Title: For Laughs
Post by: Tangential on December 30, 2006, 01:04:40 AM
This is a poem I wrote to make fun of my friends obsession with slam poetry.

Green like the color of envy and indigo
Shinging in my eyes
Like some sort of cop car that just doesnt belong
In Utah or even
In the world
And they spin like candycane colors and whirlwinds of shades
And black stripes paint the walls in shadow and light
From the sun
The sun is a Michalangleo
Waiting to pick up his paintbrush
The heart of a star all swirlinging glittering fire
Not unlike the heart of a man all twirling twittering fire

Maybe navy blue is a color not just for jeans
But for men
Cleaning their hearts out like a old hearse
Thats dirty
So black with mud
And it caked with chocolate lies and promises of love
From gods and beauties and [pregnant pause]
The gods are a lugubrious pale pansy
Waiting to blossom in a field of souls
The dieity of emotions is painted all in green
And indigo like the color of confusions.

Heheh.

Walt Kelly called this kind of poetry Blank Verse.  Let me give it a try -

Warbled and wimbled in the screaming blackness
Shaving off the buildings like the whiskers of the world
Unsought as a nostril
Seething with surprise like Santa
Godzilla is coming to town.
