THE BEGINNING
In the beginning there was a deathless one. Rorunay was it's name. Rorunay lived alone for many thousands of years. He grew lonely of that and he cried. From those tears came the world: Felyaern and came his servants: Goefnel, Roefsul, Koefon, Doefsar, and Noeffed. Each was granted with domains in the world to rule over. Goefnel was to rule the underground and forges. Roefsul was to rule all of the air and sky. Koefon ruled the water and Doefsar ruled all plants. Noeffed was to rule all animals. All five Rorukarath as they were named by Rorunay were to watch over and protect the land.
While the five Rorukarath tilled the land, they grew bored of eachother and the animals. Goefnel created dwarves in the likeness of himself, however, they were long lived but not deathless as he. Roefsul created the Dragons while Koefon made (dunno yet). Doefsar made the Doevoi(Halflings). Noeffed made humans. Each were born unto different areas in the world. The Goenkar, the dwarves named themselves, lived underground while the Dragons lived in the sky and claimed the Zraal Islands for a haven while they were on the ground. Doevoi lived among plants, and in them. The humans lived in the mid-section of Quilnar. Goefnel was Rorunay's first made and allowed to create one more race: The Gnomes, to live with the dwarves underground.
OF THE ALLIANCE OF GNOMES AND DWARVES
The dwarves and gnomes lived in very differing cities; each lacked what the other had. While the dwarves had defenses and the like, the gnomes had inventions, machines, and alchemical devices. Then the Mektunok came. They scoured through every city until there were only 10 left. Seven dwarvish cities and three gnomish. The dwarves needed the gnomes' ingenous machines and the gnomes needed the dwarves' strength and power. they forged an alliance and drove the Mektunok out of the underground.
THE CREATION OF CARKENOFF
All god-made sentient beings were given a gift. Men were given a jewel of Noeffed, vhis greatest possesion, which could give incredible power at a terrible price. Noeffed made them promise never to use it and keep it safe for him. They could not contain the temptation to see what it would do. A man by the name of Carke one day took it and brought it to the most populated area so that all would see his great power. However, the evil thing that it was, it would not give him strength greater than the gods. As he used it, he transformed into a gruesome figure of burned flesh and ooze and a face of a skull. He screamed in agony and cursed the gods. He left for the most northern wastes of Quilnar. Ever since, he has hated the gods and created evil beings to destroy them and do his bidding: The Mektunok; evil beings whom look much like him however with lesser power.
Wouldn't gnomes be closer to earth elementals than little dudes under your mythos?
Saying that "Gnomes are living inventions of the dwarves created for the original purpose of to invent for them." seems like a bit of a misgnomer, seeing as they were crafted to defend the dwarves.
Goefnel-Sharmoth just seems to show up without any explanation. I was vary confused by it. What *is* it?
If gnomes were made to defend Mektunok, wouldn't they be great warriors instead of craftsmen? Trap warfare is only really useful if you're vastly outnumbered but have a lot of resources (and in real life, this leads to using the resources to buy troops or sue for peace). It seems to me like you're building the history around a race that someone else designed instead of building a race to fit your world.
What do you feel gnomes add to Felyaern?
Carkenoff is a fairly interesting twist on Pandora's box, but unlike the original myth, I don't see the core idea behind this one. It seems like "disobedience leads to becoming evil." But if someone is disobeying, aren't they already "evil" by some sense of the word? Wasn't it wrong for Noeffed to mess with his creations in such a way?
Do you have rules defining your names or are they just inventions of fancy?
What do you feel makes Felyaern exceptional?
What do you feel makes Felyaern awesome?
What do you feel makes Felyaern interesting?
Do you like raspberry scones?
Do you feel I ask too many questions?
Goefnel, is a god and sharmoth means gift of so goefnel-Sharmoth means gift of Goefnel. Each god gave a gift to their peoples and it just so happens that Goefnel gave a gift which could give life to things. Gnomes were not made to defend Mektunok but to defend against th Mektunok, which i will get to later.
some names are just for fancy while others mean things.
Noeffed wanted to see if his Humans were loyal to him or not. Im gonna edit somethings into that post to have it make a bit mores ense. i will change the thing about gnomes.
Felyaern is exceptional: how many settings are based off of undead, however in their beginning history, nothing is mentioned of it at all really, just a few hints
Felyaern is awesome: ive been reading the Silmarillion, and in a way, kinda sorta basing the beginning of off that in a couple of ways and...NO ELVES!but there is fishmen!
Felyaern is interesting: im gonna have to go with... it just is... i hope.
I really enjoy your names. They aren't my cup of tea, but they're consistent in the way they're set up and I like that. Keep the same convention going.
I rather dislike the fact that the gnomes were just thrown in as an afterthought. Either make them created at the same time as the dwarves or through some historical event that warped dwarves to make gnomes. I don't know, but having the preference for Goefnel just strikes me as a creative cop-out.
Carkenoff and the mektunok are really cool. That's a good racial history.
The setting is based off of the undead? I must've missed that.
I would prefer if you didn't use an illegible font on your maps. It makes them rather hard to read (hence the term, illegible).
That said, I'm looking forward to see more. Yes, much more.
sorry bout the maps. i may change them in the future.
ok. i pretty much have a complete writers block for this right now so it might be a while before i get anything up.

VARIKAX
Varikax, was once Carke's friend. He and Carke had decided to use Noeffed's gift. When Carke used it and became Carkenoff, he left. Varikax left with him, and when Carkenoff began to create the Mektunok, he transformed VArikax to become slightly less powerful than him, yet still very powerful, and he put him at the position of Lieutenant in his army.
Mektunok
The Mektunok were once common people, but now transformed, tortured, and maimed by Carkenoff in such a way that they are filled with hatred for all things. CArkenoff first tortures and maims them until they hate everything. Then, he kills them and brings them back to life, to get rid of their hatred of him, however, they still hate everything else. He then gifts them with magical powers to make them extremely powerful. Carkenoff then implants them into his ary, and when he has enough, he attacks settlements, towns, and even cities, which he takes the resources from, and the bodies to create more Mektunok, to amass an army to destroy the Rorukarath
DRAGONS
natural dragons(those created by Roefsul) are usually 10-12 feet tall, standing on their hind legs. They have scaled bodies and are the only known race to exhibit any type of psionic powers. All dragons are extremely rare, especially tainted dragons. Dragons come in any color, but are usually gold, silver, bronze, red, green, black, or blue. There are a few prismatic dragons as well.
When the Rorukarath were created, they each were told to create their own race. Roefsul created a race in his likeness, the dragons. they were, as he was, aloof, and loved the skies. HE gave them wings to fly, and made them talle than all the other races, and smarter. They were more aware of the deities as well. They were the second race to come into being, so they were one of the first to choose where to live. the went to the Zraal islands, and lived with very little outside contact. However, after many hundreds of years of peace, a giant, distorted man came with magical powers as the deities, but full of spite and hatred. with him he brought an army. Because it was so great in numbers, the army took many dragons. after taking hundreds of dragons, he left. none know exactly what he did, but they do know that Carkenoff made them stronger, larger, evil, and full of hatred and greed. Those are called tainted dragons. [note]natural dragons will be a playable race with hopefully, they look like pseudo dragons a bit but larger and no stinger.[/note]
PLANES
felyaern

contains a single god of travel, just as powerful as Rorunay

Carkenoff's current residence

home of fey. Contains a god of pleasure, just a powerful as rorunay

Home of the god Ravec, god of birds and death
There are other gods. Not in Felyaern but the other planes. Those planes were the home of the deities besides Rorunay. They also made beings and worlds. They are simply not well known to the races of Felyaern except for a few well schooled people.
