Title: Recruiting for a sci-fi game
Post by: Stargate525 on September 11, 2007, 01:00:27 AM
To satisfy my (perhaps endless?) lust for roleplay, I'm thinking about starting up a sci-fi play by e-mail game, and was wondering if anyone was interested.

The setting would be my long lost Lost Horizons (http://www.thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?26496.post) setting.

The way I'm thinking it right now, you'll take the roles of a crew, down on their luck and looking for a break. Races are open, and if you want to make a new one, by all means run it by me. I'm also, unless the majority want otherwise, going to go freeform on this. I want it to build up the info on this setting, and since they'll be switching editions, which will probably have repercussions into the d20 future setting (I HOPE SO), there's no point in me making out a bunch of crunch that'll never be used.

Anyone up for it?

E-mail? are there better ways or is this on purpose. Like, for instance, may I recommend www.rpol.net?

Yeah I was looking at that... I dunno, I guess I'm asking two questions;

one, is there enough interest among you guys for this, and

two, what method do you prefer? RPoL is cool in that it does have quite alot of features.

I'm definitely interested.  I've never actually used RPoL, but I'll check it out.

How does play-by-email work?  Do you get a bunch of responses in, then post an update online, or what?

play by email is similar to play-by-post. Instead of using a forum, you get a string of replies being sent back and forth. For instance, I would send out an email to everyone playing, then another person sends out a reply, again to everyone, and so on.

[poof]

I'd recommend Gmail if you go that route, or anything that groups emails by conversation.

There it is. Mention that you're a CBGer, and you automatically get in.

So there is no "publicness" to a play-by-email, I take it?

No, there isn't. But we decided not to use that, so the point is moot.

I'll play a pilot. Don't have anything more than that right now, but I'll work on it :P

Maybe a Hologram, if I can integrate myself with the computer systems.

We've still got open position for a medic/science dude. Or you could play someone else, who just doesn't have a set position.

Sorry Psychotic, we discussed it in the Tavern and not in the thread. My bad, should have posted it here too.

The loveable rogue/captain Meldric Gorfyddyd(Modeled after Hans Solo, I've always wanted to play a character like him.)! Also, SG, on the forums, the OOC Chat thread is locked. Be there a reason for that?
