[ic A large poster]A party of 4-5 people of an adventurin' sort required for a venture into the Wastes of Dorum! Many have lost their lives, but those that return are sure to be findin' great glory and riches at the end of said journey! Apply at the Bluestake Tavern under the Sign of the Goat. Ask for Limuet.
[/ic]
[ooc]
Right... this be 'ere an h'adventure set in an unpublished CS of my own (a pilot adventure to see the reactions of others. If ye loikes it, then I'll start up a whole game.) Characters are level 4. Any race with a level adjustment of +1 or +0 is allowed (although I would like you to ask me about non-core first, and that includes Psionics) and the following classes can be used: Sorcerer, Wizard, Psion, Wilder, Fighter, Rogue, Cleric, Soulknife (any others, ask me about.) The Sorcerer gains Eschew Materials at 1st level as a bonus feat and can learn spells of other classes spell list if he has a chance to observe them (just a lil houserule). You'll be starting off at the Bluestake Tavern, so do your entrance with your character post. Last, but not least, it would be nice (if not necessary) if you'd enter your characters in 3eprofiler at http://www.playrpgonline.net/.
[/ooc]
I'd like to be in this.
What level do we start at?
Are non-core PrC's allowed? (although this may not matter if we're low level)
Are other non-core rules allowed? (specifically BoED feats)
[ooc]As it be saying in yonder introductory post, ye be startin' at level 4. And use tags! :P Non-core PrCs, feats etc you can explain to me (basically what they do, don't have to go into all that detail.) I'm allowing feats and spells unapproved from the following books (the ones I have): Lords of Madness, FC1, XPH, Core, RoE (you could play a changeling or shifter, but not warforged or kalashtar). If I remember any more I'll post them :P
You start with gold as in core.[/ooc]
[ooc]Just curious, would you allow Tome of Battle (I'm rather taken with it myself)? Specifically, I was wondering if you'd allow a changeling swordsage aiming at cabinet trickster and possibly swashbuckler (from CW) or Ruby Knight Vindicator .
[ooc] Haven't seen ToB, but from what I've heard of it it's perfectly balanced, so sure![/ooc]
[ooc] I'm assuming that this is 28 point buy... and these stats are on that system

30 point buy. Okay :) nice character.
[ooc]mind if i get in on this? xeviat's pbp looks like a loss.
questions:
how will psionic skills (use psionic device, psicraft) interact with magic? that is, will use psionic device be useless for all non-psionic items?
What is the gold for fourth level in core, anyway? i don't have the dm's guide, as i don't actually dm.
Also important: what would the schedule be like?
[/ooc]
[ooc] 30 point buy? Alright! I've edited my stats then...[/ooc]

[/ooc]
[ooc]Sure!
I'm using the 'Psionics is Different' thing, so psionics/magic cannot effect one another. There'll be plenty of psionic creatures to fight, however...
The gold for fourth level in core is 5,400.
As for schedule... whenever you can post!
[/ooc]
[ooc]I am planning to play a human monk/sorceror and i want to use the Sacred vow feats from BoED. I can't give you a description of them yet since my book isn't at university with me, but i'll pick it u when i go back in about a week. [/ooc]
[ooc]Sure, sounds good. If we've got all our characters by then, we can start. :)[/ooc]
[ooc]
http://www.playrpgonline.net/3eprofiler/view.php?id=451
3eprofiler likes the really small text.
[/ooc]
[ooc]Yeah...
So, anyone else? If supa don't hurry...
[/ooc]
Is there any movement on this?
[ooc]Get Supa to move and advertise it. :P That's all I can say.[/ooc]
[ooc]I'll be happy to play Golem. I think I'll probably be a straight Halfling Rogue. It'll be a nice change from the Human Wizards I usually play.
EDIT: I'm fixing all of my boxes so that they're OOC boxes instead of regular quote boxes.[/ooc]
[ooc]Here he is.
Blackjack (http://www.playrpgonline.net/3eprofiler/view.php?id=486)[/ooc]
[ooc]Odd... different colour... pweddy.
So, Brainface and Helix? You still up for it? We can do it now.
[/ooc]
[ic Blackjack]*reads poster*
Blah, blah, bla- 'great glory and.. riches...' riches, eh? Might be worth a look, hmm, Bluestake Tavern, got it.[/ic]
[ooc]Aha! I got the In Character & Out of Character boxes to work! :D
Anyway, I go to the Bluestake Tavern and wait to see if anyone else shows up to ask for Limuet.[/ooc]
[ooc]I'm working on my character, but i won't have ,y BoED book until this coming weekend when i go home. As long as we;re starting after then, i'll be ready.[/ooc]
[ooc]Awesome, sounds fine with me. So, we should have the following as our party:
*Endless_Helix = Ded, Changeling Cleric 1/Swordsage3, LN Wee Jas *supadupaman = Human Monk/Sorceror with Sacred Vow feats *brainface = Wastep, Tiefling Psion3 LN *Darkxarth (me) = Blackjack, Halfling Rogue4
I think that's it. Looks good.[/ooc]
[ooc]*nods* Goodgood![/ooc]
[ooc]So, is there anything you can tell us about the world we're in?
Anything our characters might already know that we, the players, may not?
Or will we discover it along the way?[/ooc]
[ooc]Well, all your characters will likely have lived their entire lives on the edge of the Wastes of Dorum - sometimes known as the dry sea. There are a lot of theories about Dorum, including that merfolk once lived in a sea there, but the truth about the ruins that scatter the desert is unknown. The Waste is far away from anywhere important - although this edge is technically part of the kingdom of Amasiya, none but scholars are likely to know this (Wastep is the only one out of the group who might have knowledge of it). There are a few towns of no particular interest along the border - one of these being Adjut, your current location. The largest in the area is Uadjet, where magical and psionic coaching is available in small amounts. That's... about it. Any particular information you wanted?[/ooc]
[ooc]Nothing special, just wanted some general info, which I now have!
Sounds good, I'm ebullient for the upcoming game![/ooc]
Quote from: supadupaman[ooc]I'm working on my character, but i won't have ,y BoED book until this coming weekend when i go home. As long as we;re starting after then, i'll be ready.[/ooc]
[ooc]Found this website, maybe it'll help. Exalted Feats, 3.5 Generator (http://www.pathguy.com/cg35.htm#exalted)
Though I'm not sure if there's enouogh info there to be what you need... Anyway, hope it helps.[/ooc]
[ooc] sure, sure i'll give my intro post. i haven't played ina pbp beyond dagg's random encounter, so let me know if i miss a cue, break ettiquette, or something.[/ooc]
[ic=Wastep]
A dusty, cloak-wrapped figure strides into the Bluestake Tavern, clutching a poster in his hand. The scent of glue follows him.
"Which one of you is Limuet?" he asks indescriminately.
[/ic]
[ooc]SWEET! Theres something going on with this! Here's my introductory post![/ooc]
[ic=Ded]
Ded walks to the flier. He picks it up quietly and reads it. He smiles and mutters to himself, "Maybe I'll find what I'm looking for out there."
He glances into the bar and sees several adventurers talking to someone. He walks in, cloak fluttering behind him, looking for Limuet.
[/ic]
[ic=Blackjack]Catching sight a couple of conspicuous, cloaked characters chatting congenailly with a casual colloquial, Blackjack carefully changes chairs to comprehend their conversation.[/ic]
[ooc](Isn't alliteration fun?)
Blackjack still just wants to see what's going on with this Limuet person. He doesn't want to reveal himself unless he's genuinely interested in the proposition this guy has to make. If he decides to lead the other characters off to a secluded room to chat, he'll follow them, or introduce himself, but only if absolutely necessary. He is a thief, after all.[/ooc]
[ic]An old-looking elf (and if he's an old elf, that means REALLY old) stands up and hobbles forward, coughing and hacking.
"Oi'll take ye to Limuet, lads. She's out the back."
He coughs and spits again, and then beckons towards a wooden door. [/ic]
[ic=Ded]
Ded nods and follows the old elf towords the door, readying his maneuvers.
[spoiler=Maneuvers readied today]

[spoiler=Spells Prepared]

1st level- Cause Fear, Bless
[/spoiler]
[/ic]
[ic=Blackjack]Blackjack follows the old Elf man out back, being careful to remain unnoticed by either the Elf or either of the other two people.[/ic]
[ooc]Not going so far as to make a Hide check. If someone notices him, he'll just keep going out back. He figures he's starting to get in a little far to remain unnoticed for too much longer, even for a thief.
Just to make sure, supa is still playing right? He'll just jump in in a day or two?[/ooc]
[ic=Wastep]
Wastep glances askance at the fluttering cloak, and follows it outside.

[ic]The old man leads you slowly, hacking and spitting all the time, to the end of a long corridor with a few numbered doors. He opens the last one, which creaks ominously, and motions inside. Within stands a short, yet beautiful elf with an arrogant cast to her features.
"Enter. I am Limuet."[/ic]
[ic=Blackjack]Blackjack casually steps through the door, quickly taking in the entire area, checking for any signs of something amiss. Once his eyes have finally stopped sweeping the area, he looks to this figure who claims to be Limuet. "Great, an Elf, and a woman at that." Blackjack thinks to himself.[/ic]
[ooc]Not making a spot check, I don't think that there's anything else of interest in this area, like hidden people waiting to catch Blackjack and haul him off to jail.[/ooc]
[ic]Limuet smirks as the party enters. Two elven thugs are visible as you enter the room.
"Well done, Borash."
She speaks in elven. To any of you who can understand, it is a command: "Search them, boys."
The two thugs stride forward menacingly, and Limuet speaks: "Submit to the search, and we won't harm you."
[/ic]
[ic=Blackjack]To himself, "Dang, I don't like the looks of this. I knew I should've just ignored the poster and had a drink. Well, at least I know they won't find my Dagger hidden in my boot."[/ic]
[ooc]Sleight of Hand check to conceal Dagger in boot = [dice]1d20+13[/dice][/ooc]

Limuet nods. [/ic]
[ooc]They are, as you can guess, not exactly the most intelligent.[/ooc]
[ic=Blackjack]Blackjack hands over his Sap, Hand Crossbow, and bolts. "Here." He also shoves them his pack, which is full of potions and vials. "Be careful with this stuff, it's expensive and some of it's hard to come by, if you know what I mean." [/ic]
[ooc]I hate giving up all of my potions. But, I am keeping my MW Thieves' Tools. No way am I giving up those. Blackjack has had them quite a while.[/ooc]
[ic=Jeroen] A tall man dressed in simple robes walks into the tavern and throws off his hood, revealing long silver hair. Leaning on his staff, he approaches the bar and proclaims, "I seek the one named Limuet. Is she here?"[/ic]
[ooc] Sorry about the absence guys. I had to get my book from home over the weekend and the weekend was obscenely busy. anyways, i present Jeroen.

He is now public.
[/ooc]
[ooc]Glad you got your character all worked out! :D
But you need to make him "Public" so that we can see him.
EDIT: Nice.[/ooc]
[ic]An old elf stands up at the back of the bar.
"Oi'll take ye through, lad..."
He coughs, spits and wheezes as he leads the way to a corridor at the back.
[/ic]
Meanwhile...
[ic]Limuet nods.
"Right. Now we can get down to business... there is an... object, of certain value to me, that I need recovering..."[/ic]
[ic=Blackjack]"Recovering objects is what I do," Blackjack thinks, "kind of, anyway. This little job might be right up my alley..."
Out loud he says, "Exactly how valuable is this object?"[/ic]
[ic]"Extremely valuable, but I doubt you could use it." She pulls a long scroll from a bag on her back, muttering in elven.
"Aha! This is it."
She unrolls it, revealing what looks like some kind of complicated engine. Complex elven script annotates it, unreadable even to those of you who can speak it, and visible on the engine are what looks like a model of the solar system and a glass sphere holding some kind of liquid.
"It is... useful."
[/ic]
[ic=Blackjack]"Hold on." Blackjack interrupts, "how big is this thingy here? You may not have noticed, but I'm not exactly a giant. And these other guys, don't get me wrong fellas, don't look like they'll be winnin' any weight-liftin' competitions."[/ic]
[ooc]Hmm... solar system... liquid... Elven script... very interesting...[/ooc]
[ic]"Oh, not all that big. And anyhow, I have this to assist you. It can create invisible disks of force."
She pulls out what appears to be a long handle.
"It doesn't require any skill - just press the button once per day, and the disk will appear behind it. You can pull it along easily, it's weightless."
[/ic]
[ooc]
Basically a wand that can create a Tenser's Floating Disk once per day.
[/ooc]
[ic=Blackjack]"Ah, right." Blackjack grabs the handle, "I'll just carry this." He tucks the handle in his belt, careful not to bump the button. "So, now that that's settled, what are the details of this particular 'quest,' as it were. Your poster said 'great glory and riches.' Just how great are we talkin' here?"[/ic]
[ooc]Blackjack is a greedy little pain-in-the-neck, isn't he? Oh well, I have too much free time on my hands, maybe I should give the others a chance to comment...[/ooc]
[ic=Jeroen] Somewhat suprised by the gross actions of a people he always considered to be very proper, Jeroen follows the old elf through the doo and surveys those already there. "Greetings to you all. I am Jeroen, and i presume you to be Limuet?" Looking towards blackjack, " You I already know, or at least have heard of you, but who might you two be? " He watches them carefully, but curteously.[/ic]
[ic=Blackjack]"Oh, dragon dung!" Blackjack thinks, "This guy's heard of me? Where does a guy like that here about a guy like me? I hope he's not some sort of bounty hunter. Well, now I can't let him out of my sight until I find out what the heck is going on."
"Clearly a round of introductions is necessary," he says, "I go by Blackjack, I am a *ahem* recoverer of goods, as it were."[/ic]
[ic=Ded]
Ded steps though the door, after this inital exchange, letting everyone scout out the position for him. He submits to the search and settles to listen.
[/ic]
[ic=Wastep (http://www.playrpgonline.net/3eprofiler/view.php?id=451)]
Wastep pulls the hood of his cloak down to reveal his face.
"Wastep."
"Sage."
He quickly turns his attention back to Limuet and the thuggish elves.

"And that leaves the gentleman who just walked in, whom I believe is named Ded, correct? So, now that the formalities are over, let's get on with this, shall we? I believe we were talking about payment?"[/ic]
[ooc]Trying out a different color for Blackjack's thoughts. Looks better than the green I was using.[/ooc]
[ic=Ded]
"My name is Ded. I follow my goddess in all things. This is where I must be."
Ded shifts into a more defenible postion in his chair, preparing for any sort of trouble. [/ic]
[ic=Blackjack (http://www.playrpgonline.net/3eprofiler/view.php?id=486)]"Ha, I was right. I thought I recognized him. Small world."
"Right. Well, now that we're all nice and chummy with each other, let's get back to the business at hand, shall we? After all, I'm sure our good Elf friend is anxious to retrieve her whatever-it-is." he adds sarcastically.[/ic]
[ic=Wastep (http://www.playrpgonline.net/3eprofiler/view.php?id=451)]
"Payment, yes. But perhaps first, some details of what is between us and your useful object to cause many to lose their lives, as the poster gladly proclaims. That could affect our fee, I believe."

[ic]"Fine."
She absently spins a knife around her fingers.
"Well... this device was being carried via skyship to a location FAR across the wastes. However, the sky ship was somehow damaged and fell somewhere in the region of the Black City."
She mutters a bit.
"It's a huge ruin, from whatever used to live in that hell-hole. Mostly temples, lots of treasure, and... well, a few... spirits. Of a kind."
[/ic]
[ic=Blackjack (http://www.playrpgonline.net/3eprofiler/view.php?id=486)]"Lots of treasure, eh? Sounds fine to me. Besides, I don't plan on dying, so I'm not too worried about any 'spirits' that might be lurking about." Blackjack says gruffly.[/ic]
[ic= Jeroen (http://www.playrpgonline.net/3eprofiler/view.php?id=512) ] " The Black City? I have heard of it but my travels never carried me in that area. I care not for the trasures, but tell me, how long ago did the skyship crash? Might there be any still alive in those ruins, either from the ship or them as lived there? "
I hope twas not too long ago. There must be some there as can be saved. Even those that once lived there deserve better than to be crushed by a ship they had nothing to do with. [/ic]
[ooc] Red is thoughts, just to clear that up.[/ooc]
[ic=Limuet]"There may be some still alive. Whether they will still be fit for travel, or sane, will be revealed, I suppose..."[/ic]
[ic=Blackjack (http://www.playrpgonline.net/3eprofiler/view.php?id=486)]"Hm, those survivors might have already laid claim to some of that treasure, the sooner we leave, the more chance we have of getting more."

[ic=Limuet]"Well, I'm no scholar. I just work for the flightship business around here. You might be able to find out more at the library, but I wouldn't try crossing the Waste on foot... you'll get transport on one of our craft for a reduced price if you give them a permit." Just out of curiousity, what kind of rumors have you heard about me? I can't think of anyone I've met who'd want to spread rumors about me. Maybe a dissatisfied customer, I suppose."
"Hm, he might actually just be some random guy who's heard about me. I still need to be wary, but if he's not a bounty hunter, I need to get him on my side. Those other two look a lot less gullible than this guy. Besides, he's not too bad, I suppose, if a little "pure" for my tastes. No alcohol, sheesh."[/ic]

Man, if he is, I couldn't have picked a better 'ally'. Those other two guys are nothing. Still, they probably have their uses, I'll wait and see what that one guy, Watsup, gets that info on the Black City from the library. There's something I don't want to spend hours looking up."

The Black City is a near-legendary ruined metropolis in the centre of the Wastes of Dorum.
It is unknown who or what originally lived there, and the scripts found on buildings and archaeological evidence includes elven, aquan and terran (among others unknown).
Spirits, ghosts, and other odd creatures lurk within the ruins, and those that travel there often go insane.

Hmm... I must've failed my Spot check...[/ooc]
[ic]You make your way to the docking tower with some difficulty, but with no trouble along the way (although Ded gains a lingering feeling that somebody's watching them). The tower is a tall wooden structure on a stone base, topped with a platform. A few large barns and other buildings surround it, with the centralmost one, built into the tower base, has 'Main Office' written in human and elven above the door.[/ic]
[ic=Blackjack (http://www.playrpgonline.net/3eprofiler/view.php?id=486)]"Well, here we are gentlemen. Let's go in and give 'em our permit. Then all we have to do is wait for Watsup." Blackjack enters the main office, looking around for someone who looks like they're in charge.
"Hm, I wonder how much this trip is going to cost me, even with the permit. Maybe I can get Jeroen to pay for it..."[/ic]
[ic]The room is musty and filled with ledgers. There are three people standing talking - one tall elf with a roguish look about him, complete with about twenty daggers in his belt and harness, one podgy female half-elf with an expensive-looking dress and another elf, this one also male, but unarmed except for a pair of viciously spiked gauntlets. Both the males wear skyship gear.[/ic]
[ic=Blackjack (http://www.playrpgonline.net/3eprofiler/view.php?id=486)]Inexoribly drawn to the dagger-weilding Elven male, Blackjack says "Hey, you. D'you Elves pilot one of these flying disasters? We've got a permit here, and we're trying to get to the Black City."

[ic]"That would be me, halfling." The one with the daggers speaks with a heavily accented voice.
"If you want to get to the Black City, you require lots of money... permit grants 2500 gold off - but black city trip cost 75,000."

...........................................
Okay, calm down Blackjack, get a grip. There's got to be a way around this ridiculous fee. You just have to think of it."
"75,000 is a lot of gold, friend," Blackjack says, trying to control his anger, "Perhaps we could come to some other arrangement?"[/ic]
[ooc]I hope someone else has a better plan than mine...[/ooc]

"So, you take us to the Great Sky Market, we do this job for you, and then you take us to the Black City. And it doesn't cost m- us, anything, right?"[/ic]

[ic= Jeroen (http://www.playrpgonline.net/3eprofiler/view.php?id=512) ] " Indeed. Our group has not yet all arrived. [ic=Blackjack (http://www.playrpgonline.net/3eprofiler/view.php?id=486)]"Wait, hold on. Now, I'm not usually one to get too specific about these kinds of things," Blackjack says, "my previous job didn't encourage details either. So I can see both sides of the arguement. But, I think we might need more information than just a package. I'm not saying we need to know what it is, I for one don't want to know at this point, but we do need to know if someone is going to come looking for us about it afterwards. And not the kind of looking for us where they give us a reward, the kind where they break peices of us."
"What is it with Elves and details? Oh well, just one more reason to hate the tree-hugging nutjobs."[/ic]
[ic=The Pointy-Eared Treehugging Nutjob]The elf's eyes pop as Blackjack thinks that thought, and he mutters something.
"This is the kind of package where you don't ask questions. But no, it's unlikely that anyone will come after you..."
[/ic]
[ooc] Doh! Yep, I meant the elf dude. Edited... [/ooc]
[ic=Ded] Ded makes his features a little more hawkish, just enough to be more intimidating. He carefully studies the elf, checking for anything out of the ordinary.
"You do realize that telling us who could come after us would make it easier to guard your parcel, never mind the actual contents?"
"Also, what does the package look like? I'd rather not have to hunt it down with no description...[/ic]
[ic= Jeroen (http://www.playrpgonline.net/3eprofiler/view.php?id=512) ] " Come now, there is no need for al this cloak and dagger. I can appreciate that you do not wish to disclose the contents. But my friend is right. We would be much more capable of protecting your package if we just knew what obstacles we should be prepared for. I assume that you do actually want for the package to reach it's destination and not be conveniently lost en route. "
I do not like the sound of this. It is beginning to sound more and more like a set-up. I wonder if he actually wishes this mysterious package to reach it's destination, or if we are meant to be patsy's. If he thinks that merely having morals makes me naive, the he will be sorely mistaken. [/ic]

Blackjack turns to the dagger-covered Elf and continues, "I mean, clearly this package is valuable to you, and I for one would just hate for it to get lost somehow. What a shame that would be, I can only imagine that whoever it was for would be quite upset about its failure to arrive. So, one of the things we can do to try and prevent it from being lost, is to know a little more about it. Like, is it dangerous for us to carry it? Is it likely to blow up halfway there? Is it a large package, or a small one?"
"Hm, it seems my simple friend here isn't as foolish as I thought he was. I may have to be more careful of what I say."[/ic]
[ic=Pointy Ears]"It's a small package, containing something of worth to us. It is unlikely that anyone will follow you, and if they do, they will not be able to leave the Sky Market until it next sets down on the other side of the wastes. Happy now?"[/ic]
[ic=Blackjack (http://www.playrpgonline.net/3eprofiler/view.php?id=486)] "That's fine. A small package, shouldn't be anyone looking for it, sounds okay." he replies to the Elf.
He then turns to Jeroen and whispers, "But why, if this job is so easy, do they need us to deliver this package? Perhaps they work on the shady side of the law? Not that I always keep on the straight and narrow, but at least I try. That's one of the reasons I'm looking for a different job, one that's more honest and fulfilling."
"Stinking Elf, what does he think he's trying to pull? Even if he's fooled the Monk and the Priest-guy, he better not think for an instant that he's fooled me. It takes a lot more than some underhanded leaf-eared twig-armed peanut-brained nature-boy to fool ol' Blackjack."[/ic]
[ic=Ded, the preist guy]

To the Elf " That sounds acceptable, and i beleive i speak for all of us when i accept your bargain. I will however expect you to hold up your side as well and give up transport as soon as possible to the Black City once we have done this taks for you. Actually, where is the fourth member of our happy little group? "

"Yeah, I agree," Blackjack whispers back to Jeroen, "we should definitely try and find out what's going on here. Obviously this guy's not telling us everything."
"Hm," Blackjack thinks, "what the heck is taking Watsup so long? Well, hopefully that bird of Jeroen's will get him and bring him here. I am ready to go! I didn't join this stupid quest to do dirtywork for a bunch of stinking Elves. I joined it to get paid, and if it never gets going, I'm never going to get paid.[/ic]

He turns around and heads for the stairs, thinking, "Hm, Jeroen's right. His life isn't worth blowing up this flying hunk of junk. But, as soon as I don't need this Elf anymore, he and I will have to finish this 'conversation'."[/ic]

[ooc] Ooh, mission is it? i'm intruigued.
BTW, do you have a physical description/past/some fluff description of Ded up here anywhere?
The original posting of your character looks like it's just crunch.[/ooc]
[ooc] Yeah... It's just crunch. But since he's a changeling.... Descriptions are kind of pointless... I'll reveal his history as it comes to me. The I've got the basics though.[/ooc]
[ic=Jeroen] Gathering his Raven, Jeroen heads up the stairs to the cabins and gestures for the others to follow.[/ic]
[ooc] I see.
What book are changelings from anyways? and what kind of stuff can they do? Like, can they actually shapechange, or is it just minor facial features?[/ooc]
[ic=Blackjack (http://www.playrpgonline.net/3eprofiler/view.php?id=486)] Blackjack follows Jeroen up the stairs, repeatedly muttering curses in Halfling, and making up more as he thinks of other insulting things to say about Elves.[/ic]
[ooc]They're from the Ebberon Campaign Setting/Races of Ebberon books. They can basically use Disguise Self at will, except that the result is real instead of illusory. A true seeing spell reveals their true nature, and (my house rule) another changeling can tell a changeling on sight through pheromones. But of course, on the black market, you can buy OTHER pheromones...[/ooc]

The books I read mentioned Elvish and Elemental writings on the buildings--I can read elven of course; but not Aquan or Terran. I don't know of anything that speaks that anymore. Some mages, maybe? There were references to the spirits Limuet spoke of--ghosts, apparently; among other things--details are lacking. Several cases of insanity are also recorded, but I couldn't find a cause or even specific symptoms. From the way Limuet talked, it sounded permanent, but I doubt she ever took the time to learn about mental ailments.
