Best Avatar - Kapn Xeviat

The Best Crunch - Kapn Xeviat

Best Wiki User - Sparkletwist

Cebegian of the Year - LordVreeg (Though it was a tough decision)

I'll put these up for now, I haven't decided on the other ones yet. In some cases I'm debating between multiple users/settings... :(

Nope, you did nothing - we have someone on this site that is constantly changing his name, and I thought he had recently changed his name to "Lath," but that's apparently not correct! :)

It's Latro!

Post by: LordVreeg on June 02, 2008, 05:14:03 PM
I'm just posting on this thread for the hell of it.
S&M is definitely getting my 'rookie' vote.
LC is getting my most pragmatic.  I get some of my best feedback from him, and the time he spent of some of those reviews is humbling.  More than anyone else, I await LC reviews with hushed tones and rapt attention.
S&M gets best Fluffer (i even like the way that sounds.  ('You oughta be in pictures...')

Jharviss is the best, most Iconic Avatar, for me.  It is more arresting and says more than most.

s&m GETS cebegia OF THE YEAR, IF i CANNOT NOMINATE THE sEAGOD.

My 'Best setting' vote is difficult.  I was looking through my posts (and realizing I talk too much again).  I've posted a lot on the Jade Stage (including a still-unanswered post from months ago), New Edom (where the Hell is Tybalt, anyways????), Panisadore, Resonance, Phaedoras, Tasothilos, Tephra, and more.

JadeStage is out, says LC.  Tybalt has gone missing, damnit. mmm.
This is hard.  I nominate Avayevnon: A World Reborn.  IO like the styles and religions and the thoughtfulness of putting it together as a whole, not just the pieces.

___
For most missed, it would be Tybalt for me.  He and I traded reviews and comments for a sold 4-5 months, always with assistance for the other one.

Can I nominate myself for worst tavern abuser??????
_______________________________________________________________________________________
I accept nominations for Pragmatic poster, Fluffernutter, Cebegian, and Setting. And gratefully.
I decline nomination for rookie, as I think there have been newer members who have made more much better splashdowns than my particular cannonball-esque dive into the CBG pool.
And I was a cantankerous bastard a few times from the very beginning.  Not in a good way.  Not to get into particulars, but I do not deserve consideration for that award.
Title: 2008 Guildies Nominations
Post by: Lmns Crn on June 02, 2008, 11:14:02 PM
I have been waiting for this thread like you would not believe. Some of these are really tough choices, and it makes me sad (though it is fair and makes sense!) that I can only nominate one person per category.

I'm not listing the various runners-up, or expounding upon my tough choices, but I guess if people are curious (and we can discuss this without hurt feelings) I will divulge information about the very close seconds and thirds. I have also gone to great lengths to nominate different people for all categories, even though there are some who might easily qualify for three, four, or more. Take that as you will.

[ic=the Crayon's Writing on the Wall]Friendliest Poster - We need to quit procrastinating and officially name sdragon1984 as our diplomat, envoy, and greeter.

Rookie of the Year - I am nominating Neubert, for two reasons. First, all of my other runners-up for this category are fairly active and visible, and I'm sure they will get nominations from others. Second, it's a clever ploy to get Neubert to post more. I want to know more about Wetra.

Old Folks - So many good friends all around, but the person I'm most glad to see back at the site is Xathan. Go get the best robe and the best sandals, and slaughter the fatted calf, because the prodigal CBGer has returned.

Best Username - Again, a tough choice, since there are a lot of evocative names in this community. Because it fits his personality so well, I'm going to have to nominate Poseidon, a name that embodies the caprice, power, and solemn dignity that its bearer has led us to expect of him.

Best Avatar - I have no idea what it's from or what it means, but I could watch Beejazz's avatar all day long. It's absolutely mesmerizing.

Pragmatic Poster - There are a lot of ways to interpret this category. My understanding of it leads me to make the obvious choice of Limetom, who should post much more often, because I always feel smarter after reading his insights.

The Best Crunch - I have admitted many times when reviewing the work of others that I tend not to read crunch. To me, it is of secondary importance to the world and story details it supports, and I skip over it in favor of material I consider more vital. I know that we have some veritable crunchmasters in our midst, and by reputation I even know who some of them are. But knowledge by reputation only is not enough for me to base a nomination upon, so although I am leaving my nomination for this category empty, know that my decision here is not a comment on any perceived lack of talent or deservedness in the community.

The Best Fluff - I don't understand all of it all of the time, but I have to give credit to Golem/Wensleydale for the incredible depth of detail and thoughtfulness that is present in every damn thing he writes. I wish I could be half so thorough and precise. In spite of the dizzyingly high quality of Golem's work, this was definitely one of the hardest choices to make, because the competition is absolutely fierce from all corners of the site.

Best Wiki User - A tough call, because there are many people who have done vital and fantastic work on the behind-the-scenes scaffolding of the wiki. Because I'm confident that they will get the recognition they deserve, I feel obligated to single out the wiki user who I believe has best demonstrated how to use the wiki format to display a setting to maximum effect. This setting's pages are well-designed, logically interconnected with links and categories, easy to navigate around, and visually stunning. I can be referring to none other than Ishmayl, for his work on the Shadowfell wiki.

Cebegian of the Year - I don't follow CeBeGia, so I don't feel qualified to make a nomination for this category. Sorry!

Best Setting - This is probably the most difficult choice for me. There's a ton of quality work on this site, and it's all different and fascinating, so making a choice here is absolutely agonizing. Ultimately, my choice in this category has been heavily influenced by the "completeness level" of the setting, and the perceived level of activity involving the setting taking place (which is to say, one close runner-up was decided against due to long inactivity about that setting.) Though the race was very, very close between three settings, I am pleased to nominate Celtricia, by LordVreeg.[/ic]

Stand up and be recognized, you outstanding members of our community.

Luminous Crayon,
I am extremely grateful for your nomination - I have had a ton of fun with the wiki.  However, I will be declining all nominations this year just as I did last year.  I feel that since I am the one accepting and counting votes, it would not be right to count votes for myself.  Thanks anyway, and you may nominate someone else if you choose. :)

Holy  :censored: ! I've been nominated for something?! Holy  :censored: !

Since I don't consider myself a big enough member to decline any nominations, I most certainly accept! Thanks LC!

By the way, I'd nominate Jade Stage as the best setting, but you won that last year, and I don't think it would be fair to the other users and their settings. I hope you understand that it's nothing personal!

Edit- Also, since there's no point in nominating somebody that's already been nominated, can I change my Rookie nomination? I wasn't aware that Crippled Crow is still a rookie, and I see he (she?) isn't nominated yet.

Friendliest Poster - There are so many friendly people around here! :D  It's difficult to single anyone out, especially since the current nominations are good, and Ishmayl would decline.

Rookie of the Year - Being a "rookie" myself, I don't really feel qualified to say anything about the RotY.

Old Folks - Along the same lines, I can't really say anything here-- I just haven't been around here long enough.

Best Username - Seraphine Harmonium

Best Avatar - slapzilla. It makes me giggle every time I see it!

Pragmatic Poster - LordVreeg, despite also being a shameless thread necromancer.

Best Crunch - I'm not really very "crunchy" so I don't think I can say anything worthwhile.

Best Fluff - Phoenix, for Kishar and Eclipse. I have very much enjoyed reading over these settings, especially Eclipse.

Best Wiki User - Well, I guess I'll be a bit controversial. I see what LC said about Jade Stage stuff, but this category didn't exist last year. I've enjoyed reading over the Jade Stage material on the wiki, and found it very well presented. So, I nominate Luminous Crayon. Decline if you like, but I thought I'd at least officially put it out there. :)

Cebegian of the Year - I don't follow CeBeGia so again I recuse myself.

Best Setting - Oh, they're all so good. It's a tough, tough call. I may have to think about this one more.

Ok and:

Like last year, I'm going to accept all* nominations. Even if I don't understand what would drive some of you to make the choices you do (maybe it's your cat walking on the keyboard, stepping on L and then C?), I feel like it'd be throwing a wrench in the works if I don't let you pick who you want to pick.

*Unlike last year, there's a caveat. If anybody tries to nominate the Jade Stage for Best Setting, I will decline it, so don't waste your vote that way. I won that last year, so let's not get repetitive and boring-- nominate somebody else! There are countless worthy choices.

Quote from: SparkletwistBest Wiki User - Well, I guess I'll be a bit controversial. I see what LC said about Jade Stage stuff, but this category didn't exist last year. I certainly wouldn't vote for me, I don't think it's my place to meddle in your nomination process by declining and suggesting you pick somebody else, either.

If you really want to ease my mind, pick one of our many outstanding worlds around the site to nominate for Best Setting. :yumm:

Quote from: LordVreegLC is getting my most pragmatic. I get some of my best feedback from him, and the time he spent of some of those reviews is humbling. More than anyone else, I await LC reviews with hushed tones and rapt attention.
I guess I'm mostly surprised that anybody feels quite so strongly about what I have to say. This post also reminds me... I have a list of things to get busy reading and reviewing, and I ought to get started.

Now that I'm all flattered and flabbergasted, I suppose I should get to work about living up to all the kind words that have been aimed in my direction.

Actually, I think LC sets a good general guideline that no member should be able to win the same award twice (at least not for the same setting in the case of Best Setting). Spread the love. So yeah, I'll accept anything I'm nominated for except Friendliest. But then I also think Ishy should reconsider not accepting nominations; it's not like you're appointing victors, just tallying votes (course I suppose you'd reject an SF nomination for other reasons now).

Admittedly, I haven't been around (at least off the wiki) as much this year, especially lately, but I'll try to give some nominations. And I'm late, but I won't feel bad about nominating people already nominated.

Friendlist - Luminous Crayon

Rookie - Snargash Moonclaw

Old Folks - WickedTroll

Best Username - Pfenix Sword. Yeah, he never posted and may never come back to accept the nomination. But how can I pass that up?

Best Avatar - Xathan

Pragmatic Poster - LC

Best Crunch - abstain. Almost always gloss over it.

Best Fluff - Lord Vreeg. I've only begun to wade through all of that detail.

Best Wiki User - Sparkletwist. Hands down.

CeBeGeian - abstain. Never looked at it.

Best Setting - Wake. Only read a little, but it's definitely a divergence from the norm.

and a new category:
Most Missed: Raelifin. Anybody heard from him lately? Though it was a hard choice.

All the other folks that I would nominate have already been mentioned, and I'll put my votes where I please.

But really, i'm deeply honored to be nominated for this award! So even though i probably don't stand a chance against the other CBG-rookies i can see have been nominated, i'll gladly accept the nomination. Thank you :)

You're in a tough crowd of Rookies, but on the other side, you're a strong contender!  Don't throw away the hat, you've got just as much clout as the others here. ;)

And you have a rocking avatar. I never noticed that before.

Edit: And now SM has a hilarious new avatar, too. When did this happen?

Make sure if you see someone who hasn't accepted their nomination yet, you send them a PM or something to let them know, in case they have missed it.

Well, there is a good reason you haven't noticed, since i just recently added one. I felt like i had been avatar-less for too long a time.

I would like to decline my nomination, basically because I do not feel I have been very active for a while now (which will change after the 18th of this month, cursed exams!) and winning would not be fair (if that is even a possibility :P).

Although I have foiled LC's (clever, I must admit) ploy to get me to become more active here and with Wetra, I would like to assure that I will soon wage war on my little part of the wiki and expand it's borders into unknown territory.

Best Username - psychoticbarber - Is this not the best name ever?
Best Avatar - Phoenix
Old Folks - Polycarp!
Pragmatic Poster - Raelifin
Cebegian of the Year - Poseidon
Best Setting - This was a tough one. There were an awful lot of settings I wanted to nominate because they were very well-detailed and ready-to-run, and some as well that were just screaming with potential that really need more attention. In the end, I'm picking Shadowfell by Ishmayl, because we love it and people need to know where the 4e idea came from. :)

When I asked for this category to be made I put in that I could not be nominated for it (mostly because I wouldn't accept it), Ishmayl left that out of the description. So I must respectfully decline this nomination.

Thank you any way.

I came here ready to put in my nods, and everyone I would have nominated already has been (whether they accepted or denied). But I do want to nominate someone else for best krunch, so I'll go looking. ...

I nominate Nomadic for best crunch. Out of all the new members, I've seen them make an extra effort to create new material. I also like the direction of their creations.
Title: 2008 Guildies Nominations
Post by: Nomadic on June 25, 2008, 06:04:52 AM
Thanks, I am quite surprised and extremely honored to be nominated by someone with such an excellent handle on crunch.

I humbly accept (how could I decline such an honor).

Also while at the beginning of the month I felt separate I have come alot closer. I have been more active and seen what a wonderful group the CBG is. I feel now that I should participate. Everyone here has been wonderful. I feel though that there are certain people who stand in a special place in the respective categories.

Pragmatic Poster - Lord Vreeg. Then again, I have never known a wine drinker who wasn't also a pragmatic conversationalist. ;)

The Best Crunch - This goes to the Kapn (Xeviat). His help and ideas in regards to my campaign have been a wonderful boon to me.

The Best Fluff - Snargash Moonclaw. The work on your campaign has me fascinated... also glad to see you're out of the bronze age. Also his help with my campaign has been massive in helping me order my ideas to allow for a beautiful picture to be painted of what it really is as a world.

Best Setting - Having played a few sessions of Celtricia, this one takes the cake. Several decades give or take have done this campaign well. Vreeg should be proud of his masterful work.

There are many others that I think deserve recognition. My not voting on more categories comes not from lack for the most part but more often on having too many to choose from. These have all already been nominated, but I just felt they each deserved a little extra recognition from me. If it wasn't for each of them I wouldn't be doing near as well on my setting nor having near as much fun on the sight.

Thank you CBG, best community this side of the cabbage patch (and then some).

I wish I'd checked in here recently.  I think I might have liked to nominate some folks.  I have a tendency to forget about a particualr messageboard and then go back and say, oh yeah, I like these folks.
