Title: The Kapn's Modified 4E D&D Character Sheet
Post by: Xeviat on October 28, 2008, 03:19:38 AM
So, I'm (for the most part) loving 4E right now. Right off the bat I found the new character sheet to be much more user friendly than the 3E and 3.5E versions. But after getting a chance to watch some new-to-D&D people play, I noticed a few shortcomings of the sheet. One problem was there isn't enough space to right down what your powers do (thus requiring power cards or constant flipping through the books). Another problem is there isn't enough place to right down info on what your feats do, or what your items do. There are a few things on the front of the page I think could be on the back (feats, which usually modify things on the front of page and thus don't need to be referenced again), while other things need to be on the front (your powers, which you use almost every round).

So I didn't change the sheet much. I didn't even make new graphics, I just modified things with my mediocre photoshop skillz.

I'd like to discuss what I can make better.

So I'm a 'tard. Here's the link. It's just the first page now.

Looking good. I personally just put that stuff on a separate sheet of paper. Though if it works, more power to ya for using this type of thing. :)

Very nice. This may be small but that is lookin like kind of a small amount of bars to put the encounter and daily powers.

I always like to see a character sheet made by someone that actually plays the game.  I wouldn't call this sheet perfect (but it seems you wouldn't, either) but I do think I like it better than the WotC sheet.

It seems that you are working simply with the WotC sheet and just moving parts around.  Is this the case?  If it is, I don't see how you could have done any better at all.  Nicely done.  I would certainly use this over the WotC sheet, myself.

Drizzt; characters only learn 4 class encounter and 4 class daily powers. Most characters will have 1 racial encounter. I've left 6 spaces for encounter and daily powers. Truthfully, some classes have extra powers (lay on hands, the divinity powers, wizard cantrips), so it isn't perfect, but not everyone in my group likes to use power cards.

Thanks everyone, especially Ninja D! I'm still working on the second page and on fine-tuning the first page.
