Title: Good is Food: A PbP game and NASL
Post by: the_taken on February 22, 2008, 08:05:18 PM
This is an open invite to anyone who would like to play a PbP game without any rules other than a railroaded plot, power monitoring and fun. This includes permission to swear, control evil undead, laugh maniacally, kick puppies and generally perform amoral behavior in the name of saving X-mas from the evil Zombie-Robot-Hitler.

I don't think the other cabbages would appreciate such a filthy game occurring here, so I've found another board that's willing to have it.

So I'm guessing you Real Adventures advertising didn't go as well as planned?

Couple of days and no hits? I'm still at a loss as to why. I'm letting people play almost anything! What's not to like? What's not tempting?

My RL gaming group loves the random characters we all create; the freedom of having a Cleric of Hedonism and a Vampire Cannibal in the same party. It's just that they're hard to get together consistently. Like once a month is unfeasible.

Your real life group are already friends. They know each other. The internet allows for anonymity. The restraints one has when dealing with people face to face usually goes out the door. So dealing with another that is interested in such a game is risky, because they may go over the line and have their character say or do something that gets under your skin, or you may accidently say something offensive to another. The game breaks into a bunch of arguements or one upsmanship and is no longer fun. That is one of the reasons the members wanted the cloak of goodiness to remain in place when the transition between LeapingShark and the three new GM's. Things remain friendly and games last longer.

So what you're saying is that if I let anybody do anything, they're not friends and they don't play games together?

Great. Now what?

What I'm saying is the risk is too high for most people. There are people out there that will play such games, but you may have a hard time finding them.

I'm willing to play.  I think that the free-roamingness negatives such as arguing and what-not can be taken care of over pm's.  Besides, it's the internet, what's to be offended about?  You're still taking offers, right?

I can claim one and a half offers in total. Including yours.

I'd post a notice of closure if the game was closed, but then the second would start up.

I noticed the only post on that was yours.  I can't even post considering I don't have an account (not that it's hard to get one, I'm just making excuses).  I think it's the christmas thing that turned people off rather than the "you can do anything, even make unneccessary comments" thing.

I figured X-mas would attract people. I like Santa Clause, his elves, and toys I probably did nothing to deserve, don't other people?

Or are they fixated on the agonizing elements of the X-mas season, like shopping for hours, cooking for days, trekking to unmapped places in the wilderness to spend time with relatives you can't stand, and that's what setting them off.
