Welcome players! Here's how we'll do it. You guys enter as you will. You can speak to Graybeard or Cecil, or simply do nothing while you wait for the others. We'll play that you guys all know of each other, and can even be well-acquainted if you prefer. If you specifically ask one of the people in the room a question, or make a pointed action, I will go ahead and respond; otherwise, I'll wait until tomorrow to continue.
Cheers, and let the games begin!
All pre-game information can be found in this thread (http://www.thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?22771).

[ic=The Setup]
The Dog's Barn Tavern used to be the most bustling tavern in Sal Boran. Technically, it is still the most prominent tavern in the city, but that is saying little with only two hundred residents currently living within walls that once held thousands of people. A tall, burly bear of a man with flaming red hair and beard sits at a table in the back, with some sort of ledger in one hand, and a tall glass of beer in the other. He is Captain Teral Graybeard (obviously not named after his own beard), and is currently the leader of the few people remaining in this very quiet city. Across from him, with his back to the door, sits a dark, wiry man named Cecil, who was Graybeard's First Mate, and is now the Captain's adviser in this dismal place. The only other person in the room is Tervis, who has quickly instated himself as the town drunk; his head is buried in his arms, with four empty glasses in front of him. His snoring is the only sound heard other than the occasional crackle of wood in the fireplace.
[/ic]
[ic=Naoise Lochán (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=9227)]Naoise walks into the nearly empty tavern. He brushes some of his long, brown hair out of his eyes and gives it a quick look over. He sighs, there's no chance of a paycheck tonight. That's what it's always like now, with really only around two hundred people around, the chances of an audience are pretty small. â,¬Å"Aye well dis is feckin' grand, now tisn't it...â,¬Â he mutters under his breath as he shakes his head.
Naoise walks over to a table against the wall near the middle of the tavern and sits down. He leans his chair back a little, and puts his feet up on the table. After not even a minute, he lets out another sigh and pulls his mandolin and plectrum out. It's not that he doesn't enjoy music, it's just that it's something completely different when you have an audience.
He fingers a chord, but hesitates for a moment. After a second, Naoise begins playing a slow, meandering song in some minor key. He always finds it easier to play when he plays via his feelings and he just can't bring himself to play a cheery song in a place like this.
Naoise wonders when the others are going to show up.[/ic]
[ooc]His first name is pronounced NEE-sha, for those who were curious.[/ooc]
[ic=Fizz (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=7910)]The door to the tavern opens and Fizz comes stumbling in, his eyes a little over half open. "Cap'n Greybeard, is it too late to volunteer to investigate the flames in the sky last night? I overslept, someone was supposed to wake me up," he looks over at Tervis, eyes narrowing. "Clearly I shouldn't have put my faith in a man who offered to share a drink at nine in the morning. I joined him because I really hadn't had a good wine in a while, I'm not sure where he got it, but I wasn't going to pass up an opportunity like that. But it looks like he didn't stop drinking after I left for a nap. Well anyway," he stops rattling on for a second to take a breath, "am I too late? 'Cause I'm really anxious to join the volunteer group, er, if they haven't already left." He looks around the tavern, his eyes roving, when he suddenly spots Naoise sitting right beside him. "Oh, er, I guess maybe I'm not too late. Hey, what's that you're playing, friend? It sounds vaguely familiar, but I'm not sure. Is it a variant on the Ballad of Fifteen Souls? Oh! Is it that one song about that guy who had that magic orb, and then he had to take it to that place to do that thing? I bet it's that one. Is it?" He takes another breath and sits down in a nearby chair, he listens for another second, then starts playing his lute, bringing up a soft countermelody to Naoise's music.[/ic]
[ic=Captain Graybeard]
No, you're still in time. I'm hoping for more than two though. Tell me lads, do either of you know the region of Sardatown very well? I come from the south and never traveled much after I gained my sea legs.[/ic]
QuoteTervis rouses a bit as the two musicians play, and Cecil turns his head around for a quick glance, but seems mostly uninterested. A light pitter-patter of rain begins outside.
[ic=Fizz (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=7910)]"I've been there a couple of times, though, of course, it was a while back. But I'm not exactly intimate with the region, no more than I am with any other area. Which is to say, not much, but enough. Er, so I guess the answer to your question is no, not me anyway." Fizz finishes rather lamely, aware that he was rattling again, and goes back to his lute. He glances up at Naoise, wondering if he knows any more about Sardatown.[/ic]
[ic=Oliver Crow] Crow walks in casually, waves to cecil and then saunters over towards captain Graybeard " I'm itching to get out of this ghost town captain, see a little of my homeland again." He nods to both Fizz and Naoise. " There's not much for a Tracker or a Marine around these parts. This fire may just be some drunken goblins, but its better than wasting away here"[/ic]
[ic=Timothy Gray]A haggard man with black beady eyes and streaks of gray in his greasy hair stumbles in out of the rain. Quickly taking inventory of his surroundings, he stands for a moment to shake the rain from his overcoat.
@ Captain Graybeard: "'ello Cap'n. After all yeh've done fer me, I'm obliged to offer my services in ta investigation of that fire 'twas spotted. Am I too late fer the farewell party?" *glances at Tervis and then returns his gaze to the Captain, kicking his feet uncomfortably.[/ic]
[ic= Dura Bochak (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=8482) ]
A burly figure in a cloak made of feathers of all types walks through the door, a large grey wolf at his heels. He pauses and growls to the wolf, "Stay here Koda" and it promptly sits obediently near the door. He stands back up and walks over to where the men are sitting. "You are the fire-lookers, no? I would want to be one. When can we leave. This town is not a liked-place for me." [/ic]
[ooc]The green text is him talking in orchish. And the bad grammar in his common is intentional. Common is not his first language and he is still trying to get the hang of it.[/ooc]
[ic=Cyyn]A slender figure with wavy charcoal hair walks silently quietly enters the tavern. His dark fur-lined cloak is moist with the rain and his soft leather boots (poorly disguising a simple dagger) are spattered with mud from the street. Under his cloak he wears bands of leather strapped tightly across his torso over a loose tunic and a quiver peeks over his right hip. Over his back hangs a twin-bladed scimitar and a long bow.
A small sabel suddenly appears out of the hood of his cloak and leans in to his ear as if it was talking to him, and he pauses to talk to whisper something back to it. After a moment of hushed conversation, the mink disappears again and he continues across the tavern.
Dodging several wooden chairs, he approaches an authoritative-looking man with a brilliant red beard. "Are you the one investigating the star-fire?" His speech is fluent enough, but thinly accented with elvish. "I am willing to help."[/ic]
[ooc]So wait, it looks to me like we've got two or three rangers/druids (Dura, Korumaine's character, & Oliver maybe?) and two bards (Naoise & Fizz), and whatever Timothy is (I'm guessing Rogue). Is that about right? What a party.[/ooc]
[ic=Fizz (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=7910)] "So, do you know how many folks are showin' up Captian? I don't think we want too many, then again, we don't want too few. Of course, you know what they say, 'there's safety in numbers.' I think that means that the more smart people you have the safer you are. But that really doesn't make much sense to me, smart guys aren't necessarily good in battles. I think it should be 'there's safety in muscle' or 'there's safety in magic'. That would make more sense, at least to me. Anyway," he pauses for a second to take a quick breath, "I think six is a good number for this kind of thing, I mean, it's not like there's anything out there now anyway. What's the worst that could happen?" [/ic]
[ooc]I hadn't thought about that but yeah I guess I am a ranger :P[/ooc]
[ic=Cyyn]"Sounds about right to me. If we have too many it could lead to more accidents, or detection, if situations should arise. That is, what (or who) exactly are we looking for? If you want us to explore somewhere than I doubt you could find a better team." Cyyn pauses, thinking..."But if this is a job for more people, maybe we could split up into two parties?"[/ic]
[ooc]idk why the color for that is not working. [/ooc]
[ooc]
Quote from: [url=http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=8482Dura Bochak[/url] ]
"He is right. It is much good to have more. These lands must be not not crossed alone. Too much to look out for." He glances around at the rest of the bar. "Are there more to come? I wish to go out of here soon. I do not like this town." [/ic]
[ic=Cyyn]"I agree, this town is dead, or dying. We should at least look for clues for the origin of the star-flame. Perhaps the bards can ask some locals if they know anything?"[/ic]
[ic=Fizz (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=7910)] "The folks here are all baffled, if they knew what was going on, why would we need to go check it out? But, I suppose it couldn't hurt to look for someone who was familiar with that area before we left. I don't know anyone who was personally, but I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to find someone who is." Fizz looks around at the others, having stopped playing his instrument once people started arriving. He seems to have focused in on the task at hand, and his face has hardened from its usually simple, boyish appearance.[/ic]
[ic=Cyyn] Likewise to Fizz, Cyyn focuses on finding out more info on the surrounding area. Perhaps the first-mate knows more? He walks over to him and introduces himself. Greetings, my name is Cyyn and I have recently joined your band. We were all wondering what it is exactly that we ae looking for. I figured you might be able to tell us as well as detail us on the surrounding area."[/ic]
[ic=Naoise]Naoise finishes on a dissonant tone, and speaks up.
"Feckin' wasting time here, lads. Nobody lives over dere, so we might as well just check it out ourselves, so we should."[/ic]
[ic= Dura Bochak (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=8482) ]
"Ah, a one of action. I like his thought."
Turning to Greybeard. "Captain, is there others to come? Or do us leave now? [/ic]
Quote from: Captain GraybeardI believe the previous assessment of 'strength in numbers' should apply here. I would prefer even more than you six, but quite frankly, I'm not willing to wait any longer. If the fires last night represent any sort of danger to us, or even if they are the signs of survivors of whatever has happened in this accursed land, we need to find out. Now, I don't know all of you - he looks pointedly at Dura - but I imagine you all want to find out what's happened here.[/ic]
He pauses for a moment to catch his breath, and looks at Cecil.
[ic=Captain Graybeard]
I will be supplying you each with the last of our horses, and Cecil will be accompanying you as well. I am currently awaiting a map, which should be here shortly, so if you have any questions while we wait, now's the time to ask.[/ic]
[ic=Cyyn]"Maybe we should look for some of the survivors and hear their accounts. It could lead to some valuable clues to find out what exactly we need to do. I'll volunteer to lead a group for this purpose if you so choose."[/ic]
[ic=Fizz (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=7910)]"I dunno," Fizz says, seemingly having lost his focus once more, "I think maybe Captain Greybeard and uh," he gestures at Naoise, "this guy are right. We should just head out as soon as possible. If anyone knew anything about the fires, I'm sure they would've said something, right? I mean, it was pretty obvious, it's not like someone could've missed it." He looks around, hoping someone else is going to agree with him.
"Man, these guys are scary. They're all so serious."[/ic]
[ic=Timothy "Gray"] "Indeed. I have walked through almost the whole town to get here, and all the men I encountered were as baffled by the lights as ourselves. And if we ain't just a bunch o' yeller'belly scoundrels, I'd think there wouldn't be any debate bout investigatin', and more actual explorin'." He sighs, and fixes his gaze pointedly on Cyyn. "So when this map gets hear, I'll be ready to leave, with or without any of you who decide to dilly-dally around here."[/ic]
[ooc]Sorry about the gaps between posts guys, limited computer access due to parental intervention and one helluva cold.[/ic]
[ic=Cyyn]"Alright, I'm ready to leave then as well. Are there any supplies we need? If so, we should get them now so when the map comes we can leave immediately."[/ic]
[ooc]
Guys, I'm sorry if there was any confusion on this, but this game is for the players that signed up to play in this thread (http://www.thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?22771). I added one more who asked, but I can't add any more right now. I may add more players at a later time, but for now, the players are:
# Critical Threat - playing Timothy "Gray"
# Sidekick Boy - playing Fizz
# limetom - playing Naoise Lochán
# Captain_Obvious - playing Dura Bochak
# Endless_Helix - playing Donovan Alackwit
# Furor - playing Oliver Crow
# Korumaine - playing Cyyn Vanariel
I have deleted a post and the responsive posts; I know I could have just said to ignore them, but I wanted to keep the flow strong.
Also, I won't be able to update tonight, I'm not actually at my computer. Hope there's no problem with this, there will occasionally be a night I can't update.
Cheer![/ooc]
[ic=Fizz (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=7910)]"All right then," Fizz stands up, anxious to leave, "I don't know about the rest of you, but I feel as though I stand on the precipice of destiny. A single choice could change my entire life. Though I know not what awaits me, I feel great things are on the horizon." He retakes his seat, looking a little winded and slightly embarassed.
"What was that all about? I couldn't seem to control the words that flew from my mouth, I think the sooner we leave, the better."[/ic]
[ooc]Are we waiting for Endless_Helix, or are we just going to work him in?[/ooc]
[ooc]
We'll work him in if he shows up within the next day or so; otherwise, we'll do something else. I'll update this evening once I get home to my computer, btw... hopefully by 8:30 EST[/ooc]
[ic=Captain Graybeard]
I agree that there is no need to ask around town. Anyone who saw the flames last night agrees that it was flames, but has no more input than that.[/ic]
Quote from: Captain GraybeardThank you Sorah. This is what I was waiting for. I sent Sorah out early this morning to the duke's keep here in town. Sorah... knows how to get into locked places. Anyway, he found a local map here, which I will mark with the location of the fires we saw. The fact of the matter is, we have to figure out what happened out there. I'm a little spooked about all this nonsense, and I imagine you guys want to know where all our countrymen went as well. I won't be able to truly reward you men for this, but you will have the gratitude of the people here if you find anything out. Are you ready to leave?[/ic]
[ooc]
For the time being, assume you have the map (I'll help you get the proper direction); my scanner's not working for some reason, which is the whole reason I didn't post last night :-/[/ooc]
[ic=Fizz (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=7910)] "I am ready to leave," he pulls his cloak back on, securing his lute back into its leather case, ensuring that it is safe, but still easy to retrieve if necessary. He also checks his rapier, a battered (and even dented in some places on the guard) but reliable weapon. Its tip is razor-sharp and looks as though it could still skewer a man, despite the poor look of the rest of it.
"I'm not really a map person per se, I prefer to explore the world on my own. But I trust Captain Greybeard's map, especially since it came from the duke's keep." [/ic]
[ooc]I'd like to apologize in advance for my numerous posts, I have no life and lurking in the CBG is one of the few things that keeps me entertained. Thus, I will probably post quite a bit (except on most weekends, when I don't have access to a reliable Internet connection). I've tried to explain it in-game by making my character talkative.[/ooc]
[ic= Dura Bochak (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=8482) ]
"I also am eager to gone. My people were dissapeared in a maybe same fire. Learning of this maybe help find them again. [/ic]
Crow prepares his gear and leans against the door
[ic]Let us go, I need out, too much time cramped in the ruins of this city[/ic]
[ic=Cyyn]"Hold on, before we start rushing off all over, shouldn't we get a heading at least? Sure we have a map but where on it do we need to go?"[/ic]
[ic=Crow]We head for Sardatown if I am correct. I do not have a mount as of yet. How many plan to ride?[/ic]
[ic=Cyyn]"I can walk as well as any, but I haven't had many chances to ride as of yet. I will take a horse if I can, to brush up on my skills."[/ic]
[ic= Dura Bochak (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=8482) ] "I would more like to walk, but if speed is best, i will ride." [/ic]
[ic=Crow]Its been a long time since I've had to ride, and I cannot ply my craft well on horseback[/ic]
[ooc] how far does it say sardatown is on the map?[/ooc]
[ic=Fizz (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=7910)] "I see no reason to walk when the captain is providing us with horses. Besides, we'll get there faster by horseback than by walking, and the sooner we get there the sooner we can figure out what's going on." [/ic]
[ic=Timothy "Gray"]"I dislike riding, at best, as I will make it no secret horses make me uncomfortable. However, I would ride rather than be left behind."[/ic]
[ic=Fizz (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=7910)] "Well, I guess if most of us don't want to ride, we could walk. It would take longer, but if everyone is uncomfortable with riding, it could put us in danger." He turns to Captain Greybeard, "What do you think, Captain? It would mean that you could keep the horses here, and you'd haev them in case of an emergency."
"Horseback would be faster, but if it comes at the expense of teamwork, I'll gladly give it up."[/ic]
[ooc]It's going to take us a heckuva lot longer to get wherever we're going on foot guys. And if we end up in a fight, we could always dismount, to avoid mounted combat, if that's what you're worried about. And we have two or three Ranger/Druids who could calm/catch any spooked animals.[/ooc]
[ic=Naoise]"I normally don't ride," says Naoise as he gets out of his chair, "but we require haste, like."
He turns to the others, "Arra, you aren't afraid of some feckin' horses, no?"
He sighs, "Dere's three ways we can do tis lads: we can either all walk, all take horses, or," he looks at Fizz, "we can split up into two deams. One group goes ahead on horseback and scouts the area, while the other catches up on foot." Naoise pauses in thought for a moment, placing his hand on his chin. "Does anyone have a wee bit o' parchment? If we split up, we're gonna need at least a rough copy of the map, so we will."[/ic]
[ooc]Just some suggestions.
I'd still like to know what exactly we have to work with, in terms of everybody's classes...[/ooc]
[ooc]Let's all ride and get this over with.
And Timothy Gray is a level 3 Rogue[/ooc]
[ic=Crow]I don't care either way, but we should stick together and get there quickly.[/ic]
[ic= Dura Bochak (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=8482) ] this was something about me saying we should leave. [/ic] [ooc]Arggh! I edited my post by mistake instead of replying and now can't remember what it used to say.[/ooc]
[ic=Fizz (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=7910)] Taking the initiative, Fizz reaches forward, grabs the map from Captain Greybeard's hand, and turns to everyone else, "I agree, we're just wasting time here. I've got the map, I saw the horses stabled outside, I'm leaving." He walks past the others and out the door. He looks around, trying to remember where it was he saw the horses. At least, where he thought he saw the horses...
"Well, so much for teamwork. I hope everyone doesn't get mad." [/ic]
[ooc]I demand action!
Or at least a little movement, anyway.[/ooc]
[ic= Dura Bochak (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=8482) ] Dura follows Fizz to the door then, with Koda at his side, he walks out. [/ic]
[ic=Cyyn] Cyyn checks to make sure he has everything he needs, then follows Fizz and Dura out of the tavern[/ic]
[ic=Naoise (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=9227)]Naoise slings his mandolin over his back and follows the others out.[/ic]
[ic=Timothy "Gray"]"Sorry sir about the rudeness here, I'm sure you understand the lack manners to be due simply to the cramped nature of the camp." After addressing the Captain, he scurries out the door after the others.[/ic]
[ic=Crow] Crow saunters out of the inn[/ic]
[ooc]Didn't know one comment would cause such a lag...lo siento[/ooc]
[ooc]You've definitely got maxed out ranks in Craft (distraction) and Proffesion (sidetracker).
Or should sidetracking be an alternative use of the Survival skill...[/ooc]
[ooc]
Guys, I apologize for not letting you know that I would be unavailable this past weekend. Anyhoo, I will be continuing with the game once I get home from work today (around 7:00 EST this evening or so).
Cheers!
[/ooc]
Quote from: Captain GraybeardJust follow the map. I would recommend staying on the path through Vel Dunn, and not traversing the wilderness between roads too much. It could be nothing, but Sorah thought he saw some movement to the northwest of the city out in the plains. Good luck, and Godspeed to you.[/ic]
QuoteHe steps back inside and Cecil comes out. The two quickly clasp arms. Cecil steps into the rain, and Graybeard closes the door behind him.
I promise, I'll have a map up by tomorrow, even if I have to draw it on the computer (ick!). For the time being, assume you have it at your disposal, and you may ask me anything about topographical and urban features within about a fifty mile radius. For your info, the Dunn Road follows the coast to the north all the way to Vel Dunn, which is about 30 miles north, and then the Old Midway goes between Vel Dunn and Sardatown to the west. About 10-ish miles northwest of Sardatown, in the Salt Hills, is a large "X" with the words "fires" scribbled hastily next to it.[/ooc]
[ic= [link=http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=7910][/link]] Fizz mounts the steed quickly and draws out the map, careful to shield it with the hood of his cloak. "Well, it looks like we've got about 40 miles to cover. If we get in some riding tonight, we can be there by tomorrow afternoon or evening."[/ic]
[ooc]Depending on whether they're Light Horses or Heavy Horses. And how much the rider weighs.[/ooc]
[ooc]
They're light horses, and not really even warhorses. They just happen to be all the horses that were brought back across the Mesare Sea on the ships (minus the one the Captain kept for himself).[/ooc]
[ic]Dura mounts the horse, with his wolf running at his side.[/ic]
[ooc]Shall we just assume everyone is mounted and we're ridding? Let'sa go![/ooc]
[ic=Crow]Crow does likewise "ready?"[/ic]
[ic=Naoise]Naoise takes his time getting on his horse. He's never ridden this animal before, so despite its training, neither of them fully trust one another. He walks around it, petting it along it's neck, the most non-threatening thing one can do to a horse.
When he feels it is sufficiently relaxed, he puts his left foot in the stirrup, and starts the horse at a slow trot. As he completes mounting the moving horse, he turns back and says, "Aye."
Naoise looks up, rain pouring down onto his face, he turns back again, and says, "Deh weather's pretty fierce, like. 'T'll slow us down, to be sure..."[/ic]
[ic=Cyyn]Cyyn nimbly climbs aboard his steed, seeming comfortable even though he has spent little time on a horse before. This isn't so bad, it'd probably be better without a saddle. His mink poked its head back out, sniffing wildly and hissing at the horse. A drop of rain spatteres his nose and he sniffs and hides again.[/ic]
[ic=Timothy "Gray"]Timothy clambers atop a rather mangy mare and faces downward to cope with the rain that is running in rivulets down the hood of his cloak.[/ic]
[ic=Crow]As Crow kicks his horse into motion he turns in the saddle " Only a little rain."[/ic]
[ic=Fizz (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=7910)] "That's how hurricanes start, you know. As 'just a little rain.' Not that I think we're in for that kind of weather. Still, it'll make the ground slick and we need to be careful of our horses slipping in the mud." He looks upward, squinting his eyes to try and keep the rain out, and looks at the clouds overhead. "I think we're in for a good long rain, might as well get used to being damp and cold." [/ic]
[ic Dura]"A little rain never hurt no one."[/ic]
[ic=Fizz (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=7910)] "No, but a lot can kill ya," Fizz remarks, not even looking back at Dura.[/ic]
[ic=Cyyn]"Come on cheer up a little. What's our marching (or riding) order?"[/ic]
Quote from: Paranoid Android[ooc]That's from Jumanji, in case it sounds familiar to anyone. The woman says, "A little rain never hurt anybody." And Robin Willaims says, "No, but a lot can kill ya." I figured I'd finish Dura's unintentional quote.[/ooc]
Actually it is a song lyric from Little Rain by Tom Waits. Never seen Jumanji.
[ic]Crow smiles at the comments, shaking his head and withdrawing deeper into his longcoat[/ic]
[ooc]Spot [dice]1d20+7[/dice]

For the remainder of the journey
Apparently I'm not the only one who specialized in Craft (distraction) and Proffesion (sidetracker)[/ooc]
Quote from: CecilI've been told by the Captain to go with you as Sardatown itself, but to go no further. He needs me back within a few days to send a separate group down south. I'll be keeping a log of our journey, in case anything important happens, and once I leave, I'll give it to one of you guys as you continue your exploration. Until then though, I expect you to listen to me; there's no telling what is out there, and we can't all be running around in circles if something happens. Do we have an agreement?[/ic]
[ooc]
I'll be out of town this weekend, but I do plan on checking online every now and then, so if anything happens, I'll be able to continue the story.[/ooc]
[ic=Cyyn]"Agreed."[/ic]
[ooc] Listen: [dice]1d20+8[/dice]
Spot: [dice]1d20+8[/dice]
Ride (if needed): [dice]1d20[/dice] [/ooc]
Wow that is a terrible Ride check.
[ic=Naoise]"Aye"[/ic]
[ic=Crow]" Makes sense" [/ic]
[ic=Fizz (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=7910)]"Yeah, fine."[/ic]
[ic]yes[/ic] [ooc]let's go! c'mon. we've been about to leave for likle a week.[/ooc]
[ooc]Timothy "Gray" is following the party and agreeing to all decisions for movement, within reason, unless otherwise noted. Just to speed things up.
For example, if the party leaves the road, I'll follow. But I do not agree to be sent into combat as a distraction without explicit agreement. Just helping out where I can.[/ooc]
Quote from: CecilWe'll camp at midnight.[/ic]
[ooc]
Guys, I apologize if I'm moving too slowly for you, or doing things in a boring manner. This is my first PbP game, so I'm learning as I read other peoples' games; hopefully things will speed up as I learn more.[/ooc]
[ic=Crow]Crow turns in his saddle to talk to cecil " Is there a possibility that someone from the ships caused this fire in Sardatown?"[/ic]
[ooc]PBP is slow by nature, we've had some distractions too, don't worry about it[/ooc]
[ic=Cecil]
The possibility was discussed between myself and the captain, and honestly, there's no true way to know. As far as we can tell, everyone who is still living in Sal Boran was accounted for last night. Remember, on Wind-month 23, almost fifty people left Sal Boran, and it is certainly possible one of them - or even all of them - was responsible. I suppose we will find out one way or another very soon.[/ic]
[ic=Fizz (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=7910)] "Those were pretty big fires, though I suppose they could be man-made." [/ic]
Quote from: CecilI know we're uninvited, but I'm pretty sure they won't mind.[/ic]
QuoteHe chuckles to himself as he quickly dismounts and leads his horse over to a shed next to the house. He begins a quick rub down of the horse, then grabs his pack and runs into the old brick house.
[ic=Naoise]"Well," Naoise says as he dismounts, "Dey might mind." He leads his mount over to where Cecil left his.
He turns to the others as he walks inside, "No point in standing in the feckin' rain, lads." He has his hand on the hilt of his sword as he follows Cecil inside.[/ic]
[ic=Fizz (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=7910)] "Sigh, I suppose we don't really have much choice. Unless anyone brought a tent?" Fizz dismounts, makes sure his horse his well secured in the barn, and follows Cecil inside, hoping that whoever is inside isn't opposed to trespassing.[/ic]
[ic=Dura] "I guees no rain is better than rain. We should stop here. It nice plan."
He dismounts his horse and tells Koda to go feed himself, then heads into the building with the others.[/ic]
[ic=Timothy "Gray"]He dismounts and secure shis horse as the others did, then follows carefully, ensuring that he is the last one to enter the building, if at all possible.[/ic]
[ic=Crow]Crow ties his horse next to gray and collapses onto the floor once he finishes unrolling his bed[/ic]
Quote from: CecilI know it doesn't seem as though we need guards, but I think it would be a good idea if we took turns watching. I'll take the last watch for sunrise.[/ic]
[ic=Fizz (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=7910)] "Oh, right, abandoned. I can take first watch, I suppose. How long before I should wake up the next person?" [/ic]
[ic=Crow]"never" comes a grumbled complaint from crow, but then he says "six of us, every hour and half, i'll go next" [/ic]
[ic=Dura]"I will take the midnight watch. I must be awake them to speak with my ancestors already, so it is of good sense I watch then."[/ic]
[ic=Naoise]"Well den, I'll mind second-to-last. Be sure to be sure to wake me up, like."[/ic]
[ic=Cyyn]"Put me in too, I can go anytime, as I have no need fro sleep."
[/ic]
[ooc]Sorry for the late posting I was out of town all week to go to a fundraiser and didn't have my computer.[/ooc]
QuoteYou are greeted by a gray dawn, with plenty of clouds overhead to foreshadow more rain. Cecil is not inside the house, but you can hear him whistling to himself outside, wandering around somewhere close by. In the light of day, you can see things more clearly in the house now, and it is definitely obvious that whoever lived here left with only a moment's notice. In the main room (which is apparently a bit of both a kitchen and a living room), a scythe for cutting weeds, as well as a pair of work boots, lays discarded right inside the door, as though whomever had rushed inside didn't have time to put them up. A chest at the end of the room stands open, with a blanket half pulled out. There are two closed doors, one on each side of the room. Outside, Cecil can still be heard whistling, and the horses are beginning to stir.
Guys, I will probably post once on Friday during the day, and that will be it for over a week. To make up for it, and to get us to a stopping point that I had planned, I'll be posting several times today and tomorrow, so for those of you who are here often throughout the day, feel free to tag along. Of course, I work until 6:00, but after that, I will be around, posting and such, while packing for my honeymoon.[/ooc]
[ic=crow] " Lets break fast and get on the road as soon as we can"[/ic]
[ooc]Congradulations[/ooc]
Quote from: CecilWe'll get back on the road as soon as I finish eating and writing. Anyone that needs to eat, I suggest you hurry.[/ic]
[ic=Fizz (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=7910)] Fizz reaches into his backpack, and pulls out a crumbling biscuit. He bites into it, and through a mouthful of it, says, "Ah wanner ahf ders ahee phood eer?" He swallows and then continues, "I mean, any that might still be good. We don't know how long ago these places were abandoned. It could've been just a few days before we got here. In any event, there's bound to be other useful stuff lying around if we look. And it's not like whoever lived here is going to miss their stuff."[/ic]
[ic=Dura]Dura walks outside to greet the day, pulling some dried fruit from his pouch. As he eats it, he gives a whistle and shortly after, Koda comes padding out of the woods.
"Good day to you, spirit-brother. Did you find food for yourself last night? Yes? That's good. The dour man says we are to leave quite soon. Until then, you may enjoy yourself."
"I am okay to leave at time anynow. I would good like to find the fires quick."[/ic]
[ooc]Haha! That's right guys. A vegetarian orc. Well, i guess you couldn't tell just from his meal. But he is indeed a vegetarian orc. WOO! stereotype breaking.[/ooc]
[ic=Naoise (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=9227)]Naoise doesn't eat anything.
He looks over at Fizz disapprovingly, "Best not ask for a song from a leanan sÃÂdhe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leanan_s%C3%ADdhe), lad."[/ic]
[ooc]Linked in case you don't get the analogy.[/ooc]
[ic=Cecil]
It's possible this house was abandoned recently, but highly unlikely. However, I have not searched around inside the house, so feel free to do so... I don't think the owners are going to say anything.[/ic]
QuoteCecil continues writing in his journal without looking up.
[ic=Fizz (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=7910)] Fizz continues turns to Naoise, mouth full of biscuit once more, "'Eenan Fee? Oo eph at?" He manages to chew and swallow the biscuit in his mouth, then stands up and looks around. "I think I will see if anything useful might've been left behind."
With that, he wanders around the house, looking for any kind of supplies that might be helpful
Search: [dice]1d20+2[/dice] [/ic]
[ooc]@Thread Evoker - Props to the vegetarian Orc!
@limetom - Is leanon sidhe against eating breakfast, or what?
@Ishmayl - Fizz is looking for any kind of useful item. Tents, good ropes, weapons, food, etc.[/ooc]
[ic=Naoise]Naoise simply shakes his head. Obviously, his subtlety went right over Fizz's head. "Self, be sure to be sure be less subtle with yer man.", he mutters to himself with a sigh.[/ic]
[ooc]@Paranoid Android - I'm implying that Naoise is superstitious, and that he feels that we shouldn't be taking things that don't belong to us, especially if the owners mysteriously vanished. Vengeful spirits and all that.[/ooc]
[ic=crow]As he packs his things he rips of chunks of a piece of smoked meat " We waste time" [/ic]
[ooc]
Fizz - I'm just going to assume you check the entire house; let me know if you actually check the shed and stables as well. I've sent you a PM.
Guys, I'll be checking this throughout the night, as well as most of the early day tomorrow, so feel free to do things if you have anything to do.
[/ooc]
[ic=Cecil]
I agree. We're wasting time. It's time to pack up and go.[/ic]
QuoteCecil stands, folds up his ledger, and walks outside to the makeshift stable. He spends a few minutes gearing up the horse for the ride, and then leans up against a post, waiting for the rest of the group.
[ic=Fizz (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=7910)]Fizz wanders back into the main room, "Well, I was able to find some rope and a scabbard, as well as some coins, as though that will do us any good." He follows Cecil out to the stable and prepares to leave.[/ic]
[ooc]Not going to check anywhere else. I got VERY lucky with a natural 20 on my Search check, and I'd probably roll terribly on this check. Besides, I don't think I'd find anything else of use anywhere else.[/ooc]
[ic=Crow]Crow wanders around the empty house, looking at the family effects "Coins are as good as shit with no one to take them from you." He picks up a rotting plate "wonder what happened." crow tosses the plate into the hearth and follows the others into the stable, saddling his horse and strapping his pack in. "ready?" [/ic]
[ic=Cecil]
Everyone ready? Good, we ride.[/ic]
QuoteCecil mounts the horse and, without looking back, trots back out to the road, heading north.
[ic=Crow]Close behind cecil is Crow, digging into a pouch for his rolling papers. In a few seconds he's rolled a cigarette and has produced a tindertwig to light it. " Helps in the morning" with that he continues to smoke it, irritating his horse to no end, its ears twitching and an ocassional snort of what seems like derision.[/ic]
[ooc]Crow just continues on without a word till something happens.[/ooc]
[ic=Fizz (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=7910)] Fizz follows along on his horse, playing his lute as they go.[/ic]
[ooc]Fizz likewise simply follows unless something comes up.[/ooc]
[ic]Dura follows along, Koda at his side, glacing at the lands around them.[/ic]
[ooc]ditto[/ooc]
[ooc]
Guys, I feel bad that we didn't get to the place I wanted to before we stopped, but it's time for me to say goodbye for 10 days or so. I hope everyone still wants to play once I get back... I promise, there are plenty of things to happen, it's just been a bit of a slow start.[/ooc]
