Title: Psionic-Narutoverse: Fan made campaign setting -mirror-
Post by: the_taken on May 15, 2006, 05:29:50 PM
I'm trying to get as much coverage of (soon to be everyone's favorite) Naruto D20 conversion. When the WotC switches over to it's new servers, I'll post a permanent link to the thread I started there here. 'Till then, I link you to boards1.wizards.com\showthread.php?p=9166343.

Discuss here or there. I'll check both.

So um, when is this gonna get posted over here? I am not a fan of Naruto, or almost any modern day cartoons, but even I liked the Naruto thread over at WotC. I'd like to see what kind of setting you have used to impliment the stuff on that thread.

I don't have much right now. The current TOD is what the campaign setting's flavor is like. I've essentialy narrowed it down to being a mercenary campaign, but an intelectual discussion would be apreciated.
It's just me doing all the stuff. Between school and other projects, It'll be slow.

From the thread on WoTC's forumns
Quote from: the_takenWhat motivates a player to play as a Naruto styled ninja? You might say it's similar to a regular D&D psionic character, but I see differently.
The reasons:
*The Narutoverse has a shortage of dungeon crawls. The Hidden Sound Village was more like a prison complex, so a few exist.*There are no monsters beyond the few giant demonic animals, summons, and artificial creations. Meaning you're usualy fighting humans. Moral dillemas insue.*The ninjas are usualy mercenaries, hired from a hidden village or (rarely) freelance contractors. Bodyguarding, man hunts, detective work, and
assasinations. More dillemas.
I think I miss-labled the Topic of Discussion (TOD from now on). It should probably be something like Campaign Setting Flavor.

I haven't seen this so called Wizards Narutoverse Thread but I do know of an alright setting for Naruto that hasn't been updated in a long time.
d20 no Jutsu (look it up in google).
It needs work and it is based a little more on the BESM 3.5 d20 system (which you can find for free on the Guardians of Order website).
anyway, submit a link ad i'll check it out, (unless you already did)...

I've already seen the site. And it's main site. I find that the system is half done, and unplaytested.
A total of 40pts at lvl20 to use on techniques? Bah! I'll stick to my Fist Zouken/Lucid Cenobite/Drunken Master Rock Lee using animal affinity, lion's charge and psycofeedback

They're messing around with something called speed ranks. A good concept, but poorly implimented.

If you read the BESM books, it's kinda cool.

EDIT: Sorry, book. Singular. Not plural.

In an atemp to revive this thread, I will post what I orriginaly posted on the Naruto d20 forumn. A specific place that would be added to the campaign world as any would do.
Quote from: HiddenReef2Clan and General Techniques of Ganshougakure

General Techniques
Most Hidden Reef shinobi are proficient with atleast some water element techniques.
Bunshin no Jutsu - Clone Technique
Mizu Bunshin no Jutsu â,¬' Water Clone Technique - Unlike most hidden villages, Ganshougakure requires that all of it's genins are proficient with the more difficult water clone technique than the standard illusionary clone technique.
Kage Bunshin no Jutsu - Shadow Clone Tequnique - Like most hidden villages, this technique is usualy taught to jounin level shinobi.
Meisai Gakure no Jutsu â,¬' Camouflage Concealment Technique
Henge no Jutsu â,¬' Transformation Technique

(Thick Fog) Kuroikiri Clan
Kirigakure no Jutsu â,¬' Mist Concealment Technique
Jibaku Mizu Bunshin â,¬' Self Destructing Water Clone

(Volcanic Ashes) Kazanbai Clan
Kazanbai are renown for their mastery in fire techniques. Expect even a shcool student to be more proficient than most chunin in katon jutsu.
Katon - Nenshou Kenkaku no Jutsu - Flaming Swordsman - available only to Kanzabai, the user ignites himself and his weapons, eminating heat and igniting any flamables he touches. A Kanzabai who knows this jutsu will usualy use inflamable equipment and keep his fire tags in a heat proof container.

(Endless Moon) Kagirinai Getsu Clan
Kagirinai Getsu have no special techniques of their own. They generaly perform better than others at general techiniques, mastering ones that require alot of self control quickly.
Special Techniques

Slightly different from general techniques, as only a select few gifted persons have the right stuff to learn these.

Taijutsu - Monkey Fist and Tail Style
Some Taijutsu specialists aprentice to one of the three masters and learn the secrets of this iron fist style. Officialy there can only be three masters to teach the techniques. In reality, most taijutsu styles of Ganshougakure are based upon the basic stances of Monkey Fist and Tail. Actual Monkey Fist and Tail practitioners are known to have an incredible sense of balance, standing and jumping atop bamboo poles like the smale aboreal monkeys that inhabbit many of the Ocean Country's islands.
Transformation Technique: Inner Monkey Form - Basicaly, the user of this technique sprouts a tail and gains opposable toes. Very vew actual taijutsu techniques require monkey form.

Taijutsu - Staff of the Storm
Other Taijutsu specialists learn from a staff master, gaining mastery in weilding a staff better than a swordsman can wield his blade. This combat style is very popular with the Kazanbai Clan, who take to weilding heavy full-metal staffs and igniting them. The rare high level students of this style can strike with such incredible speed and re-occurance that even a master of this style can be overwhelmed. Only the most focused can learn the higher level techniques.
