[ic=Announcer] What have we here! This is our first ever handicapped match. I wonder what Lamina has done to deserve this. Now entering the arena is the unlucky warrior Orbis with his partner the newcomer Erilon. Perhaps Erilon can give this fighter the confidence he needs to pull off the win here today. Erilon looks to be a stout and hardy young elf with an eagle companion, things do not bode well for their opponent. And entering through the southern gates is the doomed Lamina, there is almost no way he can win this match. Wait! What's this Lamina seems to have brought an army with him. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8! 8 combatants on the field at the same time 5 vs 3 perhaps Lamina can pull off the upset, only time will tell. Let's go down to the field of battle where our combatans are preparing for this all out war.[/ic]
[ooc] Before entering Lamina downs a potion of Owl's Wisdom and Cat's Grace[/ooc]

[ooc]Woot! Go Red-Maged Elven Monk/Ranger! It's a shame none of my attacks hit though.
Um, off topic here, how do you have a +10 to your Dexterity? I see the +6 from the Gloves, but nothing else. I think, and I could be wrong, that you stacked the +4 from Cat's Grace and the +6 from the Gloves, which doesn't work. Both of them are enhancement bonuses, which do not stack.
Quote from: d20srd.orgMultiple enhancement bonuses on the same object (in the case of armor and weapons), creature (in the case of natural armor), or ability score do not stack. Only the highest enhancement bonus applies.
[ooc] Unless you specifically get a feat that says otherwise, taking multiple attack s (like from two weapon fighting) requires a full attack action.[/ooc]
[ooc]Um, yeah. I see that now... sorry. x. So I guess I only attacked you the first time, though I'm still redirecting the +2 enhancement bonus from my second Rapier to my AC.
Thank you Captain Obvious.[/ooc]

[ooc]Ho-HA! My Steadfast Boots, which I thankfully remembered to put on instead of my Boots of the Winterlands, prevent me from being tripped or bull rushed. Also, as long as I have a melee weapon that is one-handed or larger I count as being set against a charge.
I take it that it's Orbis' turn now? And exactly how far up is Kaw? Is he merely hovering? Can he hit me without moving?[/ooc]
[ooc] Yes Orbis's turn. Kaw is 10 ft up and yes he can hit you, but he has already used his one AoO. Yes for now he is hovering[/ooc]
[ooc]Okay, take that, silly birdy.[/ooc]
[ic=Orbis (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=5284) HP: 110 AC: 33]"No one shoots at my teammate!" He quickly lets fly with his own string of arrows, all aimed at the pesky Lamina.[/ic]
[ooc]It's a Seeking bow, and I've just realized I'm not quite sure what that means. I am pretty sure I still have to roll attacks, but I think that they dodge around the big wolf in front of you, meaning you don't get an AC bonus. In any event, I'm shooting at you.
1st Attack: [dice]1d20+23[/dice] Damage: [dice]1d8+5[/dice]

EDIT2: Oh, yeah, I knew that....[/ooc]
[ooc] The arrows were sent at Erilon, Orbis has only taken damage from the bird
Seeking negates concealment[/ooc]
[ooc]Actually, I saw that, but got up to go reference the Steadfast Boots, sat back down, and, for some reason, thought the arrows were aimed at Orbis. Whew.[/ooc]

Bite Attack = [dice]1d20+9[/dice] damage = [dice]2d6+7[/dice]
I'm not sure if this is how the animal companion multiattack works, if not then the last one is at +4 (not that he can hit all that well as it is)[/ooc]
[ooc]I'm not quite sure exactly how it works either. We can go ahead and stick with that, since we're already using it.[/ooc]
[ic=Erilon HP: 39 AC: 46]"Aha!" Erilon cries as he parries away the great wolf's claw yet again, "this is how its done!" He dodges around the giant wolf and lashes out at Lamina[/ic]

EDIT: Oh, and I change my Dodge opponent to Lamina. ;)[/ooc]
[ooc]Quick question
How did he move through an opponents square without so much as tumble checks?
[/ooc]
[ooc]When I said "dodges around" I really meant it. He went around Koeth to N/15, N/19, then to K/19. Haste is neat![/ooc]

And I'm assuming that there's got to be some Reflex save for this. I mean, I'm an Elven Monk, with 24 in Wisdom and Dexterity for gosh sakes. Surely I would realize that a shadow meant something was falling on me and be able to move fast enough to at least try to get out of the way, right?[/ooc]
[ooc] I couldn't find anything for reflex saves and falling objects. I looked because it seems a little cheap and if there was a save I would have posted it, but I could not find anything. I was actually summoning him to grapple you, but when I realized I was still above you, I looked. [/ooc]

Quote from: Sidekick Boy[ooc]Ok. Yeah, that is kind of cheap. Well, maybe they'll fix it in 4.0 :-p[/ooc]
[ooc] If I remember correctly, I think I read where someone used two dimension doors (or similar spell) at the end of a pipe filled with stones or other objects. The doors would transport the objects inside to the other end, so they can build up to 20d6. Then get rid of the bottom dimension door over top of someone so that they take 20d6 x number of objects[/ooc]
[ooc]At least in D20 Modern, they specify a reflex save (based on the object's size) to take half damage from being hit by a falling object.
I'd argue that just as one can argue that by the (normal D20), falling damage is automatic, one could also argue that you -never- take "hit by falling object" damage, since there's no listed way to determine that you were.
[/ooc]
[ooc]Okay, well. After posing the question about dodging a 3-ton Earth Elemental in The Tavern, here's what I got.
QuoteFalling stone trap? You could probably use the same save, just change the damage to fit a 3-ton earth elemental.
Wait, the DMG gives the falling block an attack roll at +15 instead of a reflex save.
Quote from: C'est moiSo, do you think it would be a higher modifier since the Earth Elemental is a Large creature?
The falling block already applied to two squares, but that just meant it rolled to hit everything within that area. So, you could say that it attacked everything within 4 square area, or house-rule a bonus to hit.[/blockquote]
Thanks to Seraphine Harmonium for thinking of the falling block trap.
So, I think perhaps an attack roll at +15 from the Elemental against Erilon & Koeth to see if either of us is hit?
By the way, Orbis is still going to run over there anyway, so no need to ditch the last few posts.[/ooc]
[ooc]
Why +15?
What factors were used to come up with that number, would it be higher or lower for the elemental?
The block is inanimate, while the elemental is living.
The block is set and left there, Lamina summoned the elemental.
The elemental is falling on two of Koeth's square, so would the elemental have two attacks against Koeth?
When the elemental lands where will koeth and Erilon be standing, because they can't share the space? If they move do they provoke AoO?
Do Koeth and Erilon lose their dex bonus?
There are probably other factors I'm not thinking of, but I guess it doesn't matter. I don't have to roll to know the results Koeth dead, Erilon standing untouched
Before reading your post I was going to offer to not crush the gem and do something else that doesn't change the state of the match (possibly even nothing)
I hope none of the questions above sound hostile and I hope they are valid. I don't know it has taken me about about an hour to post this reply trying to make sure there is nothing bad in it.
(I've had a real bad day. I had to do one of the worse things a person sometimes has to do)

Failed so Koeth just stands there with his tongue hanging out watching the stars spin around his head
Edit: That means he takes another 13 damage (From the 14 and17 (+2 for flanking) against AC 16 (21-2 for being stunned -3 no dex)[/ooc]
[ooc]Ok.
I was confused about Erilon's HP (I thought you meant 32 total, silly me, I didn't think to check or add it up). So it's at 7.
Another nat 20 (surprise) and subsequent critical against Sharpeye brings him to 9 HP.
Without his Dex bonus (and therefore Dodge bonuses too) Erilon's AC is 10 + 4(armor) + 1(shield) + 3(natural) + 5(deflection) + 8(Monk/Wisdom bonuses) + 1(Rapier bonus) = 32
So, 17 damage brings him to -10 HP exactly, killing him.
Now, I would assume that after killing him, you'd want to redirect your arrows at Orbis, but none of them would his him. Or, since it only took you one attack, you don't have to take the Full Attack Action and you still have a Move Action left. I'll hold off on Orbis' turn until you decide.[/ooc]

I think that is the longest match yet. I feel bad that you ended up with nothing to do, but it was a good match to test out my Beastmaster. If it weren't for all the lopsided dice rolls I would have been destroyed. :) You could have also won if you kept the bow and shot another round or two. Lamina was at 24 HP.
Wow, wicked fight.
One fairly important point though. As far as i am aware, natural attacks modes only get one attack each (i.e. bites, etc don't get the second and 3rd attacks at lower BAB). So then all of you animals get far fewer attacks.
An all that multi attack does is reduce the penalties on secondary natural attacks to -2 instead of -5.
I was looking this up when making my were dino. If i got extra attacks with each thing for it, then he would have like 20 attacks.
The best example of this rule are dragons. They have really high BAB's but their bites and claws and tails etc only get one attack each. In order to get multiple strikes with natural attacks, you must take rapidstrike and that still only gives you multiple stikes for one type of natural attack.
From the druid animal companion section of the SRD:
Multiattack: An animal companion gains Multiattack as a bonus feat if it has three or more natural attacks and does not already have that feat. If it does not have the requisite three or more natural attacks, the animal companion instead gains a second attack with its primary natural weapon, albeit at a â,¬'5 penalty.
The wolves were totally fine, but based on it's character sheet, thr birds were gettin 2 extra attacks and with both of their naturasl weapons. I believ that thay should have 3 attacks (talon, talon -5 and bite) instead of the 6 shown there.
If i'm wrong about this let me know.
Yeah I know they have the iterative attacks listed, but I only used three attacks. I'm just too use to writing it that way. This was the first time I've used the druid and animal companions. I didn't know if the talons counted as two weapons or just one.
