Title: Oh the Weather Outside is Frightful...
Post by: LordVreeg on December 21, 2008, 11:00:19 AM
Just thought I would share the 6AM goodness with MiniVreeg's first snow.
2 pictures of us in Jaime's First Snow (http://jaimemorrison.pbwiki.com/First-Snow)
Not that we share a lot of pictures, but I don't mind a little iconoclasm.

So little. Our kids were older than that when they first came home.

It was 8 degrees yesterday, and all the snow turned hard and crusty from sun - but they still wanted to go out and play in it.

That boy cracks me up.
SF, how much snow do you have?
For us, it's been snowing pretty much for 3 days, while not a ton, the driving has been ridiculously bad.

Well, we went up to Breckenridge for thanksgiving, and when we got back we had 18 inches of snow in our driveway. Freak storm, wasn't in the forecast.

By now we are down to about 4-5 inches of nasty stuff. Haven't had any fresh in a week or so. Big cold snap the last couple of days, but no real snow with this front. The mountains have been hammered, but not us.

Well, thank you.
We don't do visuals that much on the CBG, but I didn't seem to be able to find the right thousand words.

Wow you really are sick and twisted vreeg. Putting the gothling in cute fuzzy outfits instead of what he's used to (black leather). You should bring him over here. It's been snowing for the past week and our forecast is calling for at least 4 more days of snow (also it gives you an excuse to come try the wine :P ).

Aww, he's so cute! :)

Here in Reno we received an inch or 3 of snow last week. Luckily, all but the thick, packed in ice has melted.

I have to say, both of those pictures are quite good. You should use them as Christmas/Holiday cards! :)

Also I find your kids name eerie. Jaime Morrison (my dad's name is Jamie Morrison).

Well, Nomadic, you can call him by his full name and skip the sobriquet.
(NJM-V)
And for those who have spoken about the weather, we've had three straight days of white stuff.  Going home to light a fire.
SF, any pictures of the Boys?

We've currently got a half foot of snow on the roads... and are supposed to get about 10 more inches by 6 pm tomorrow night, maybe more. I was blazing a trail coming home from a friend's place a few minutes ago.

I can't even tell how much snow we've gotten but it is a lot. Our apartment door is at the bottom of a slanted parking lot and underneath grated stair (I mean with holes in them) so it just piles up. I was barely able to push it open far enough to get out for work earlier. I had to push against the wall, grab the pillar from the stairs, and swing over a pile of the white stuff.

You're right, Vreeg, a good coat is one of the best things you can possibly have. Say, where are you from?

We've got about a foot up here. It's been snowing pretty hard much of the weekend and friday.

This is up in Toronto by the way.

Gotta love the Canadian winter!

I hear you guys get hit pretty hard out east, too.

We've probably got around a foot here, too. Hard to tell in the city.

and it just kept coming for three days...that was the hardest part, there was no break at all.  That and the shoppers turned my commute home into a 1.5 hour explitive-fest.

@Captain, I can only imagine up in Canada.

Indeed, here in Canada we are actually getting a lot of snow (which helps fuel Americans who think that we're constantly blanketed), to the point where all of the country has snow on the ground for Christmas - the first time in a very long time.

Oh the weather outside is frightful
But the fire is so delightful
Except that it's attracting wolves
Oh we're dead, oh we're dead, or we're dead.

When I lived in Toronto, we didn't get much snow - but when we did, it was always wet, sloppy, miserable stuff. It got in your coat, your pants, your boots and the wetness alone made you feel 10 degrees colder.

Minnesota was actually better - it was cold enough that the snow would stay decently frozen. It's easier to keep the cold air out than the wet slush.

Totally agree.  The wet/cold combination is the worst.  (Time to go create some slushy spells---cool, I needed to make more water-based spells)
We're in the teens today, but tomorrow is shooting into the 40's...WTF? :wtf:

So as many of you know, I am lucky enough to be able to split my time between college in Hawaii and jet lagged holidays in Maryland.

It's 28 degrees in Maryland right now.  It's 77 degrees in Hawaii.  I just realized I don't actually have winter clothes anymore.  I'm kinda cold.

I used to live in Bremerton, Washington. We would get lots of snow but it was all super saturated stuff. Came down in big globs of slush and froze over to create a thick sheet of ice on everything.

Yeah, the slush is always a big issue, but we are getting quite a bit of nice snow this year. just got another couple inches last night. sposed to rain on x-mas and boxing day, though, which is intorelably lame.
Question - who else here is Canadian, and if so, from what point? any more Torontonians?
