I've just spent an hour searching around Wikipedia for a simple list of animal classification, as I need one for my setting. I had found one before, but now I've forgotten how to navigate there (and I also forgot to bookmark it). I found one HERE (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_families), but it's really clunky and clumsy.
So, can any of the CBGers assist?
This might be up your alley. I found some in Latin that didn't make any sense. I couldn't even find homo sapiens on it.

Tip! Search on Google images for "Taxonomy tree" and choose to only display very big images. Or if you are lazy, click here: http://images.google.dk/images?q=Taxonomy+tree&um=1&hl=da&sa=N&imgsz=huge
Thanks Neubert, my google-fu is lacking.
I'm not so much interested in a tree image so much as an outline structure. That first image you linked to is nice and simple, though, so if no one posts a good outline I'll tear this one apart myself. Thanks!
No problem. :)
There were some other images on Google, which is why I gave you the link. You know exactly what you are looking for :)
If you're thinking about making one of those suckers...don't. They suck massive. Just a suggestion.
I don't want to go far down, just families. And really, I only care about the mammals.
The research I've been looking into believes that most cats and dogs will go extinct soon, as well as ocean mammals. The land, the believe, will be taken over by rodents, mustelids, and other small mammals, which will fill all sorts of niches (they have these carnivorous rodent descendants which are quite cool).
But much of this is thoughts on what life on Earth would develop into without our influence, if we were to be gone. People complicate things, what with urbanization, domestication, destruction of habitats, and even genetic engineering.
