Hey, do any of you know a good name for a creature/race associated with lightning/electricity and/or storms? I'm thinking mythical creatures here, demons and gods and such... And do you know a good way to research stuff like this easily?
Well, if you want Gods... Thor/Donner, Zeus/Jupiter... even Odin/Woden was originally associated with storms. Those are all probably far to recognisable to be used as a race's name without people making certain assumptions based on the nomenclature, but I guess you could mix them up a bit or something... Thoden, Oditer, Zudin, Wor, etc... just a thought...
Perhaps this (http://www.wordinfo.info/words/index/info/view_unit/224) and this (http://www.wordinfo.info/words/index/info/view_unit/3280) is a starting point. Greek and latin usually serves quite well for such purposes.
Tmestl. Or Stormus, but that's one of my most-hated cymricisations, frankly.
Go welsh!
The maruts were Hindu storm spirits. They are the children of the storm god, Rudra, and serve the thunder god Indra.
Australian mythology has flying lightning serpents.
Native American mythology has the thunderbird.
Tesla may be a decent word to use to relate to lightning
Hmm, i think i'll use either ceraun, keraun, which are also from Ra-Tiels page (nice page btw), though i'm also tempted to use Marut (it's not D&D so the name isn't taken as of yet).
Which one do you think is the better?
for a creature or race? Marut wins for me.

Monster Manual[/i].
i was just pointing out that my campaign isn't D&D, so i don't have to care that it's one of the Inevitables. But thanks for the heads-up : )
