Magic Workstation (http://www.magicworkstation.com/) is better. (http://www.thecbg.org/e107_files/public/1164939939_9_FT22019_happy.png)

what advantages does that have over apprentice?

I used to use apprentice. It was so fun... I always made black/white, black/blue, blue/white, or blue/black/white decks.

I never really cared for most green or red-related decks. Too many elves (I hate the MTG elves).

Is it Mac compatible?

Umm... <checks help menu> ...apprentice 1.46 i believe.

What! Sacrelige. Red and green are probably my favourites, although blue black holds a special place in my heart. many of my earliest decks were either blue/black, or some red and/or green (goblin, burn, critter. it's all good).

The interface is better IMO. You can draw arrows between cards and the deck editor has a fiter feature which allows for searching the vast M:tG card library. It's been a while since I've used apprentice though. Now if they'd only come out with Ravnica block for Workstation....

Post by: SDragon on December 04, 2006, 05:56:47 PM
ok, i've downloaded workstation, and it seems to look better. between that and (more importantly) having a server to get around doulbe firewalls, i guess it's better. seems to be very buggy, though, and i haven't figured out how to draw the arrows yet. well, i haven't figured most of it out yet, actually.

camptain obvious, are you behind a firewall or a router? if not, maybe we could try a game sometime!

Crit, I'm afraid that I can't find a Mac compatible version for Apprentice... I've been looking for about a year or so now... Oh well...

I've always been a G/U person myself. Or G/R. I've played pretty much every color combo, and my fav ravnica block deck was by far Glare or Ghost Dad... I couldn't choose between them... They were both just awesome.

I don't even know what most of the new cards are or what the abbilities can do. I used to play from about 4th until exodus i believe it was, then very very briefly aroung apocalypse. I only just started playing again about a week ago cause me and some res buddies were getting all nostalgic about it and then got our cards when we went home. for me that consisted of digging a box consisting of a bunch of old busted blue and blacks (since i sold a friend my red green and white cards and some point during my long hiatus) and then trying to use them to beat the new abbilities and combos when my cards were not designed with beating those in mind since said card didn't exist when iused to play (i stopped about 8 or so years ago).

rael posted a link to magic workshop, and you can google "magic the gathering apprentice", and get some site like eleague.com or something like that.

edit- i'm willing to play anybody on magic workshop, and i'm willing to play anybody that isn't behind a firewall on apprentice. i have a few decks i can use.

The combo allowed him to put out a limitless amount of Illusion tokens in play. Tokens kind of work like regular permanents, except for they don't come into play from your library or hand, and when they leave play, they don't go to your graveyard.

Imagine, 98,765,432,123,456,789 creatures put in play in a single turn. That's essentially what I was up against.

Which program is the most up-to-date? I think I might try these out again. It'd be cool if one of them had at least Time Spiral, but if they don't that's ok.

I stopped playing M:tG in 1999.  I remember the day well.  I looked at my bank account and realized I had spent my entire summer's earnings on playing cards...
Title: apprentice
Post by: SDragon on June 12, 2007, 11:47:14 PM
@Realmweaver-- I think they're both up-to-date, but I'm not sure, as I deleted apprentice. MWS has a semi-auto update function, whereas Apprentice updates have to be done entirely manually.

@Ishy-- Both of these programs allow free access to the entire cardbase, so there's no need to worry about spending any more summer's earnings on these. :)

By the way, I found (and have since lost >.<) a site that offers all precon decks, for MWS. Since most of my decks tend to be heavily based on precons anyways, this is a blessing for me. :)

Any with a search function based on what the card does? I had this doom-combo with fecundity in a bg deck, but I somehow can't remember the other cards.

If more people here are getting into this I might as well. I haven't played since Mercadia Mask came out, but if people here are going to start playing online I might start playing again. (Warning most decks I make are not meant to win.)

Think I will get back into it too. I have still have a box of cards from way back when. I can't even remember for sure when I quit playing but it was over 10 years ago. Got into it early and then out sometime after homeland or so.

Will try to DL workstation.

You can pay Netrunner on MWS! Rock!

OK I just downloaded it, I still have to dig out my cards to make a deck, but I have found some of the cards I like in the system.

I have to say after years of not playing, it was good to play again.

I built a deck using the cards I had (there have been a few more editions and expansions since I quit), and it would have worked perfectly had beejazz not had the five color super deck of doom (215 cards). I hate slivers. :P

I'm not at my own computer today, but tommorow, I would like to test out the fantasy deck (read: I don't have the cards needed) that I built.

Also, I wouldn't mind help finding ways to improve upon the decks that I actually do own.

anyone else have problems with the install of Magic workstation? I DL installed and then dl the gamepack which said it was corrupted. It completely messed my system up and had to do a system restore.
