The Illiarth Setting Thread (http://www.thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?24852)
Discuss things about the setting here please.
The material from the Wizards thread has now been entirely copied over.
I briefly skimmed through your WotC thread, and now I can't wait for all that info to get moved over here. I suspect that folks here will find Illiarth to their liking. It seems both cohesive and diverse, if that makes any sense.
I liked the way you handled races, with small variations on the standard racial traits reflecting different cultures (though I'm probably biased, since that's also my own typical strategy for creating PC races).
I also liked the fact that your map showcased the flags for the various countries that appear. That was a clever idea, and added a bit of character to the lands depicted.
I was a bit curious about the name of Goldmoor. It seems that the actual region called the Gold Moor is just a small land on the southern border, far removed from much of the nation of Goldmoor. Why is Goldmoor named after that relatively small, unimportant-looking moor?
Regarding were-trees, are there any other plant-related lycanthropes? I could definately see templates that cause humanoids to transform into shambling-mound- or tendriculos-like forms. Any chance that something like that might exist alongside those were-trees?
i havent read your WOTC thread, but this setting has captured my attention and will be awaiting updates, but first some questions:
Quote from: BeefotronX50 years before the Common Age
Contact with the parallel world is broken, and hordes of chromatic dragons pour out of the Yuinarian portal. Settlements near the gateway are utterly destroyed in a continually expanding holocaust for at least a year. Then, metallic dragons start pouring out of the portal, and the chromatic dragons begin to scatter. It takes several years for the metallic dragons to gain the humans' trust.
Elsewhere, in the recovering continents of Erematia and Menkir, the scattered chromatic dragons begin causing trouble. Under repeated assaults from the dragons, the fragile Menkir Empire can no longer govern its northern territories, which become the independent kingdom of Gansdor.
Is it known how the link between worlds was broken? And im assuming that there are no native dragons to your world?

Correct, the dragons are not native. The link was broken because of the chromatic dragons effectively taking control of the portal as they started coming through. Even after the metallic dragons started coming through, the areas around both sides of the portal became too dangerous, with frequent dragon-on-dragon fights in those places. And then of course the portal was effectively sealed with the pyramid that came afterwards.
