how much trouble would a [1st lvl] party be in facing a 20th level commoner?

52 average hp before Con, +10/+5 base attack bonus, +6 to each save, eight feats, and 220,000 gp in resources...
(All of which are close to the stats of a 10th-level fighter PC...)
That 1st-level party is Screwed with a capital "S".
heh, that reminds me of adom (www.adom.de). if your first level character decided to rob the shop, the shopkeeper would kill you in one hit. with a hurled gold piece. from very far away.
;o;
Oh, btw, I have to tell this to you guys...
One of my oafs who played one of my campaigns made it up to Level 21 (Fig 11/DwDef 10) and had a unique set of armor that gave him Fire Resist 50 (but that was about it). My other friend who was an evil-half-orc barbarian overlord harboring a powerful almost-dead quasi-deity fought the dwarven "offender" (he wasn't very well liked by law officals) on the elemental plane of fire over a volcanoe (while flying). The half-orc got a hold of the dwarf and with his mighty strength (Str 48, yeah, a lot) threw the dwarf into the volcanoe. The dwarf was immersed in the volcanoe and couldn't get out due to lack of swimming ability and hevay loads on his back.
Basically the rest went like this.
Fire Damage/round: [dice]20d6[/dice] - 50 for the armor wasn't gonna do in to this 400+ hit point dwarf anytime soon.
How did he die then? He suffocated.
That's right, he wasn't burned to death, he suffocated. That's how silly high level games can get.
yubbs. hurled gold pieces for teh win!
