So anyway, as most of you probably know by now, I'm enrolled part time in art school. I'm currently in the second week of the second half of my second quarter. Being part time, I only have two classes a quarter, which means I'm in my fourth class now. The class I'm in now is Fundamentals of Design, and I just finished an assignment due Monday, on formal balance. After I finished it, I toyed around with it a bit more, then went back to what you see now. Personally, I think it reminds me of Cthulu.
So, what does everybody think? Cool? Lame? Insanity-inducing?

Pretty awesome, I keep seeing a face. It'd be a good symbol for something evil.
Which school?
I like this. Diabolic, in my eyes.
To me, it looks like it ought to be carved into a piece of wood, and has a certain "tribal" quality to it-- polynesian, perhaps.
I like it, but I'm not sure if its my eyes that are going bad or the whole thing keeps going in and out of focus.
Looks very Native American. I like it.
Joker, Vreeg, thanks! I'm going to Art Institute Online. Although I know I'm missing out on quite a bit by not going the traditional on-campus route, I decided for several reasons that going online was a better choice.
Steel General: That's just the Elder Gods playin' with ya. Such kidders, aren't they? :p
Nomadic, Sparkletwist: Tribal? Polynesian? Native American? I didn't expect that. That's an interesting take on it.
Can I use it for my Entropic Cabal of Nihil? They have three greater entropic outsiders as patrons...and that is a three heasded sigil...
Not gonna use it for anything commercial? Sure I guess. All I ask in return in return is that I get some sort of acknowledgment, and the insurance that, in the chance we ever bump into each other in person, I can have a glass of some sweet wine. Not that I see either being any problem even if I didn't explicitly request them, but still...
Just don't ask him for any 1999 Pio Cesare Barolo Ornato reserve!!!
reminds me of a Japanese Mon
Yes! Or maybe sort of nordic... like, pagan, which is a different sort of "tribal," I suppose.
I think all of these connotations come about because it looks like someone carved it into a piece of wood. (at least to me, perhaps others have different reasons for arriving at their conclusions)
It looks Native American to me because that type of patterning is common in Native American art. There is a reservation not too far from where I live and I have been to their museum. The symbol looks like something from there.

Just when I think no oone is reading the Beer (and wine) thread...
I would define it as:
"Echoes of kisses and mockeries. Yearn for refuge as your own personal abyss claims what you have stolen from it."
And that meant that I like it. Looking forward to see more.
PD: And that have become my MSN "subnick" for the week : D
So I take it I'm not the only one who sees it as Lovecraftian? I mean, I've got descriptions ranging from "evil", "tribal", and now a description involving stealing from an abyss...
Lovecraftian overtones abound. I'm also seeing an Illithid worshipping cult symbol. Could it not be a mother goddess's matriarchal symbol..? Sigil for the Tri-moon sect's ecliptical confluence that fortells great prosperity for the land!?! I'm just saying it ain't necessarily vile. True, I'm hardly thinking of any decent exalted themes for it but... I'm just saying.
