Title: Oblivion (2013 Film)
Post by: Cheomesh on April 28, 2013, 10:08:09 PM
Saw this today.  3/5.  There were a few scenes towards the beginning that didn't need to be in the film, and the exposition was pretty light.  Visuals were pretty but lacked a consistent feel of reality, though a few fit in well with the scene.  While I understood the plot, I wasn't clear on the message of the film.

There are two other films with a similar sort of "After Earth" set up coming out (After Earth and Elysium), which I am looking forward to.

Your thoughts?

I liked it quite a bit (I'll say 4 out of 5), but I don't know that it had any message. Nor needed to--it was just entertainment, really. I suppose you could argue the message lies in the distinction between him questioning the status quo and his partner's blind obedience. Take whatever you want from that.
