So, I think I may be bipolar, or at least a teensy bit; I'm going to talk to someone about it soon. Basically, I either suffer from a lack of any motivation, or I have more motivation than I can actually handle.
For the last year, I've been bouncing back and forth between playing/running D&D Next playtest sessions, fidding with D&D4E, and fiddling with M&M3E, as well as just overloading my brain with general gaming chat with a roommate. On top of that, I got promoted at work, which has increased my workload right as we go into the busy season (yay working in tourism), I'm working on my jewelry business, and I'm still trying to find time to write.
What I mean to say is that I want something else to do to keep my mind off of the things that have been stagnating in my brain. In trying to avoid the Wotsy and Green Ronin message boards, I'll be hanging around here more.
Please, help me feel important by poking me and bugging me to check out your stuff. I'm going to just start reading as much as I can and get back to being a good contributor again; I miss you folks.
Well, if you're interested in joining a forum game, Forbidden Arts is open to characters. (As is City of the Chosen right now and Restoration of the Righteous Empire, but really, Forbidden Arts. ;) ) I'd actually appreciate a bit of critique on the setting for Forbidden Arts, since I want to flesh that out more before the game starts.
Of course, if forum game isn't your cup of tea, Keldora got off to a decent start and flagged because I got distracted (I have the same problem you do) - A review could help revive that. :)
As far as other people's stuff you missed, I'd highly recommend Weave's Pinnacle, Sparkletwist's First Age, Hippo's Lovecraft Holmes (which has crunch to sink your teeth into too!) Steerpike's Death of Time, and Nomadic's Beyond Frontier. It'll be good to have someone commenting on settings again, we're kinda becoming the PbPer's Guild (not that I mind, of course, seeing as I'm playing in or planning on playing in or running the majority of them). ;)
It's good to have you back, Cap'n - you've been missed.
All right Xev, I'll take a jab at you! 0=|)======>
All joking aside, I'm actually having the same problems. A friend of mine, who I didn't know played DnD, and he didn't know I played, found out that we both played dnd, and now we both want to play dnd.
I'm not sure who's DMing yet, but if it's me, I either want to run Eberron, or Dynama. If it's Dynama, I can't decide whether I want to run World of Swing n'Sorcery where its a fantasy world with Art Deco Magitech, or Enigma where Earth connects with planes of magic, and is now full on Dnd in the roaring twenties. (Shadowrun with fedoras instead of sunglasses). But then I keep thinking of Bioshock Infinite, and I've always wanted to run a setting in a floating city since I watched Laputa, So do i scrap everything and make a new setting? But I also recently began thinking of cross genre westerns.... and dinosaurs! but.. but... but.....
:explode:
I'm going to get input from him to see what he wants, but yeah... If it turns out I'm DMing I'll come back and tell you what's going on, and I'll probably need help with some game mechanics.
If old school D&D is at all your cup of tea, you might check out my crowdsourcing project on Campaign Elements and contribute a character write-up or two. Just to float an idea.
And I think I found the URL to link it here (http://www.thecbg.org/index.php/topic,209783.0.html).
I am working on a just barely there borrowed wi-fi signal at the moment. That affects how many tabs I feel confident in having open at once and other issues.
Welcome back Xev! I don't really have anything up right now to bug you about, but I'm in the IRC chatroom often enough, if you want to just shoot the stuff. Those conversations always lead odd places.
Otherwise, I second you looking at The Forbidden Arts thread!
I third the recommendation to look at Forbidden Arts, if not to play, then at least to check out the interesting crunch and fluff.
Forbidden Arts and such it is. I shouldn't commit to a forum game, because I have a tendency to disappear for weeks on end, but I'll definitely toss in my two cents.
Thanks for the warm welcome back folks.
