Title: Golemborg (Datrik)
Post by: Xathan on May 30, 2006, 05:59:23 PM
This class is no where near finished and very overpowered. It needs considerable toning down and modification.

Ok, this is very rough right now. The Golemborg is supposed to be a cyborg type class. The Enhancements it games, which are not written up, are supposed to be physical versions of the warlockâ,¬,,¢s invocations. Meanwhile, I want to give it either DR or the Armor bonus, not sure which. Feedback is needed for which one to pick, help on what to allow them to do with enhancements, and other abilities for the class to flesh it out more.

Enhancements: A golemborg gains enhancements, which grant it extra abilities. Enhancements are static â,¬' they do not change, and are always present. Some enhancements require activation, such as those that are attacks, while others have a limited use per day. The save DC for Enhancements is 10 + the Enhancement Rating (1-9) + your constitution modifier.

Slam Attack A golemborgâ,¬,,¢s modifications grant her a natural slam attack for 1d4 damage. This slam attack can be enhanced like a manufactured weapon, and has the same cost associated with enhancing a manufactured weapon the same amount. When wielding a weapon in one hand, a golemborg can attack with her slam attack at a â,¬'5 penalty.

Armor Bonus At first level, a golemborg gains an armor bonus. This bonus comes from armor plating placed on the golemborgâ,¬,,¢s body, granting her a bonus as if she were wearing armor. This bonus does not stack with bonuses from other sources of manufactured armor. At 4th level, and every 4 levels thereafter, the golemborgâ,¬,,¢s armor bonus increases by 1. This armor has a spell failure chance of 10%

Damage Reduction at 5th level, and ever 5 levels thereafter, a golemborg gains damage reduction that can be overcome by adamantine weapons, like the damage reduction of an actual golem.

Construct Apotheosis At 20th level, a golemborg undergoes a transformation. Her type changes to construct, and she gains the living construct subtype in addition to any existing subtypes she had.

Again, this is somewhat crude for now: Help is much appreciated. I want to make them able to be anything: A golemborg that chooses the right enhancements could be an agile and deadly fighter, while one that chooses different enhancements could â,¬Ëtankâ,¬,,¢ with the best of them. Enhancement ideas are much appreciated.

So, some thought I had, helped by nasty:

I might take out the enhancements and replace them with...well, I don't know what I'd call them. Whatever they are, they would be abilities that would usable on a vancian or point system, much like spells or powers, and would allow you to turn your hand into a sword, fly, bonuses on checks and skills, stuff like that. Thoughts?

This sounds like something from Full Metal Alchemist, so sweet.  I like where this is going, even if i'll never use it. :P

Reduce the AC bonus so it maxes at +5 at lvl 20, and keep both it and the DR as it is.

Maybe a progression like this,

Tier One:
Bludgeoning Hand
Piercing Hand
Slashing Hand
Pass without trace
Skill Focus (choose one)
Tracking

Tier Two:
Elemental damage types added to hand(choose one)
Fly
Ability boost (choose one)

Tier Three:
Silver/Adamantine/cold iron damage types added to hand(choose one)
Freedom of Movement
Spell resistance
Energy resistance

You would have to take pass without trace before fly was available sort of chains.
Maybe throw in some soulknifesque weapon enhancements.

Hmm...I really like. Thanks for the ideas, that gives me a good, solid basis to go off of.

Maybe add a stoneshape/flesh to stone/meld with stone progression.
