Hi to everyone out there.
I'd just like to introduce myself quickly so that I can get back to working on my setting (which I've just started).
You can call me by Kedami or Thiin, it's up to you. The first is a general name I use gaming and the second is the newest name I'm going to be using.
Not really sure what to put in a thread like this, to be honest.
I will be posting details of my campaign setting for Dungeons & Dragons soon enough, so I'll wait until then to ask for help.
I look forward to meeting people as interested in creating a good setting as I am (and I'm guessing there are people more interested than I am out there, too).
I do hope that I'm not posting this on the wrong board...
Welcome aboard, Thiin!
What kind of setting is it you're working on? Or is it too early to tell?
Either way I look forward to reading it once you have something to post.
Welcome to the guild, Thiin!
You'll find most of the guild members are familiar with D&D, even if not all of us still play.

Well, nobody here shoots you for that, but we do have the rogue's gallery (http://www.thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?4), a thread for introducing yourself and stating your gaming likes.
No.
We shoot you for other things. Posting things in the wrong board happens.
Like overuse of the term "Gritty".

Why shoot when you can keelhaul?
Welcome Thiin.
Can't wait to see what you've created...

*Loads shotgun.*
You should check that, if there's grit in the breech, it could misfire and injure you.
All the grits in the world won't stop this... :poke:

I've been playing a lot of Doom lately, too....
Pretty, City, Grandma's Titty,
I'm verry sorry that it rhymes with...
:explode: BOOM!!! :explode:
Thiin do not judge us by the the few insane posters hijacking your thread. CBGers are not all bad...
And to the rest of you, SHAME!
Please excuse my anti-gritty out bursts. Poseidon would rather we did not scare you off.

No, but we
are all insane, here. I'm insane, you're insane....
I'm insane
You're insane
He's insane
Evybody's all insane
WOOOOO!
x.
So Thiin, tell us about your setting.
Wow, I don't get online for a couple of days and this happens? This board should be fun.
Planes and Gods
Anyway, for my setting I've decided to design my own set of Gods and my own Planar system. I've already done some work on this, but it is still in the early stages. I can't tell you much beyond that until I write the flavour text really.
My setting has a set of main Gods, but there are other, just in case the players (or my NPCs) want to worship something different. I made a specific race for the Gods and another for their children. These are the Scraethan (Scray-thann) and Dagnar respectively.
When I write up the flavour text I'll post everything. I believe that I accommodated all the Planar travel spells, but I'll have to check.
Material Plane
I don't plan on finishing my Material Plane any time soon as I'm only going to expand outwards as the players use the world.
I've played three sessions with one group, so I already have a small area built that includes a Druid village, a mostly Human village nearby. The Human village doesn't have a name yet and I'm feeling lucky because my players haven't asked for the name yet. Both are along the same river. To the north of both is a small ruined mansion that I haven't written any backstory yet, but until last session was occupied by some werewolves (the sample ones from the Monster Manual, the party are level 3). During their first and second sessions, the players fought Kobolds in a cave in the mountain to the south (they gained a level from this) and then the Kobolds attacked the village for revenge (not very well planned on my part because that made two level-ups in two sessions). It is a temperate area, mostly plains and hills.
I have a another group that I should be playing with soon. They plan on playing all-Psionics, so that lets me get that aspect of my world ready. I plan to design two small temples, one either side of a mountain and part of their Rites of Passage, or whatever, is to pass through a tunnel filled with Psionic enemies and reach the other temple. I'm making this place to the far west of the other playing area, across an ocean. This is also a temperate area.
I'd like to note that I plan to use most of the monsters in the first three Monster Manuals except the stuff that came from Eberron (Changelings, Warforged and Shifters. There may be others).
From are some of my house rules that should effect the setting in some way. I'll add up more detailed descriptions of the races in a different post when I'm sure of what I want for them.
Classes and Races
I can see not many being fond of my choices in this section.
I outright banned the Half-races because I'm working on templates (still too early to tell whether they will be good or not).
As for classes, there have been a few changes. Clerics have now been "nerfed" to quite a degree, but I never liked the idea of a holyman wearing full-plate unless it was a Paladin. I've reduced their HD to a d4 and removed their armour proficiencies. I've also removed their Turn Undead feature (this goes for the Paladin too), but they get a free Turning feat. I created these after they were suggested on a thread about my Undead house rules.
There are also a few miscellaneous changes to the other classes, but nothing that major.
Feats
I'd be happy to post my Turning feats mentioned above. I also added a feat that lets you gain 2 more Spell Points (since that is the system we use) and lets you use Brew Potion to create Mana Potions, or whatever you want to call them.
I'll add more as it is created.
First off, welcome! Second, if this type of insanity suits you, you will be at home in the tavern. Third, some interesting ideas in your setting. Me likey. And SG, the_taken, I agree with Poseidon. Please don't scare the newcomers away. They can do that for themselves by checking out the tavern.

What, I don't get a mention? Not even for encouraging such behavior? I figure, if they've gotten this far, it's safe to assume that they've already seen the Tavern, and weren't scared by the insanity. Which, naturally, means that they're fair game :D
I have posted my setting here (http://www.thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?44811).
I'm still adding the detail, but it should be finished soon enough.
Another Guinan! Woot!
/me extends as warm a welcome as one who just joined a little less than 24 hours prior possibly could.
I too hope to be posting my setting soon, but for some reason, I can't make anything simple... I'm like... an English lead guitarist from the 60s. I'll get it all done eventually... :)
Looking forward to seeing more posts! :)
Getting it done eventually is fine! Hell, that's practically my motto! Just as Poseidon. :P (I swear I'll update it!)
Glad you enjoy our particular brand of insanity, Thiin. We happen to be quite...odd.
By the way, I can't believe no one here has given you your complimentry cabbage! (This cabbage is a Cabbage of inside joke +5)
Yeah... I read about the cabbage in the FAQ.
