Title: FINAL-LY
Post by: Elven Doritos on December 14, 2006, 12:18:14 PM
Whew! Finals are done for me.... After nearly having a meltdown yesterday, I've a month off of school.

A speech, two tests, and a portfolio of assignments due on the same day. May sound tame compared to some people's schedules, but hey, it was tough.

Share your finals horror stories below!

I have one final today.  Then I go to the airport at 3:00 pm.  My flight leaves Honolulu at 8:30 pm (I'm definantly using the expensive shuttle service that runs at 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm next time.).  I'll get to Maryland on Friday around 2:05 pm.  Fun.

I blame karma.  Karma didn't like that I had a 3 minute Religion exam, so its screwing with me now.

Heh.

My wife is giving finals today. What you don't realize is the amount of work that has to be crammed into those last few days, writing the final, getting it approved and printed, then grading it, computing final grades, getting them submitted and approved...

I think she's gotten about 5 hours sleep total the last two nights.

an online friend of mine recently had two days off during finals due to a horror that actually made national news.

i don't really feel at liberty to say what it was, but if anybody (hopefully nobody) is curious to the point that they want to look it up, it happened near philly.

Finished my last final 45 minutes ago.  I only had 3 real finals, Cognitive Science, French, & Astronomy.  I had an English paper due on Monday that was technically our final grade, and a take-home final in History that was exactly like the 3 papers we'd written for that class, it was basically just another paper covering the last part of the class.  I'm leaving tomorrow morning sometime to go home.  Sweet, sweet home.  Unfortunately, it means I have to access the Intarweb through my Mom's laptop, that hates me with a passion.  The laptop, not my Mom.

I'm having five finals in two weeks' time (currently I'm halfway through, with two down and three to go next week), plus one paper due next Thursday. I've put my life on hold throughout those two weeks, which makes it manageable (though just barely). Luckily for me, I have a nice mix of courses, and the ones that need most preparation time are also the ones I like best. In case anyone's interested, the courses are: Philosophy of Science, Operations Research, Philosophical Anthropology, Mathematical Statistics and Philsophical Ethics. In addition, I had Logic two weeks ago and will have Quantitative Finance on January 3 (argh!) and Computer Programming on January 9. Like I said, an interesting and varied mix of courses, though eight courses in one semester might be just a little bit too much.
