Yay for the change! Everything seems to be much faster now and all.

However, the characters in my name are a big problem, because my account name has also been changed (it used to be Túrin, now it's T[weird A and weird circle thingy]rin) which is a problem because I won't be able to type that and thus won't be able to login again when my "remember me" thingy expires again (or from another computer).

Just in case: could you please send me an email when there's some sort of solution for this because it is possible that I might not be able to get to the site. Thanks.

Túrin

Yeah, this is one of the first things we'll take care of once brain gets online.

Túrin, I believe it's fixed (at least temporarily).  I just went to your account, and edited your login name to be properly, Túrin.  We'll see if it holds.

So far, so good. Thanks!

I figured some problems might crop up in older, unused threads, and that those problems might also affect newer (and possibly future) threads.

I was right on the first part: check out the Setting Showcase, week 9.

You may want to provide a link to the page you're referring to. Do you mean the actual campaign setting, the news page, the archives page or the forum thread about it?

Yeah, your name is pretty much the bane of my existence. However the hell Ishmayl fixed that, i'd like to know ;)

Also, if your name went crazy, every single campaign setting thread with umlauts and funky accents should have done the same thing.

For some reason, brain, it only did it on some characters.  For instance, it screwed up Turin's accent for his login name, but for his username (the one we see on the forums and such), it showed fine.  Same with Jurgen's little dot-thingy.

I noticed in the Arena thread (http://www.thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?17551) It seems to have made funny characters out of ' and ". But only in the first post

Apparently, the "Latest Forum Posts" section thinks its in a different time zone than the actual forum posts. The time stamp on the last post made in a thread changes between "Latest Forum Posts" and the thread itself.

EDIT: And apparently, my posting in this thread also changes time stamps in the "Latest Forum Posts" section, which just jumped to yet another time zone.

Actually my user name was funny too, but I fixed that as soon as I came online after the move. I'm fairly certain the same happened in Jürgen's case.

If you look at any of my older posts that I signed with "Túrin" they also look funny.

@ Meeps: The times on the latest forum posts thingy have always been a bit shifty, at least for me. Usually they show up right (using my account's timezone) but sometimes they decide to use another timezone. Refreshing the page usually solves this.

A lot of my older threads look like this:
http://www.thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?31002.post
It seemed to only affect the apostrophes, if I noticed correctly.

Some of the FAQ needs to be cleaned up to rid it of the funny characters that plague some of the older post and user names.

Umlauts, accents, apostrophes, quotes (the html left and right quotes, probably not "), MAYBE ?.
The 26(52) english characters and punctuation (anything on a standard american keyboard) should all be fine.

For the curious, this is a "character set" error. (or character page?) The database thinks it's windows-1252 (or something) when it's really utf-8 (or something). If you don't understand, you can join the club. If you do, I have a database you can fix. :)

I don't actually know how to fix it, but I've figured out how to save people who are editing old posts a ton of time.

Copy the post over to MS Word, and use the replace function. Each symbol is consistantly replaced with the incorrect symbol, so â,¬,,¢ is always ' , making replace a simple way to fix your post. :)

Did the server switch mess with the hosting options? Cause I can't access my stuff.

Yes, it did, the database has to be linked back up; daggerhart has already been informed, and he's going to fix it this weekend.

It also doesn't like to accept new links for remote avatars. Whenever you accept the new settings it clears the input box.

Well I can't wait for the hosting to get back up and running. I did a complete overhaul of the Shattered Kingdoms site. I really like the layout of the new version a lot better and can't wait to get it up and running.

Apparently all functions that require uploading are down. At least, I can't figure out how to upload files, and the hosting is down too, so...

Hosting is not working still.  I can access my files now, but I cannot edit them.  When I try to save an edited file, I get the following error:

I forget if this was an old bug or not, but I am unable to type "$180," or, I'm guessing anything following a $, in the Tavern.

I believe it thinks of it as a variable, and simply returns "0."

I believe that this was an old bug, as I had issues with it the last time I tred to list expenses in the tavern, which was before the server change.

The server has no email program currently installed. It might be a while before this goes back up.

I can upload a .jpg file fine for an attachment to a post, but make it a .jpeg file (the same exact thing) and the site has a conniption and says it's not allowed.

I'm not sure why this is...
