You gotcha... is anyone interested in playing a game in Aelwyd? Would be one of three different types of campaign...
1 : Fey. All players would be faeries/Güerin-Aelwyd. Would basically be 'fight off the Aequii' campaign, but with a twist. Probably around 5th level start because faeries have LA.
2 : Güerin-Aelwyd. First level start, probably druid/tribesman mix with some fanatics. Again, 'fight off the Aequii', but once more with a twist... in a campaign set among the magical woods of western Aelwyd, who knows what could happen?
3 : Aequii. Again, first level start. This would probably require me to write up a whole lot more background for the Aequii, but as I'm planning to do that anyway, and there's all the roman era stuff to draw upon, we should be okay. This has a big twist on the Güerin-Aelwyd 'fight off the defilers' thing, and you'll get magic items, magical transport, and formal magic (principle mage, see Goromor.)
If you have any more ideas, or want to join, just say. As a lot of the class/race stuff isn't finished yet, I'm not going to ask for character sheets straight off (as you'd only have four choices for class and three for race) but this is to gauge interest.
I've never tried play by post before, but it could be interesting. I'd be willing to give it a try.
My vote would be for Güerin-Aelwyd.
I've never tried it either... but I'd give it a shot. I vote for #2 as well :D
Whoo! That means all I have to do is get the druid finished... :D and the bard song list, and the other stuff. The Güerin-Aelwyd is probably my favourite, and not just because it's less work for me. Although I do appreciate the fact I don't have to remap and rewrite most of europe and africa :P
'K, I started the druid, wrote up the basics of weaves. You two fancy any of the classes particularly?
I have never done PbP but I would be interested in #2 as well ;) I fancy the ranger, rogue or wizard. Also, what are the races? Imperial? ELf? .... half-vampire? :D
Golem mentions a few of the races/classes in his thread (http://www.thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?11017).
I'd definately be up for playing, although I can't guarantee absolute regularity in my posts. Sometimes I can spend days doing nothing but cruise the web, while other times I can barely spend a full hour on the computer all week (damn that social life of mine! damn it to Hell!)
If you're alright with my possible irregularity, I would vote for either of the non-Aequii game types.

i'll ditto that
@Pheonix: ill check it out
EDIT: SOunds awesome. I would like to play a "roman" legionary (using your new class!) if that fits right ;)
I'd like using a Druid... I'll wait for you to complete it, but in general I'm very fond of the idea of a celtic druid (Also, I hate using barbarians :P)
Well, if we're doing option 2...
Wow, everyone wants to be a druid? No bards? Or Tribesmen? *sobs*
Of course not, Kindling. :P you can be the tribesman. :D No, seriously, what would you like to play?
So-Keher, that would be nice, but unless you can come up with a decent backstory about why a legionary would be working with Guerin-Aelwyd... :P
Oh-kay, everyone. The druid's pretty much finished, the bard... well, you can guess the other song layouts yourself from the examples. All I need to do now is the augmentations...
Hmmm, um...yeah. Would an arcane spellcaster fit?

lol, I didn't know PK was going to be one as well... I chose druid cause I like the idea of the celtic one and because bards and tribesmen (barbarians really) = big NoNo for me lol
I don't mind playing something else.
Well, I don't see any reason against us both playing druids...
Nah, you can both play druids. :P the only problem I can forsee is that the party will die quickly in combat.
QuoteHmmm, um...yeah. Would an arcane spellcaster fit?
Again, bound mage... eh... well, a legionary might fit. If you were converted to the ways of the druids... that might work, a coverted legionary? Sound good?
Actually, I was sort of thinking of playing a tribesman anyway :-)
A pretty straightforward fighter type, embittered by Aequii attacks on his tribe and full of hatred for the invaders. Very loyal to his allies, though, and with a heart of gold. Except of course where the Aequii are concerned. In their case, he will never miss an opportunity to kill (although he may grudgingly be forced to accept the odd converted legionnaire if the party has one ;) )
Does that sound alright?
PS. You mention in the setting thread about different metals for equipment. Can you tell us more about what metals would be available to the Guerin-Aelwyd at what prices, and also the statistical differences between weapons and armour made from different metals?
Could he be a legionary archer? would rangers better fit? I suddenly got the urge to play a ranger just tell me what fits best... actually make a list of 4 classes (or types) that ar enecessary in your party and then we can choose! :D

Sure.
Also, how are we generating stats? Point buy or what?
Weapons... and things.
Iron weapons: Iron weapons and armour...
* Can't be enchanted, or at least not as much as normal weapons.
* Armour is weaker (lower AC)
* Weapons aren't as sharp (-1 piercing and slashing damage) however the Guerin treat them to make them harder and heavier (+2 bludgeoning damage)
Steel is as normal, but does +1 extra damage to fey.
New armour/weapons & changes to armour/weapons
Armour:
Iron Breastplate: AC +4, 200gp (gold is common in Aelwyd, therefore price stays the same), Max Dex +6, Check Penalty -4, Spell Failure 25% (Only applies to Bound Magic), Speed 30ft, Weight 30lb.
Iron Splint: AC +5, 200GP, Max Dex +4, Check Penalty -6, Spell Failure 50%, Speed 20ft, Weight 45lb.
Iron Buckler: 20GP, AC +1, Max Dex +8, Check Penalty -1, Spell Failure 10%, Speed -, Weight 5lb.
Wooden Shield, Tower: 30GP, AC +3, Max Dex +2, Check Penalty -6, Spell Failure -, Speed - Weight 45lb.
Iron Shortsword: 7GP, 1D6-1, crit 18-20x2, weight 3lb, Piercing or Slashing.
Iron Longsword: 10GP, 1D8-1, crit 18-20x2, weight 4lb, Piercing or Slashing.
Iron Handaxe: 6GP, 1D6-1, crit x3, Weight 3lb, Slashing.
Iron Battleaxe: 10GP, 1D8-1, Crit x3, Weight 6lb, Slashing.
Stuff available to the Guerin apart from this:
Javelin, Spear, Wooden Shields (light and heavy).
36 point buy.
P.S., I've written down the main augmentations to the weaves in Aelwyd, and I'm doing the level 1 weaves now. We only need them to start with anyway.
Use 3eProfiler (http://playrpgonline.net/3eprofiler/) for your characters.
Starting location: Bryncopa Hill Fort, a large fortified village atop a hill. I'll let you lot decide why your characters are there, but it's close to Lugannussah, one of the great festivals of the year, meaning large towns will attract plenty of hopeful bards, druids, and warriors hoping to be accepted into the lord's service. The town is led by Prince Bowen.
If anyone needs help with welsh-sounding names, just say. :P
I'm planning to start next week, if everyone's ready.
I will probably be unavailble August 14th through 19th. After that I'll be back in town and should be able to check fairly regularly.
Okay, I'll get my character up later today.
*nodnod* what you gonna play?
My tribesman, Arvel, is belated but ready.

Very nice! Just one thing you do need to do, add in 'Speak Language' as an extra skill. It's not likely you'll be needing it, but it's useful to have it there anyway. :)
IÃ,´ll post up my char tonight if thatÃ,´s ok with you.. I wasnÃ,´t here for most of the weekend and when I got home I felt too tired to be creative :P
:) tis okay. It'll be interesting to see what you chose for your druid's weaves...
Golem, I started building a druid, but I've a few questions:
Do the Guerin get normal benefits for being human (extra skills, feat)?
Are the druid weaves tied to an ability such that there's any reason to have a really high score in one score?
Do you not believe that Diplomacy ought to appear on its class skill list.
Is it a problem that I'll be out for next week? Would you rather I just start later? (I didn't really think about it until you mentioned wanting to start this week).
Oh, and, where do we post characters when finished? Here? Or do you want a PM?
Answers:
No.
You get bonus MP for wisdom.
Okay, if you don't want it as a class skill, you don't put it as a class skill... :P
Nah, you can join in when you want.
Here is fine.
Okay, this is using the template Ish posted. When I have a little more time to review the setting, I'll add more depth to the character. It kind feels a little one-dimensional at present, I guess because I don't know enough about the society to really develop his personality yet.
Anyway, I believe I implimented all the houserules correctly. I have changed this to be 3eprofiler.
Aiken (http://playrpgonline.net/3eprofiler/view.php?id=385)
Wow, that online character sheet Kindling has is nice. I'll have to look into one like that at some point.
Dat be correct! But it's better to use 3eProfiler (http://playrpgonline.net/3eprofiler/) (the one Kindling used).
They're very similar to the celts, so if you want to look up some stuff on wikipedia about them to fluff out your character, please do!
Okay, swicthed over to 3eProfiler. Thanks for the link, that's a very cool program, even for non-online characters.
By the way, as I mentioned I have not ever tried PbP. A little explanation of how you expect this to work would be great. From the intro thread, I get the idea that there will be a seperate thread for the game. But beyond that, how does a PbP proceed?
You reacted pretty positively to my character, but I still wanted to make sure you're alright with my background.
So, just so assuage my conscience, I hope you didn't mind me inventing a tribe in your world, and also I hope that my character's ties to this tribe, through loyalty and through marriage, won't get in the way....
*nods* You're fine. Invent as many tribes as you want. :P
As for phoenix knight... basically I'll post the introduction etc, and then you'll all just post whatever your characters do, with replies and NPC control from me. See some of the other PbP threads for examples. :)
can i play a paladin
never mind
...
It's Aelwyd. If you read the actual setting itself, which you'll need to, you can find the classes there...
