To sate my own curiosity, and to possibly aid in running future PbP games, who owns what systems? I'm not really looking for individual books, but more for the "core rulebooks" of each system.
To get things started, I own:
*3rd Edition Dungeons and Dragons
*3.5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons
*Iron Heroes
*Arcana Evolved
*Tri-Stat BESM
Et tu, CBGers?
Only 3.5 D&D
3.5 as well.
3.5 + Splatbooks
3.0 Core
The Hero System Core Rulebook
A few free-online systems, like Risus and Fudge
Iron Heroes D20 is the only book I own, however both D&D and D20 Modern are available for my perusal in the form of online SRDs.
Only 2nd ed (minus the DMG, which I never got) and 3.0
3.5 is a racket and a conspiracy to steal my hard-earned money and I want no part of it - any improvements I just take from the online SRD.
3.0
BESM third edition
D6 star wars
d20 starwars
d20 advanced magic (not sure if this counts)
This brief summary. Rather than gain allowance as a child, I got RPG books.
3.0, 3.5 D&D. (most, as in Completes, MMs, Both PHB and DMGs, BoED and BoVD, variety of others)
Eberron
White wolf core. (WoD, Vamp, Were, Prom, Scion, Exalted 2nd) Some additional WW (Old Vamp, Mummy, Demon)
d20 starwars. (core and alien anthology)
WoT rpg.
Some green ronin (book of Righteous, Book of Fiends)
1st Edition D&D (PHB only)
3.5 D&D
Iron Heroes
2nd Edition Mutants & Masterminds
Deliria
World of Darkness Core (none of the specialized games, ie. Vampire)
I collect the Core books of RPG's so that I can play most anything. If a gamer comes up, I'll probably buy the book. I'm looking at buying some Gurps or some form of Cthulhu RPG in the future.
3.5 + a small library of non-setting specific supplements
D20 Modern
Naruto d20
Pokemon d20 + Vile Darkness supplements
W40k 3e and 4e
AD&D core reprints
1st ed "Basic Rules Set" and "Expert" set
Battles of Star Angels and Space Devils alpha testing
Pokemon SAME 1st ed
I only own:
3.5 Core + Loads of Spat Books
Star Wars SAGA
Exalted: Second Edition
1st Ed
2nd Ed + skills and powers
3.0 Ed Core
3.5 Ed Core plus a few but no splatbooks
A variety of settings for 3.0/3.5 including Nyambe (my unplayed favorite)
Various editions of Traveler; Rolemaster; Harn; Dragonquest; Fantasy Trip; random other early SF RPGs...
Oh, I am
not going through my basement for this...
So, from Memory...
I still have my 1978 first printing ADAD monster manual, and my first printing (and bought hot off of the presses ) of the PHB and DMG, as well as Unearth Arcana and the worthless deities and demigods.
The basic boxed D&D set, with a now-rounded and edgeless blue 12 side, yellow 4 sider, red six sider, green eight sider, and white 20 sider...what did they make those from, hardened wax???? Talk about planned obsolescence!
oh, yes, 4th edition and fifth edition Tunnels and trolls...that's been gathering dust for decades...
old boxed traveller...from GDW
Melee and Wizards, from Steve jackson, as well as Ogre and G.E.V.
(Hmmm...What the heck is left in that box?)
I bought the 3.0 DMG and PHB to make sure I wasn't missing to much from when I started working on my own rules. Found a few neat things. Now, as has been said, I check online for this stuff.
Some I.C.E. Tolkien bastardizations with great research, great maps, and a set of rules about as fun as herpes...
Something Gygax did later in a fit of pique...Scarred lands, maybe?
Oh, the original Marvel rules.
Nothing else comes to mind. Let me thank Limetom for letting me realize that there is another box down in my cellar that can probably, except for a few things, be dump-foddder.
2ed Mutants and Masterminds (gee, I bet no one saw that coming)
DnD 3.5
D20 Modern* (as well as all suppliments)
Shadowrun 3.0*
Shadowrun 4.0*
BESM d20*
New World of Darkness*
--Vampire: The Requiem*
--Werewolf: The Forsaken*
--Mage: The Awakening*
--Promethean: The Created*
--Changeling: The Lost*
Old World of Darkness*
--Werewolf: The Apocalypse*
--Wraith: The Haunting**
--Demon: The [Fallen?]**
--Hunter: The Reckoning**
--Redundancy: The Repeating***
World of Darkness d20 (AKA: Monte Cooke can't write anymore)
Arcane Unearthed/Evolved* (Both old and new)
True 20 (once it arrives.)
Scion*
Exalted*
Sad thing is, I'm 90% sure I'm forgetting some.
*At home, instead of at my college dorm, or left at one of my friend's houses, so would take time to recover.
**PDF
***Not actually a game.
Oh, and I do feel that the different sub books of WoD, since they are pretty much systems in and of themselves, are necessary.
EDIT: Added Exalted
EDIT2: Added D20 Modern
I own...
Exalted 2nd Ed.
Have only played this a few times. I like the setting and the list of magical abilities and effects, but the combat takes too long and my players turned to the rulebook more often than in D&D.
Qin Warring States.
A great system and setting for Wu Xia roleplaying (eg. Crouching Tiger or Hero), but the bell curve for action tests is a bit too broad and combat movement is dependent on one's degree of skill with a given weapon (and yes, that's a big deal).
World of Darkness 2nd Ed.
I like the dice pool mechanics, but the setting seems to try just a little to hard with its whole "woooh, it's a scary, lonely world and you're all alone," schtick.
Vampire the Requiem.
A "core rulebook" for World of Darkness. Lots of atmosphere and flavour, but the same gripe applies as above.
GURPS (Characters, Campaigns, and Powers).
Very specific rules with a lot of customisation. A bit too comprehensive for me, but my players seem to enjoy it.
Nobilis.
My favourite setting ever. Phenomenal art and strikingly poetic writing, with a million-and-one adventure ideas written into the narrative of the book. When I just want a little light reading, this is the first book I turn to.
Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 2nd Ed.
An interesting careers system, which gives a great deal of flavour and direction in character creation but is somewhat ambguously detailed and a little to reminiscent of d20 character classes.
Unknown Armies 2nd Ed.
Hilarious and subtly disturbing. Crazy-assed new age horror roleplaying filled with pop references and truly modern magic (heck, one of the magickal traditions is Videomancy!).
Plus a helluva lot of RPG pdfs...
FUDGE.
A fun, loose system with very modular rules and individually specialised skills.
Amber Roleplay.
Great bidding system for abilities. Diceless. Awesome.
Changeling the Lost.
More World of Darkness fun.
Mage the Awakening.
And more.
Werewolf the Forsaken.
And yet more.
A bunch of GURPS supplements.
A bunch of WFRP supplements
A bunch of d20 supplements
I am looking forward to...
Dark Heresy (Warhammer 40K Roleplay).
As far as I'm concerned, this pretty much speaks for itself.
Amber Roleplay (New Edition).
Same here.
EDIT:
It just occurred to me that all of the RPGs I own in book form (except GURPS) are exclusively d10 systems, and I don't play GURPS anymore. Yeah, I have a d10 fetish.
I have 3.o D&D, an old 2nd edition starter kit, and Rifts.
