Makes me sad...
dude, that's a lot of effort for an april fools joke.
makes me wonder, maybe it's a joke-within-a-joke? maybe they're really doing a Zelda movie...
nah, wishful thinking...
*cry*
tho it has to be said, that link really looks strange...
OMG!!!!
Seriously I would have been convinced!
I want to see this movie... Darn it, it looked GOOD!
BAH! BAH! DARN IGN!!!!!
[/mindless ranting]
Well it would have been a god-awful movie. Truly, blasphemously bad.
That particular movie, with those actors and those FX would have been bad, but the concept of a live action Zelda movie is something I personally wouldn't be able to NOT see.

Granted the Graphics were bad but the actors seemed fine but, in all seriousness, I would rather have a Zelda movie that uses relatively unknown actors to a Zelda Movie that uses big Hollywood names. The more money they spend of big names, the less money is spent on the script.
Yeah, I wasn't talking about the fact that they're unknown, just that they seem to have very little talent in "acting." :)
Oh, I dunno. A Zelda move would likely suck, much as I would love to see it - mainly because I have yet to see a video game movie that didn't suck. I'd still shell out the $8 to see it, but I have a feeling there would be a bunch of very angry fans after opening day.

Well they were hardly given a fair shot but... yeah I agree :)
@ Xathan: i dunno, Super Mario Bros. was pretty good... if you wanted a realistic Mario world... x.

Touché?

But there have been many great fantasy movies over the years, which dwarf the number of good Video Game movies.
I dig the runes a lot more than anything else in the trailer. :yumm:
Yeah, I really like the way they came together to spell out the three virtues. On my second take through the flick... Ganon looks damn silly ;)
He looks like he got into a bunch of expired hair dye and tanning lotion.
Ganon would have been my biggest gripe if I paid to see the movie. His costume was just too goofy if the movie was supposed to be that serious.
Yeah, in general, I didn't think the effects were that bad, but Ganon looked (and sounded) horrible.
I thought Ganon sounded okay.
I know I had a head start, since I didn't know about this until it appeared here, and I don't want to be mean, but based upon the lousy look of the live-action (as opposed to the effects) sequences I don't see how this could be taken quite as serious as it seems to have been. Even some of the worst movies I've ever seen have better actors, makeup, and cinematography than that thing.

It was supposedly a video game movie. That automatically means it's not going to be very good. :P

No, seriously, the Mario Bros. movie looked better than this'¦'¦wait, bad example, I actually
liked that movie. :D

But...I have seen fantasy movies I like, and I had prior to LOTR...

had[/i] to have been a concession to the game's fans, detracted from the exploration of the relationships and 47's moral crisis. I for one thought the movie's plot and characters were simplified for the mass market; the game surpasses is immensely.
Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear Solid) spins better tales than any action film I've ever seen. Goichi Suda (No More Heroes) and Yasumi Matsuno (Vagrant Stories) are fantastic as well. Darnit, the game industry is filled with awesome creative talent. Maybe games just aren't meant to be adapted (as some folks argue) but I tend to disagree. I think the people who oversee the transition simply underestimate and misconstrue the merits of the medium.
But back to Zelda...Well, I don't think live-action is a good idea. I've always thought the game's resonance was in its mythology, a kind of far-away sense that would be best served by animation. Hylians aren't people with pointy ears, they're
Hylians, with a pixyish temperament and a fairytale air. Live-action would ground it too much in our reality. (I figure folks are imagining a movie based - at least artistically - on the Ocarina of Time or the twilight Princess. While it is the logical choice, remember that most of the series is more childlike or caricatured in its presentation, and I think that touch of innocence is essential)
If I could dictate the creation of a Zelda movie, they'd speak in a made up language with sub-titles (optional on the DVD) and the plot would be comprehensible expressly through the visuals. You'd feel
good watching it, and you'd bring the children. It'd be Kid Link, because he looks that much ballsier when he doesn't even fill his tunic, and Ganon would be an oversised, overaggrandised megalomaniac.
I hope to God they never make a Zelda movie, because it'd be nothing like that.

Bollywood! ;)

I would pay solid cash to see your version on the big screen, FYI.
Am I the only one who thought the trailer looked decent?
I really want to know what the heck the priceless Triforce was doing, just chilling in the marketplace where any schmuck could walk up and touch it.

It didn't look like it was in the market, to mr. I thought that was a cutscene...
For that matter, what was it doing in Hyrule at all? But then, since we can all agree its creators were taking the piss, that's all pretty much moot.
