Xathan walks onto the platform that hovers above the arena. The stadium is, as always, full of people. The remains of the last fight, a beast match pitching a pack of dire wolves that had been crossbred with red dragons against the offspring of a demon and a huge dinosaur, are being pulled off of the field. He grins down at the crowd, and waits for it to fall silent.
"Your next match is a duel," He speaks normally, but his voice booms across the arena, "fought to death, or to yield." As he speaks, the arena shimmers, shifting to the duel field. The doors open, allowing the two halflings to walk onto the field once they are read. "Combatants, assume your positions!"
[spoiler=out of character][ooc]Detail on the Arena's layout outside the battlefield and it's background are vague intentionally, I'm still working on the kinks. The combatants start off 20 feet from each other, since they are both Small. The arena is the Duel Arena. They have one minute to prepare for combat, if needed. Roll initiatives to see who goes first.[/ooc][/spoiler]
[spoiler=Pre-Combat Actions][ooc]Before combat Saren drinks a bottle of glowing liquid. Then draws a multicolored rod and a shorter, transparent rod, holding one in each hand.[/ooc][/spoiler]
[ic=Faro the Loud]Now here's a match-up I've been waiting for! Both of these halflings have made quite a splash, but today, I think each one might be the toughest opponent the other's fought so far!
(mumbled) - Now where'd I put that popcorn...[/ic]
[ic= !maeba (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=4534) ] !maeba pulls out his bow and begins his pre-battle rituals. While chanting a series of prayers to the gaurdian gods, ending off with a scream to Mictlantecuhtli, he applies sacred oils to his bow, and dips some of his arrows in vials of liquid hanging off his belt. He then pulls out a pot of pale cream, he applies warpaint in the crude image of a skull to the heads of both his hounds, and finally his own face. Then, he takes hold of his hounds' collars and giving a loud shout proclaims "The jaws of the Gods will devour this infidel," and brings his arms together like the jaws of an alligator. He then pulls a small gourd-like object and, hold his bow in his other hand, waits for the battle to begin. [/ic]
[ooc] [spoiler=Pre-Combat Actions]

Apply poisons to arrows.

Make a level check of DC 18, Darkxarth.
Should the dogs go at the same time as me, or do i roll initiative for them too?[/ooc]
[ic=Saren (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=4532)] "My victory shall be swift, savage!"[/ic]

[ic]Xathan holds up his staff, topped with the head of a humanoid, and brings it down on the platform he stand on, creating the sound of a great gong. As the silence settles, his voice can be heard uttering a sigle word:
FIGHT!!!
The crowd roars, and Xathan settles back onto his throne formed from the bones of those who had died in the Arena[/ic]
[ooc]On your dogs, I don't have any offical rules, but since they are separeate creatures, I say they act on their own initiative. If someone has an offical rule to contradict me, let me know.
Make a quick OOC post for their initiative, and once initiative is found, the fight can begin.[/ooc]
[ooc] You're gonna die?!? Look at how much firepower you have.
I guess we can both dish it out, but can't take it.[/ooc]
[ooc] Tenochi [dice]1d20+2[/dice]
Teoti [dice]1d20+2[/dice] [/ooc]
[ooc]The order of Combat is
Tenochi
Teoti
Saren
!maeba
I'll appreciate a lack of OOC chatter for the rest of the fight - if you wanna talk OOC, do so in the Arena main thread, the Tavern, or over PMs. :)[/ooc]
[ic=Tenochi]
Tenochi charges Saren on his left and tries to trip him.
Saren gets an AoO.
Trip Attack roll [dice]1d20+5[/dice]
If he hits Saren needs to do a dex check at -4 (size) or trip. DC = [dice]1d20+3[/dice]
[/ic]
[ic=part 2]
Seeing as how you can't pass unless you have a dex enhancement currently active (DC19 against 1d20-2), you are now prone.
You get an AoO though.[/ic]
[ic=Saren (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=4532)][spoiler=Opposed Trip Check][dice]1d20+2-4[/dice][/spoiler]
As Saren falls, he lashes out with his leg in an attempt to kick the dog. [dice]1d20+1[/dice] If he hits, his booted foot deals [1d3-2= minimum 1] 1 damage.[/ic]
[ic=Teoti] As Tenochi drags down the halfling and avoids a good solid kicking,
Teoti charges in on the other side and attempts to bite the other leg.
Attack roll [dice]1d20+5+4[/dice]
If he hits then he does [dice]1d6+3[/dice] damage.
[/ic]
[ic=Saren HP=5 AC=18]Saren attempts to rise, trying to figure out how to survive this battle long enough to fight back.
[spoiler=Other Stuff]I assume both of your dogs get an AoO. If they hit me, do I still get up?[/spoiler][/ic]
[ic]Tenochi att [dice]1d20+3[/dice] dam [dice]1d6+3[/dice]
Teoti att [dice]1d20+3[/dice] dam [dice]1d6+3[/dice]
[/ic]
[ooc] where did the +4 Ac come from? you get +4 against ranged for being prone, but -4 against melee. although, perhaps it's that potion you drank. [/ooc]
[ic=Saren HP=-4 AC=14]Saren falls collapses back onto the ground, his blood beginning to soak into the ground.
[spoiler=OOC]Yeah, my bad. I forgot about the -4 for being prone, but he does have a +4 from the Potion of Mage Armor he drank before the battle. Anyway, doesn't matter now, he's unconcious before the end of the first round. :( [/spoiler][/ic]
[ic]Xathan stands from his throne, as the crowd erupts with a chorus of noise, some cheers, some boos.
"The fight is ended! !mebea is the winner!"
At this, the crowd cheers. Some begin chanting his name, creating a chorus of clicks as they stumble over it.
"!mebea! your fallen foe lays before you! He did not yeild, so you have a choice: To finish him, or spare him?"
Different sections of the crowd begin chanting for different fates.[/ic]
[ic=!maeba] !maeba calls off his dogs as the mage stops struggling. He shoulder's his bow and walks to the fallen halfling. He then speaks to the crowd.
"This was not a good fight. He did not get the chance to fight and die honourably. He was not ready for the fury of one blessed by the Lord of Bones. Praise be to Mictlantecuhtli. Perhaps no one here was yet ready, but he and others will soon learn."
To Saren, "When you are ready, we will fight again. Until then I will take a token as a reminder of our fight to come," and with this !maeba draws one of his axes and slices off Saren's left ear and holds it up for the crowd to see. Then he continues, "When we fight again, either you will die honourably in battle and be welcomed into my Lord's halls, regardless of your personal choice of higher power, or I will go there myself and you can have this back. Until then young one, take care. I would hate to face you in less than peak form."
With this, !maeba calls his dogs and walks from the arena, his bright feathered cloak flowing around him. [/ic]
[ic]The crowd goes insane, cheering wildly after !maeba's speech, and letting out an excited roar as !maeba removes the fallen halfling's ear. Xathan grins down on the halfling.
"There you have it! These two may well meet again on this field of battle!"
A ugly, scaly humanoid rushes over to Saren and mutters a prayer in its hissing language. Instantly, his wounds begin to heal, and he regains concouisness. "Do you want me to resssstore you ear and remove your ssscarsss, halfling? Not all warriorsss want sssuch marksss removed."[/ic]
[ic=Anden Spectacles]That sure was a quick fight. That halfling never knew what hit him apparently. I sure fear for his life, if ever there is a rematch! And ouch, after losing an ear to this Arena I doubt we'll see him in it again anytime soon.[/ic]
[ic=Saren] "My ear," he says, feeling the side of his head, "what the hel- OH MY GOD! THAT WHACKO TOOK MY EAR?!?!?!?" he shouts. He takes a deep calming breath, trying not to pass out at the loss of his ear, "No," he says, "no, I think I'll get my own ear back." He stands up, and walks off the field, muttering, "I am going to kill that crazy son of a-"[/ic]
[ic=Faro the Loud]Wh-- whoa! I'm glad I didn't blink, because I almost missed the match! Looks like this !maeba knows all the tricks when it comes to combat, but could still learn a thing or two about giving the crowd the show they paid for!
Looks like !maeba's challenging his opponent to a rematch by taking that ear. Just look at the way Saren carries himself off the field-- I bet we are going to get to see that rematch after all.[/ic]
