If you don't, then let me remind you. Awhile back, I asked in the tavern to be dissuaded from an impulsive idea of mine. The idea was to start screenprinting. Needless to say, the Tavern isn't the place to be dissuaded from impulsiveness.
So, here's what I plan to do:
I plan on buying these sneakers (http://www.nosweatapparel.com/miva/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=5005&Category_Code=NSS&Product_Count=3), and printing an original piece of line art, vaguely inspired by the stuff you'd find skaters wearing, in white, on the side. The work I plan on printing is attached.
Tell me, what does everybody think? Too cliché? Cool? Worth doing? Waste of time? Is it a hopelessly messy image? Let me know!

Edit- Err, please ignore that line on the left; That's not going to be in the finished product.
My first instinct is "hopelessly messy," but then again, I don't know what you're going for, or how the flat image will look on a pair of shoes.
I'm going for that skater-punk-doodles-in-high-school-notebook look. It seems to be popular with Wal-Mart clothes and Myspace layouts. A friend of mine pointed out that the art is a bit emo, so I'm trying to think of some other stuff to add to it, and hopefully counteract the current abundance of hearts.
By the way, yes, I do realize that it's pretty busy right now, but that's what I want. If anything, it's not quite busy enough yet.
I have no idea what to make of this, my dear friend. I am responding as always, and trying to wrap my head around this drawing, but I don't relate to it. Maybe of you clean up the bones and skull a bit...
I might suggest having the stuff on the left side closer together, with less empty space. Are the shapes on the right side buildings?
Yes, those are indeed buildings. That's always been a weakness of mine, but hopefully the fact that it's a weakness might work for this image in particular.
A thought on both the skull & crossbones and the idea of moving the leftward stuff right: if you look closely, the skull & crossbones is distorted. This is intentional, as I used one vanishing point for the skull, and another for the crossbones. Unfortunately, the image is still very flat, so it just comes out as subtly distorted. Maybe, in moving stuff right, I might be able to get the left heart to slightly overlap the skull & crossbones in a manner that might emphasis the different planes? Also, maybe I could toss in some stylized version of an anarchy symbol somewhere on the right?
Here's the updated design.
I'm thinking of just getting some cheap canvas Airwalks (http://www.payless.com/Catalog/ProductDetail.aspx?&TLC=Mens&Size=9Regular&SLC=MensAthletics&BLC=MensPromoCanvas&ItemCode=54658&DescriptiveColor=Black/White&Width=Regular&Type=Adult&VTLC=&LotNumber=049375&cm_id=sizedropmenu) instead of the shoes I posted, at least for now. I do like the ones I posted earlier, but I'm not yet sure if they're worth the price difference.

I think the two issues that work to clutter this up are firstly the 3d objects, and secondly the random lines. The 3d stuff doesn't fit well with the style and the lines come across as messy.
just my 2 cents...
I'm not really sure how to take that, for two reasons. One, I'm not sure if your use of "cluttered" could translate to "busy", and "busy" is a part of my intent. The other reason I'm not sure how to take that is because just about everything, save for the top lightning bolt and the anarchy symbol, is supposed to exists in a sort of 3d environment. The skull & crossbones is the most obvious case of a 2d item in a 3d environment, but the second heart, if you notice, is also skewed a bit.
Depending on the general response to the first point, I might remove the lightning bolts and vines, and depending on the response to the second point, I might try "flattening" the 3d objects (while still trying to keep them in a 3d environment, of course).
To be honest it requires a certain style. I unfortunately am not the best teacher for this. I can however give you an example based on what you have put up to show you how you can go about this without getting that cluttered effect.

hope it helps you a bit.
That's actually very close to what I'm trying for. I need it monochrome, though, since I'm only going to start screenprinting one color at a time. Also, the whole breaking-the-border thing won't have any effect once printed, either.
Other then that, though, the only thing that's really lost from my version is the right-hand corner vanishing points. I actually kinda liked the tilted sense of perspective.
Edit- hopefully, after my next quarter in school, I'll have a better sense of perspective. Maybe that might improve what I'm doing.
Okay, so it turns out these (http://www.payless.com/Catalog/ProductDetail.aspx?&TLC=Mens&SLC=MensStory&BLC=MensPromoCanvas&Width=Regular&ItemCode=54658&LotNumber=049375&Type=Adult&Popularity=69&DescriptiveColor=Black/White) are what I got. I still think I want the punk aesthetic, but I had a fairly cool idea. What if the design was circular, to evoke the idea of the Chuck Taylor All Star logo? I'm not sure how I want to use this, since all I can think of is either too cliche (anarchy sign, peace sign, etc), or too specific (other logos, etc.). Does anybody have any ideas?
Draw a turtle from a birds eye view with cbg stamped in the shell. Then you could bill ishy for advertisement. :P
Well, my original "circle" idea was a parody of the Chuck Taylor logo, using V:tM designs. Instead of having:
Chuck Taylor
[star]
All Stars
I would have something like:
Clan [clan name]
[clan symbol]
Antedeluvian
or something along those lines. I decided it was a really cool idea, but ultimately fell into the "too specific" category. I mean, sure, I like the game, but not really enough to justify wearing it on a daily basis...
Heh I just had a funny idea involving a skull and crossbones symbol with a d20 replacing the skull.
And pencils as the "bones"?
Yea something like that.
