Remember, the winner gets the prize of choosing the next set of 10 member titles (the things that say stuff like susan sto helit and great a'tuin, etc).

I realized just a few minutes too late that I had forgotten to include that. The main thread has been updated.

I decided that setting the deadline more than a month out would be for the best. It gives everyone plenty of time to think of something, get it written out, and get it posted. Hopefully no one is too busy to enter, if they want to, for that entire amount of time.

Just a little howdy-ho. Anyone working on an entry?

I sort of am.  That is, I have the idea of a legend in mind.  With my schedule I have no idea how much time I'll have for it though.

Also daunting is the fact that the legend I have in mind could easily become quite long.  As in book length.  Or even multiple books.  If I let it.

All I'll say is that it involves a hero on a quest, and 12 special objects scattered all over, that must be collected before evil can be vanquished.  And think how long stories can take when you only need to gather a couple of special items . . .

Then write a synopsis of that. Maybe even describing what made this need to happen, what the dwarf did, and what effect that had would be good enough. I set the word count limit higher than I expected anyone would need but it looks like you want to go far beyond even that. Of course, if you do go big I'm sure the CBG would still like to hear it.

Then again, does anyone think the established word limit is too low? If several people felt that way, it could be bumped up. As long as it stays short enough that people can easily read them and vote on their favorite.

I had forgotten the word limit.  In my case, I'm actually relieved.  Not sure about too low or not, but I'm glad it exists.

I hoping to get something up on the 17th or 18th. Will I even have competitors? :P

Anyone? We're almost to the deadline. Two entries (or more!) would be fantastic.

I started one the day you posted the contest but got distracted by other things.  It proved to have the feel of a fable or fairy-tale more than a strictly historic legend, but I will try to finish it in time!!
