Title: Steel Isle Online game summer session new players
Post by: LordVreeg on July 16, 2012, 02:22:41 PM
This is going in another thread because I am aware of the tendency for people to look at a thread they know does not normally pertain to them and ignore it.  We all do it.

This is because we still take new players in the Steel Isle Online disaster. and from time to time I let people know.  Steel ISle was not envisioned to lasting this long (which, in retrospect, I should have at least suspected, given my particular history), but we are going to have session 126 tonight.

We are hitting our summer session, since I have found that the school season has a lot to do with who is playing and when.  So I wanted to post an invite.  We have 4 regular players right now, but we encourage drop ins (they can pick up and play an NPC with a days notice), and I also wanted to make sure that all and sundry knew that it is not a closed campaign.

It is set in the world of Celtricia (http://celtricia.pbworks.com/w/page/52195122/Celtrician%20Primer), on the small Steel Isle (http://celtricia.pbworks.com/w/page/14956335/Steel%20Isle%20Town), once the seat of the ancient Velolvian Sea-Empire (http://celtricia.pbworks.com/w/page/14956622/Venolvian%20Empire).  We use the GuildSchool Skill-based rule set (http://celtricia.pbworks.com/w/page/14955619/Guildschool).  The premise is that the island is dotted with ruins, since the Venolvians were completely destroyed in the War of the Shield, and that Trader-Secundus Chorbit's caught wind of a new ruin found in a southern swamp, and the PCs are going through their 6th trip (http://celtricia.pbworks.com/w/page/14956323/Steel%20Isle%20online) to this set of ruins.

So ask away if you have any interest. Welcome...(and don't be scared off by the list of deceased party members).

When you refer to this project as the "Steel Isle Online disaster", is that last word just there semantically, or did your lawyer advise you to include it for liability reasons?

Hi!
Sure I'll play. Do you have a regular schedule for play nights? How much info do I need to cram to be up to speed?

Sarisa, we play Mondays from 8:45 to about 10:30-10:45 eastern
love to have you

the Game has a large wiki, but that does not always help
thinking about rolling up a character, or using a pregen for a while?

Is that AM or PM? I'm certainly interested, but time zones can be a hassle.

It's a PM game, eastern.  How Limetom does it from Hawaii is part of the Mysteries of the Grad School.
8:45 is warm up, generally, and we really kick in around 9ish.  We play normally between 1.5 and 2 hours, weekly, so there is almost a serial-esque feel that has developed.

I think I will try to be online tonight on IRC.  Love to have you folks join in.  I find with 5-6 players, we can normally get 4-5 every session.

this is the Party's adventure page. (http://celtricia.pbworks.com/w/page/14956323/Steel%20Isle%20online)  You can get quite a feel right here for the kind of adventure.

I may try to stop by. It's very late for me, but that might not be impossible seeing as its on a monday - I normally work weekends so I often get monday-tuesday off as a kind of replacement.

I also might be interested in trying it out.  Not having any experience with Guildschool, though, I'd probably want to use one of those NPCs/Pre-Gens or something first.   Is this on the normal IRC channel?

Ok, these pregen/NPS are close to being perfect, and I can knowc any into shape with a few hours notice

1) Jon Galica, Male Grey March Human Skald of the Frigid Song.  Blonde, suave, and melodious, gets along with about everyone, but also somewhat scholarly.

2) Toden Hodd TorZyjman, Male New Gartier Priest of the Trees.  The only original party member left, lost his left arm to a werewolf guardians of the crones.  Healed and recovered in Shuruum's farm for some few goesi, rejoined the group at session 80.  A scarred and sobering presence, at six foot five inches.

3) Capilina Tosta, female gastax klaxik lesser initiate of the Church of Black Irony and Fate.  A snarky, somewhat materialistic, debating follower of Moss, on laon from the Church.

4) Billo White, male huge 1/2 Ograk follower of Squire Astell (on leave).  Bonewarden of the Bone KNights of Orcus, has gravitated to Abryxia and helps her shriving.  Used to being the big gun, so some shifting around mentally is going on with many other strong fighter in the group.

5) Yeomic Fernfollow, tiny female Hobyt/gnome crossbreed Scale Apprentice of the Platform of Trade and follower of Victor.  Is very, very close to Victor and does not like being away from him.  Determined healer.

I like the sound of Jon Galica.  I think I'd go with him.

Kindling, you are more than welcome.

It was a fun, baseic session last night.  And there are a bunch of pregens still available if you want to take a spin.

ok, it is not summer anymore.  I missed a few weeks due to work travel, but we've been good since then.
Sessions are Tuesday at 8:45 eastern time.
I think we get S-H back after rehearsals end, but I am not sure.
Llum and Limetom have been making every session, and the Ninja D has been pretty consistent as well.  But I wanted to throw the doors back open to this archeological dig/in-town social whirlwind.

Yeah, this is the last week of rehearsals, as we open on Friday.  So I can probably make it next Tuesday, just not tonight.
