Title: Brainstorming for my next game...
Post by: LoA on December 15, 2012, 02:17:16 AM
So I finally found someone to play a game with me, and I wanted to start a new setting.

To make a long story short, I want to give the USK another shot.

So here's a preview of all of the stuff I have done before:

USK: The United States of Khorvaire was a setting I came up with after I had read the 1632 series by Eric Flint. I had set up a basic game, and even got quite far in it, but I got stuck.

I chose to set it in Eberron for the following reasons:
I was really familiar with the Campaign Setting.
Eberron had a firm foundation of a quasi-industrial magic, which would've provided excellent competition for modern technology.
I really liked the idea of having Riedra play a larger role in the affairs of the setting.
Plus I really like the Dieselpunk Pulpy tone that Eberron has, and I think it fits in well with the theme of the setting. Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, etc.

Still everytime I try to start a new game I feel overwhelmed. I simply don't know what direction to take the setting in...
Do I want to explore the effects of a capitilist system on the magic that exists (for good or for bad), or have there be a big global conflict over everything all at once? I simply have no idea where to go...

So if someone could point me in a good direction I would be most appreciative.
