Yes, that's right, yours truely is going to be published!
Thursday night, as a late birthday present from my mom, I received the book Reinventing Comics, by Scott McCloud, in which he gave a foolproof (if a bit wiseass) secret for breaking into the comic industry, by giving a method to self-publish your own six-page comic.
Inspired, I started to write up a script, and got creative. So far, I've got half the script written up, and I've already started on the actual comic itself. Once I get it published, I intend to sell copies for about 50 cents each, and distribute them locally (comic shops, a couple local bookstores, the local library, friends, etc.). I'll officially be in the Comic Industry!
As it turns out, I can't self publish in the manner I intended until I have a working scanner. The downside, obviously, is that I'm not getting published quite as soon as I thought I would be, but the upside is that this gives me time to work on anything that needs to be worked on. Fortunately, there's not very much that needs to be worked on, but there's still a lot that could use more work....
