Title: Hey all
Post by: Melvin on August 22, 2007, 06:13:59 PM
I guess this thread serves as a rudimentary default introduction. I am know across teh interwebz as Melvin. New to this site, by no means new to gaming (live or play-by-post). I was happy to find this site, as it not only provides a means to discuss a few campaigns I've thought of, but my campaign setting I've been working on for little over a year (I'm compiling it onto wikispaces, below in my sig. I've just started, so there's not much). I do, however, have a few questions about the site and its composition and policies. Namely:

What is your policy on hosting a game on the forum primarily for use of dice rolls (handling real time discussions with an instant messaging app), with people who may or may not necessarily become members?

A few of the subforums confuzzle me. Where, for example, do I garner support for a PbP game I'd like to start?

Which subforum do I post a campaign setting on? A campaign? Is there a distinction?

That's all for now, but I'm almost postitive I'll have more later.

First, let me issue a hearty welcome to the CBG. :D It's always good to see new creative members.

This question I cannot answer directly. I guess El(ven)Do(ritos) or Ishmayl may be more capable of answering that one. However, why not just use an online dice roller? Although I've never played in a PbM or PbP game, if I remember correctly there are online dice rollers that allow you to save your results or mail them to other participants.

PbP games and related threads usually go to the Play-by-Post Roleplaying (http://thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewforum.php?14) forum.

Campaigns can be found in the Homebrews (http://thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewforum.php?12) forum, while campaign settings (and generally speaking campaign specific crunch) go to the Campaign Elements and Design (http://thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewforum.php?7) forum. General mechanical stuff goes to the Meta (http://thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewforum.php?8) forum.

Don't hesitate to ask your questions. And always remember: there are no silly questions, only silly answers. ;)

Hope I could help you a little.
Regards, Ra-Tiel.

Welcome! This is a great site to get questions answered. I also suggest you go to the Rogues Gallery (http://thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?4.last) and introduce yourself. You can read up about all of us and join in with your own brand of mayhem.

Welcome to our community. No trees were harmed for the making of this website, but numerous electrons have been inconvenienced.

Excellent. Glad to have you around.

The reason I ask about hosting the game here instead of using an online dice roller or gaming app is because all the members of my group have really wacky ISP and firewall settings; it's almost impossible to port forward.

And thanks to all for the warm welcome! It's good to be here.
