Well, let's get this party started.
With the change in editors, the guide will also be experiencing a change in schedule. Starting now, the guide is running on a dual-month schedule, where each guide is in development for two months, but still releases on a monthly timeframe.
For the first month of any one guide, authors will be given the chance to write at their leisure and submit content. After the deadline hits, the guide moves into the hands of it's talented staff, who edit it and bundle it up to be released at the end of the month. While editing is happening on issue five, we will be accepting submissions for issue six.
So, what's in store for July? Deserts? Planar travel? Sci-fi?
Please discuss anything related to issue six here. And remember that this is a publication written by you, so if you want the guide to feature a specific theme or topic, say so and make it happen!
Submissions for articles and columns, as well as any guide business should be sent to campaignbuildersguide(at)gmail.com
Thanks everyone, for making this magazine a reality. ^_^
- Rael
Oh, and we're looking at a submission deadline of June 15th, which can be pushed back to the 20th if need be.
Uh... I'd love to do a scifi theme. I'm having fun with my setting and have a 3/4 finished review of Ex Machina that (I think) missed the issue five deadline.
Anthing related to my setting, though... I don't know how long it'll take before I'm ready for the 2.0 of the setting. I'd be happy to do one of those interview things, though.
Deserts and planar travel could be cool too.
I second the idea of a sci-fi setting 'theme.' THe genre doesn't get enough love around here methinks.
I'd say sci-fi, but i love planar travel. *Initiates chant of: "Planar Travel! Planar Travel!"*
Planar travel always kind of struck me as one of the more science fictional elements of fantasy... that and aberrations.
There's an article I wrote that was originally intended for the second issue. Since it didn't make the cut for that issue, I put a tiny bit more into it, and am willing to submit it for any future issue.
Another one already? I haven't finished procrastinating for the last one. :P
Actually I'm waiting for a friendly neighborhood mod to look it over since the article was his idea. (There is no hurry friendly neighborhood mod, just making a statement)
Sorry Poseidon, I actually did look it over, and just forgot to send you a response!

Wrong friendly neighborhood mod. :P I just need to work on an article with Brainface and I'll have a trifecta.
That reminds me, whatever happen to dagger?
If 'Sci-Fi' is decided on as the theme, then I may be able to submit an article about things that blur the line between fantasy and sc-fi rpg and story settings (especially items).
Over the next few weeks, i'm going to be developing many such items for my setting, Ifpherion, so i'll be doing plenty of research about it.
daggerhart works on his own site now, so doesn't have time for this one anymore, unfortunately.
Planar travel Huh? I may be interested in writing something along the lines of how to develop a cosmology, to go along with the previous article on pantheons.
Planar travel...you just struck a chord.
Quick someone inspire me! If I find inspiration in the next week or so I will definately apply for an article slot.

*Waves hand* You
are inspired. *waves again* You
want to write two articles for the next issue of the Guide.
Well I'll be subjecting you all to the horror that is Border Patrol part... four, I think I'm on?

Waking Dream: Creating memorable planar locations
People From Beyond: A look at life in the Far Realms
Shockwaves of Divinity: The impact of deities on extraplanar realms
Oh, and you need not "apply" for a slot, just send us the article before deadline. ;)
Tips on creating new pantheons: perhaps even a series on creating interesting, unique polytheistic pantheons, monotheistic, etc
Kesh, inspiration from your own site, how about a series of articles on how to use real-life history to create role-playing experiences.
right, Ill try to find time to write the pantheon article in between homework and preparation for my dnd campaign.
I didn't keep track of the discussion of Issue Five, but I was just thinking and this seems a fairly simple and obvious thing to do, so if it's been thrown out there, my great apologies -- in our Alliance of Creative Communities, Plotstorming is running a fiction contest and the Cartographers' Guild has a Featured Map they do. Why not take the winner of the contest and the featured map and add that to the guide, just with a short blurb along the lines of "courtesy of Plotstorming.com and the writer, so-and-so." Same thing with the map.

I assume this is true for non-themed articles, as well?
Appologies about the lateness of my article; I was unable to complete it in time due to work and dreaded real life issues. Not that I had really made it public what I was working on.
I may have some very crunchy things to add for issue 7.

Tis not a bad idea, and very similar to an idea Ishmayl and I had already tossed about. :)
I second this notion. Let's get some word from Rael and Rose on it, and if they're yes, we'll ask Robbie over at CG and see what we can do.

This idea is now approved of by R&R. Go forth creative alliance members, and return bearing awesomeness for the next Guide.
The May PlotStorming.com contest has concluded and we have a winner! Wohoo!
I guess the "biggest problem" is that the story doesn't fit into the sci-fi/planewalking motif. But if that's ok then...
How about a short blurb about PlotStorming.com to go with the story?
And if all that's ok, I'll send you a good doc by Sun night.
We'd be happy to publish a blurb (as well as adds for Fantasium, which I already had planned).
Theme is never an issue. The themes, as we've tried to make totally clear, are just for inspiration.
Looking forward to it,
- Raelifin, Guide Coordinator
Well... I've still got that chunk of review, but I'm stuck as to how to stretch it out... any chance I could send it to the editors and get some feedback?
Okay, review of Ex Machina's done. Might also do a few other reviews of other things.
Hey, sorry for not getting back to you on that. I'm glad you got it done. :)
(Finals are a pain. Just 4 more days for me.)
I sent you an e-mail re another possible article.
Thanks. The official email is campaignbuildersguide @ gmail, but I got it. ^_^
Question: Would you guys like me to extend the deadline to the 20th? I think it might be good, seeing as issue #5 will probably be a tad late.
Why not? I might be able to get a little bit more done by then.
Yes, I would like that :) I'm still running behind on my article, though I finally at least got a rough draft done.

I am still here if you need help......
I was hoping #5 would come out before the deadline for articles for #6 :(
Is it at all possible to still submit an article for #6, or will it have to go for #7?
If they're well edited and ready to go, send 'em in and we'll try to work them into #6. Does everyone want to extend the issue 6 deadline?
Thanks sdragon, we'll probably see your article in issue #6.
