Title: What's Going On: State of the Xathan Address
Post by: Xathan on May 29, 2007, 02:31:40 AM
As is my habit, I'd figure I'd give you all an update on what I'm working on, as well, as always, request you point me to anything you want me to review. I am re-instating my one for one review policy, where any review you do for something of mine grants you a review of equal or greater length (if possible) of something of yours : it only seems fair, after all. :) As for my posting, it looks like this summer shall consist of alot more Xathan than the past few months, but as this weekend demonstrated, I will still vanish occasionally for a couple of days without warning, mainly because life has a tendancy to flare up like that, but, on the whole, I shall be posting in a manner that resembles regularly.

Current Projects:

ZOMG Zombies!!!: My zombie setting / current campaign. This is one of the few projects with a thread up, but more will be coming soon. I think I might split it into two threads, a journal thread and a content thread, to keep things clearer.

Moons of Keldor: My sci-fi setting, still heavily in the works. It will take place among the moons of the Keldor system, a star orbited by several gas giants with multiple moons capable of supporting life. Expect aliens, robots, psionics, space warfare, and much of my own nastiness, interspersed with some Lovecraftian elements and an alternate dimension that will hopefully give the Far Realms nightmares.

Supermodern: never dead, my superhero setting will be updated soon, with more of a focus on history and current culture, and less of a focus on individual heroes (though they'll be plenty of villains) : I don't want to populate it too heavily, lest the PCs become crowded out. And don't worry, I know I owe people replies on this setting, and I do not intend on disappointing.

Super punk 2085: combining my Shadowrun-inspired timeline (Earth 2085) and my brief-lived superhero cyberpunk setting, Superpunk 2085 will feature cyborgs, space-stations, alternate dimensions, and metahumans in what will hopefully be an all new light.

Pirates: Yes, you read it right Posideon. After seeing At World's End, my desire to make this setting was rekindled, and I fully plan on remaking it, though I'll be completely redoing a lot of the existing material.

As well as two more, codenamed Fantasy 1 and Fantasy 2, one being the background for an MTG set and the other being the setting for a second upcoming game I'm DMing, but details on those are on hold (especially for Fantasy 2, because I want to tailor this world to suit my player's tastes for their enjoyment and mine.)

What I want to know is, what do you want to see most? I'm going to be writing about them as they come to me, but I like knowing what people want to see here on this message board.

Puzzling.
I don't know what to vote for.
Really, all of them look interesting.
All seem to have something that keeps me from voting for the other.
Tough.
Every one of them calls to me to vote for.
Some how I will have to decide and vote later.

Actually, I was pretty fond of Pirates, as well.

@ Pos: I probably should have just told you not to vote, since I know what you want. I like the spelling out the word, though. :P

@ all: Ok, pirates update it is. Anything else besides pirates sound interesting to you guys?

The Moons setting sounds interesting.  I was interested in your prior fantasy project, but you don't really have enough information in original post to justify voting for that right now.  I'll be curious to see how it develops, though.

Perplexing.
I didn't realize I voted.
Rereading the summaries again, I think I might have a second favorite.
Although since I don't know what I voted for as my first favorite, I may pick it again.
The Zombie campaign is interesting.
Eating brains is my second vote.
Supermodern would be my third

Yeah, I remember you really liked - Aelithia, I think was the setting you liked. I may revisit that for Fantasy 2, as I'm stuck on what to make for this players, mainly because I haven't actually met half of them. :P

Moons, then, shall be updated today as well as pirates, (though dont' expect anything until tonight) since I wanted to do some non-fantasy work anyway. :)

I am amused. :p I'll try and update supermodern and zombies on thursday, especially since I do have a game of Zombies tomorrow. :)

Hehe, looks like everythings getting a bit of props. I just found out I won't have as much free time at work as I thought, but I'll be posting a little bit of everything over the next couple of days as I work on new ideas. :) Glad everything is getting some love, though, it means I'm on the right track. :D

Aside from pirates I've got to say moons sounds cool.  I like science fiction, but I can't talk any of my nerd friends into running a sci-fi game for me.

Just a heads up, I'm going to be in DC this weekend on vacation with teh familiy (bleh). As such, no computer for me, but I'll have notebooks, so much writing will probably occur and therefore there will be much posting upon my return. :D

Today I'll try to get some things done, but no promises as I prepare for vacation.

Ok.  Hey, maybe some serious inspiration will occur in DC.  It is a rather historic town.  City.  Thing.
