And you thought they weren't going to happen!
Ishmayl has been far too busy lately, unfortunately, but he has appointed me Mistress of Ceremonies this year and I will try not to disappoint (too much).
Nominations are done. Thank you all for participating. Now it's time to vote. :D
Send your votes to me (sparkletwist) via private message right here on this site-- yes, I know there's no such thing as a 'secret ballot' that way, but I don't think that matters too much, given that I'll be the only one who sees the messages and if you're worried about what I think of you, you have worse problems. :P
The easiest way to vote is to just copy and paste the list of nominees and delete everyone except the person you want to vote for. Write-in votes are also acceptable.
Anyway, the categories and nominees are:
Crunchiest Crunch - This user is adept at creating races, classes, and mechanics that are well-designed and make games fun and balanced.
- Lath
- Tilumni
- Lord Vreeg
Fluffiest Fluff - This user has a way with words and always puts you right there, weaving elaborate tales of the weird and wonderful.
- Steerpike
- Light Dragon
- Leetz
- Polycarp!
- Phoenix
Miss Congeniality - Helpful to oldbie and newbie alike, and is always fun to be around. The sort of person you wish there were more of, except if you mean lots of identical clones, because that would be creepy.
- Light Dragon
- Nomadic
- Steerpike
- Ghostman
Professor of Pragmatism - This user is known for making useful posts full of constructive criticism, detailed analysis, and other things that make your head hurt but make you feel smarter after you're done reading it.
- Light Dragon
- Ghostman
- Phoenix
- Snargash Moonclaw
- Llum
- Elemental Elf
Wiki Wizardry - This user has made great use of the CBG wiki, making a design that really stands out, and/or has designed numerous useful templates that everyone on the wiki now uses.
- Phoenix
Full-blown Visual Aids - This user always makes use of lots great pictures and/or maps that really stand out. If a picture really was worth 1000 words, this user would have produced a truckload of encyclopedias written by John Grisham.
- Steerpike
- Lath
- Leetz
- Elemental Elf
Town Drunkard - This user is always posting in the tavern. Sometimes it's funny, sometimes it's insightful, and sometimes it's some random thing at 2 AM that makes you wonder when some people actually manage to get any sleep.
- Wensleydale
- Nomadic
- Lord Vreeg
And of course...
Mostest Awesomest Setting of the Year - This campaign setting is the awesomest of an awesome lot, very well detailed, with enough information to run an entire campaign, and is full of unique, original features.
- Steerpike's Cadaverous Earth
- Eschaton by Phoenix
- Polycarp!'s Clockwork Jungle
- Gamer Printshop's Kaidan
Nominations:
Professor of Pragmatism - Light Dragon
Miss Congeniality - Nomadic
Full-blown Visual Aids - Leetz
Town Drunkard - Lord Vreeg
Awesomest Setting - Polycarp! for Clockwork Jungle
The other categories I either don't follow enough or I'm way too torn to nominate someone (Fluffiest Fluff).
Crunchiest Crunch - Tilumni for trying to build a new system that's different
Fluffiest Fluff - Steerpike
Miss Congeniality - Light Dragon
Professor of Pragmatism - Snargash Moonclaw
Wiki Wizardry - Ishmayl
Full-blown Visual Aids - yeah, Leetz
Town Drunkard - Wensleydale (Should we really call it this? It makes it sound like less of award...)
Mostest Awesomest Setting of the Year - Polycarp! for Clockwork Jungle
Mistress...Mistress!!! rules for those of us who have won before, soe we can do the right thing?
Quote from: SteerpikeMiss Congeniality - Nomadic
If you were anyone else I would decline on principle for being called "Miss". However, as it is you I gladly accept :P
Also I will get my nominations up. Need to browse back through things again and figure out who I think deserves what.
Quote from: Lord VreegMistress...Mistress!!! rules for those of us who have won before, soe we can do the right thing?
No special rules.
In the past, some people who have won before have declined, but I'm not going to force it on anyone.
OK. then by precedent, at least for the 09 Guilderbergs, Celtricia is out of bounds for setting. And I am out of bounds for pragmaticized.
Hello! Thank you for the nominations. I am currently traveling so will not be around much. I accept the nominations that were offered. :)
Here are my suggestions:
Town Drunkard- Cheomesh
Visual Aids- Leetz, of course.
Congeniality- Steerpike (Posts ideas and suggestions in many people's Threads.)
Setting- Steerpike's Cadaverous Earth (Detailed, entertaining, well written... gives Polycarp! a run for his money.)
Fluff- Since Steerpike is already noted; I will suggest Polycarp!
Pragmatism- ?
Wiki- ?
Crunch- Lath
Can I nominate Ghostman for Congeniality and/or Pragmatism? He always has good questions.
Quote from: PhoenixTown Drunkard - Wensleydale (Should we really call it this? It makes it sound like less of award...)
I would be fine with being called town drunkard. :P Certainly I accept this nomination.
Quote from: PhoenixWiki Wizardry - Ishmayl
Phoenix, thanks for the nomination, but since I'm currently no longer updating my wiki, I don't feel right about accepting that.
Here are my nominations:
Crunchiest Crunch - Lord Vreeg, for his Guild system
Fluffiest Fluff - Steerpike, for the wonderful way in which he weaves our wanderings through The Cadaverous Earth
Miss Congeniality - To Be Announced (Later)...
Professor of Pragmatism - Llum, who seems to read every thread (especially the beer/wine thread!), from new and old members alike, and always offers his thoughts
Wiki Wizardry - Phoenix, for his awesome setting wiki
Full-blown Visual Aids - To Be Continued...
Town Drunkard - Wensleydale, who, by the way, also needs to be honored for his remarkable work on languages, but there is usually no category for that...
Mostest Awesomest Setting of the Year - Clockwork Jungle ("thirding" Poly's nomination)
I accept the offered nominations. Looking forward to the results. Pragmatism seems to have the most nominated members so far...
Quote from: IshmaylPhoenix, thanks for the nomination, but since I'm currently no longer updating my wiki, I don't feel right about accepting that.
You've made some pretty nice templates, too.
And thanks, I accept the nomination.
Updated the thread, and I altered the description of the visual aids award to include maps, too.
How about for people who make maps for other people, not just those that have nice maps in their campaign setting?
I humbly accept my nomination for Crunch: Not a category that i thought i would be in contention for (I forgot about the 4e generic classes and the combat table I made)
Here are my nominations:
Crunchiest Crunch - Cheomesh
Fluffiest Fluff - Light Dragon
Miss Congeniality - Nomadic
Professor of Pragmatism - Llum!
Wiki Wizardry - Phoenix
Full-blown Visual Aids - Elemental Elf!
Town Drunkard - Wensleydale, Vreeg, Nomadic (The three wise men of the CBG)
Mostest Awesomest Setting of the Year - The Cadaverous Earth
Quote from: sparkletwistUpdated the thread, and I altered the description of the visual aids award to include maps, too.
We've got so many nice map makers, it seems like this should be a separate category. Unless the idea is just so Leetz has some competition :rambo:
ok here we go...my nominations if some have already been nominated then oh well, at least you see my support :P
Fluffiest Fluff - Steerpike
Professor of Pragmatism - Phoenix
Full-blown Visual Aids - Elemental Elf
Mostest Awesomest Setting of the Year - Gamer Printshop's Kaidan
[ooc]I'm amazed that I didn't get any mention in the drunkard of the year section, seeing as my pastime on here is harassing people in the tavern :P Then again... vreeg does drink alot[/ooc]
I happily accept my nomination by Eladris :)
As for my own:
Fluffiest Fluff - Leetz
Professor of Pragmatism - Elemental_Elf
Full-blown Visual Aids - Steerpike
Mostest Awesomest Setting of the Year - Cadaverous Earth by Steerpike
Quote from: IshmaylHow about for people who make maps for other people, not just those that have nice maps in their campaign setting?
Yeah, I've also updated the description to be less about one's own setting.
People who have generously made maps for others should of course be eligible, in addition, non-setting-related visual aids should be eligible, like Steerpike's goblin thread. (Which I see he's gotten nominated for, good!)
IN that case,
Full Blown Visual Aids - I nominate Lath for his amazing (and free!) maps he's been contributing.
Well thanks for the nomination! I'm kinda surprised since I haven't been nearly so active here this last year, but happy to accept it.
Why thank y'all kindly, I do accept.

Well Thank you Ish, I accept that nomination too!
 Mien Gott; Thats two!
Also i have been thinking, Rookie of the Year should be in this years Guildies. It was good at encouraging "new" members to post more and to be more involved here and not be intimidated. I know we are going a shortened program this year but I think that catagory was a keeper.
Thank again!
Quote from: LathTown Drunkard - Wensleydale, Vreeg, Nomadic (The three wise men of the CBG)
Completely missed this o_o. Provided nominating more than one is allowed I will accept. On another note I wonder what gifts we would bring. Vreeg of course with his wine, and wensley bringing the cheese... I could bring a rare turtle bard to play for them (move over drummer boy).
Updated.
For the sake of simplicity, I've assuming that anyone who has already accepted a nomination in any category has also accepted nominations in any other category. It saves a lot of checking, posting, waiting, and whatnot. If you wish to overtly decline any nomination for any reason, you still can, of course.

My reasoning for removing it was that having a special "newbie award" seemed exclusionary in its own way. If a new user has created something exceptional, then the best reaction seemed to be to nominate that user for the crunch, fluff, great setting, etc. award. I didn't want to create an atmosphere that only people who have been around for a long time are eligible for consideration. If new users are being considered equally with old-time users for the main content awards, I think there's really no need for anything special.
Quote from: NomadicProvided nominating more than one is allowed I will accept.
I wouldn't object as long as everyone doesn't spam the nominations.... :P
Since the other two have already been nominated by others, it doesn't even matter in this case.
I nominate Vreeg for Professor of Pragmatism.
Quote from: AcrimoneI nominate Vreeg for Professor of Pragmatism.
He excluded himself.
Quote from: VreegI am out of bounds for pragmaticized.
Well, i would contribute, except it seems that most of the persons i would nominate have already been nominated :)
But I'll be keeping tabs on the progress of the ceremony.

Vreeg for Guildschool mechanics.
Fluffiest Fluff - This user has a way with words and always puts you right there, weaving elaborate tales of the weird and wonderful.
Steerpike for all the various threads.
Wiki Wizardry - This user has made great use of the CBG wiki, making a design that really stands out, and/or has designed numerous useful templates that everyone on the wiki now uses.
Phoenix for the new Eschaton wiki stuff, looks great.
Full-blown Visual Aids - This user always makes use of lots great pictures and/or maps that really stand out. If a picture really was worth 1000 words, this user would have produced a truckload of encyclopedias written by John Grisham.
Lathe for the maps.

Wensleydale, seems to use the Tavern more then the actual forums :D
Mostest Awesomest Setting of the Year - This campaign setting is the awesomest of an awesome lot, very well detailed, with enough information to run an entire campaign, and is full of unique, original features.
Eschaton by Phoenix. The scope and incorporation of mythology continues to amaze me.

Awww
Here I didn't even realize people were reading the wiki ;)

Fluffiest Fluff- Phoenix
Miss Congeniality - Nomadic
Professor of Pragmatism - Ghostman
Wiki Wizardry - Phoenix (he's a true Wiki Wizard in my opinion!)
Full-blown Visual Aids- Lath
Town Drunkard - Nomadic
Mostest Awesomest Setting of the Year- Eschaton by Phoenix
I accept my nominations - and regardless of who wins, I'm happy that people have enjoyed my stuff enough to nominate it.
I have been absent for a few weeks, so I only just got to this thread, and the nominations I would have made have already been made! Might as well let things stand and keep my vote a secret. ;)
I accept (shrugs), I guess I ought to stick Kaidan in the Wiki sometime, so its more officially a setting here. Otherwise, thanks for the nomination.
GP
Only a few days left!
In particular, Crunch and Wiki are still uncontested, Crunch because nobody's gotten around to accepting their nominations!
Maybe one should get around to writing some crunch sooner or later so we can get the competition going in that category :)
i will accept this puzzling crunch nomination.
I nominate...
Fluffiest Fluff
Steerpike
Mostest Awesomest Setting of the Year
Steerpike's Cadaverous Earth
The other categories, I feel uhm, either no opinion or unable to judge....
Hehe, seems biassed Kindling, you sure there weren't any bribes involved? :p
No.... I mean yes... I mean...
I accept, and would like to nominate Beejazz for his home brew system.
and sorry about the late reply, been busy with babysitting.
Bump! Time is running out. :D
Sparkletwist for Miss Congeniality.
I didn't think I was even going to be posting here again, so I just got the message I was nominated today. Sorry :/
M.
Bump! Voting time!
Bump. Didn't realize this was open for voting until I read Ish's announcement. (See first page for people and categories)
Ah darn, didn't make it.
M.
I don't think she realized you were accepting the nomination.
In retrospect, Cataclysmic Crow should also be added to Fluff for his work with Broken Verge. I do not think my vote goes to him, but in considering who to vote for in the Fluff round I was surprised to not see him included.
Quote from: Light DragonI don't think she realized you were accepting the nomination.
This. It looked much more like you were saying you weren't around here enough anymore to even participate in any awards.
Oh, no, that wasn't my intention in the least I'm afraid :S
M.
Bump. Don't forget to vote. :D
How long are you allowing to vote, I'll add that info to the news
I don't know yet. The end of the month might not be bad... but I'm a little disappointed with the turnout so far. Maybe a little time pressure would help? :P
Don't we usually do two weeks or something?
Quote from: PhoenixDon't we usually do two weeks or something?
Yeah that's what I thought it was.
Don't worry ST, that last two years, I received probably 75% of the votes on the last 3-5 days of voting. I'll make an announcement that gives until the end of the month.
Quote from: TillumniI accept, and would like to nominate Beejazz for his home brew system.

Aw... didn't see this thread until now, I don't think. I accept if I can.
Sorry, it's much too late for that.
Ah, alright then.
Another reminder bump
