[ic=Luke 2:1-3]In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to his own town to register.[/ic]
Since we are pretty awesome ourselves we get to be the Romans, and our town is of course thecbg.org. So what I'm proposing is ...
A CENSUS!
[cue dramatic music]
We have lots of settings here, but since our primary focus is on building them, we should probably consider counting which ones are alive, and which aren't. Respect the dead and all that.
So, if you have updated a setting in the last month, write a small description of it, 5-10 lines or so should suffice, and let us know of its presence. Feel free to add links and other necessary things to it. I will then continually update this thread so we can keep count.
Only actual settings qualify, so brainstorms do not count before they get their own full-fledged thread. (you don't count the unborn children)
So to clarify, if you have updated a setting in the last month (or you do it someday in the future) ...
1) Write a small blurb
2) Post it here
Easy as that.

Waiting for Descriptions: Seraphine's stuff
I'll Start:
Broken Verge (http://www.thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?67468.0)
Genre: Dark anachronistic philosophical fantasy with a twist of odd
A harsh world suffering as much from the bad weather as from human folly, the World of Broken Verge currently finds itself undergoing a dramatic transformation; a renaissance. Turmultous times are ahead and forces and coincidences converge to decide the fate of the known world and humanity itself.
The World is a motley amalgam of elements both fantastical, satirical, and mundane; It is a world of monsters, plagues, lunatics and wars, but also of idealism, hope and faith.
So come visit the World Exhibition near the vast city of the Sprawls, cross the Winter Channel and walk with the Mosshulks, summon creatures of abstract thought, battle an electrical mummy, wage war on the corsairs of the Leviathanic sea, and engage in the intrigues of the corrupt court of Khiere.
The world has been reborn and is yours to walk.
Celtricia, World of Factions (http://celtricia.pbworks.com/)
Genre: Mature Fantasy + complete system
The Feel of Celtricia
Imagine living on a continent that was so big no one you had ever met knew the size of it, with huge open spaces between settements. Imagine struggling in an existence where civilized folks crowd together for safety, where tribes of humanoids range around the wildlands between cities, where ferocious predators stalk herds of giant herbivores, and where the night is often terrorized by walking dead searching out the unprotected living.
At the same time, this is no feudal world. Temples heal the sick as often as not, and magic replaces the need for some technology, and this magic, while not overly powerful, is present enough to allow time for philosophy and politcs.
The last impression that Celtricia should give is the weight of ancient civilizations over everyone. The most indifferent farmer has heard legends from the past referenced while at temple, and has passed ruins or seen ancient buildings in a town, while scholars pour over the incomplete and patchwork written works of over eight thousand years of recorded history.
Celtricia is built for a social-heavy game of politics, networking, and the accumulation of power. Characters often explore the layers of historical ruins, but as a means to power, not as an end.
Savage Age (http://www.thecbg.org/wiki/index.php?title=Savage_Age)
Genres: Dark Fantasy, Sword & Sorcery
Enter a rugged world where Mankind struggles in the murky twilight between civilization and barbarism, between decadence and ignorance. It is a world wrought in the hellish fires of conflict, driven by base ambitions and greeds, by savage lusts and passions. There, gigantic empires rise like hulking titans to dominate and enslave entire nations, ruthless warlords haunt their borders like wolves ready to pounce at the slightest sign of weakness, corrupt sorceries and strange cults meddle with forbidden arcane secrets Man wasn't meant to know, primitive tribes and primeval devils skulk in the unforgiving and unspoiled wilderness, and unspeakable terrors from pre-human cycles slumber beneath the lightless depths of the seas and the earth. It is a world in a Savage Age; the age of undreamed luxuries and sophistication mingled with unparalleled horrors and brutality.
Eschaton (http://www.thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?67552)
Genre: Historical Fantasy/Alternate History
A historical fantasy set in the equivalent of the 1st century BCE. The Earth is much like the historical Earth, with places and characters renamed after or drawn from mythology. All the named players in the world are characters from mythology, as are all supernatural creatures. The world itself is fairly mundane, but the underworld is a surreal realm home to various spirits. On Earth, the only significant supernatural influence comes from the siddha--men with the blood and power of gods who are variously hated, feared, worshiped, or hunted.
The metaplot revolves around the coming the Eschaton--the end of time. Every religion tells us of a last battle, a time when the world descends into darkness, a time when there will be no more time. The Destroyer has been incarnated. It is not prophecy. It is History. The end is coming.
Pinnacle (http://www.thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?68757.last)
Genre Abstract.
The setting is a dream for the players. The only consistant thing (as of yet) is the city of Pinnacle and resources known as stones, divided into two categories : Bloodstone (HP) and Magistone (MP). Other than the city, players continually encounter the four Absolutes, who act as gods in this setting, defining the natural laws.
My settings not dead, per se, just not been updates in... well... since sometime last year, Lol. I should probably do something about that........
Calisenthe: (http://www.thecbg.org/wiki/index.php?title=Calisenthe)
Genre: Anthro-historical Classical Fantasy
System: Rolemaster (RM2) chassis with extreme customization
The world is neither a planet nor even round; it is flat and floating in a pool of water in the Palace of the Gods. Taking this as a starting point, Calisenthe is designed to be a deep-construction gaming world firmly in the DivSet tradition that allows players and DMs to pull as much historical and religious background as they would like into their campaigns. Calisenthe is designed to be "realistic" in an anthropological, historical, and economic sense, given its starting parameters.
The humans of Calisenthe have only existed for about 30,000 years, and have only had civilization for a fifth of that time. The various cultural and physical differences between the strains of humanity are primarily the result of the original peoples each receiving a different blessing from one of the "Good" Gods. Since that time, the race of man has grown in power and knowledge and has built great civilizations, some of which have fallen, some of which are now waxing, and some of which are now waning.
The focus of RP in Calisenthe is designed to be on political and factional intrigue, where everything the players do yields some sort of reaction from someone, but it need not always be thus. There is room for all styles of play in this sprawling, diverse setting.
I guess I like post-apoc.; included Wake because the book isn't shut and my thoughts on magic were posted pretty recently in LV's thread.
Ansolon (http://www.thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?68749)
Genre: Dark fantasy, survival
The destruction of the moon abruptly ends an age of peace and enlightenment, civilization struggles to endure the fallout while the influence of a corrupt goddess spreads across the world.
Wake (http://www.thecbg.org/wiki/index.php?title=Wake)
Genre: Surreal high fantasy, adventure
The old universe is gone, destroyed in a war that culminated in its Shattering. Civilization is now scattered among dozens of shard-worlds, preserved from oblivion, and slowly learns that these incomplete worlds are nothing more than the memories and dreams of the gods.
Well, Kindling, I'll just use this page as incitement for you to add more stuff to your great settings.
Report back later when your mission has been accomplished :p
The Discworld of Tu'loras
Old School 2nd Edition Feel, with a perspective from the Feudal Peasant. Emphasis on Classic Troups, Gritty realistic communities, with all the mystery of magic, beasts, and heroes. There is no division between Civilized and Monstrous races, instead Humans, Ogres, Lizardfolk, Kobolds, Dwarves, Gnomes, Halflings, Star Elves, Moon Elves, Sun Elves, Hobs, Gobs, Orcs, Centaurs, Minotaurs, and Satyrs all live and build societies. Characters can be of any race. The Gods are a mix match of original gods and all the gods of Human history, with conflict between Racial Gods and Disc Creators.
It's not dead yet!
The Jade Stage (http://www.thecbg.org/wiki/index.php?title=Jade_Stage)
Genre: gravelly "low" fantasy; heavy political and industrial elements
System: ???
Here we have a flat world, with all the best parts of the discovered continents already settled and squabbled over, with urban industry and the promise of wealth slowly luring rural tribes away from their traditions and their ancestral land and into the burgeoning cities. Here we have wars and slavery and Imperial occupations and insurrectionist uprisings; here we have political discourse and back-room deal-making in the halls of power and ruthless backstabbery. Here we have the detritus of orkish civilization, who dared to conquer the world and were repaid with extermination, and the searchings and strivings of humans, exiles in an unfamiliar land.
Every time I try to describe this setting, it gets harder and harder to do.
The Cadaverous Earth (http://www.thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?56772)
Genre Dying Earth, Post-Apocalyptic, Pulp, Dark Fantasy
System "Visceral/Baroque" - In progress
Society has crumbled, the last great empires of man consumed in the Membrane Wars, the wormfolk Imperium that grew after long collapsed, the great city states that followed laid waste by plague and disaster, the horrors of the Pallid Decimation or the crimson inundations of the Red Rain. All that remains: the seven last and lonely Twilight Cities, ancient beyond reckoning, teeming with the mad, the perverse, the cruel, and the dead. And beyond? A barren desolation, the Slaughter-lands, graveyard of civilizations, haunted by demons and fetch, by the hideous oneiroi born of the Suppuration, by the spreading cancer-forest called the Fecundity.
This earth is no longer merely dying. It has grown cadaverous, its myriad peoples as maggots on a corpse: the apathetic and occasionally psychotic bloodsuckers called the leechkin, the immeasurably sadistic parasite-industrialists of the Lords Revenant with their zombie proletariat, the bizarre, amhibious hagmen, the conniving, many-armed lilix, the tale-spinning, necrophagic, vulture-winged jatayi, the cat-eyed and gray-skinned ghilan, the macabre shades with their puppet-bodies, the sinister incubi called ediolons, the revolting filth-eating cestoids, and dozens more.
Xell - Chimera City (http://www.thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?66961)
Genre Surreal Fantasy, Steampunk, Gothic
System ???
Between the wine-dark waters of Fablesea and the brooding eaves of the Tangle, Chimera City rises in unreal resplendence, like a thing from a dream, or at least a particularly lush nightmare. From across a dozen old and mellowed continents come its many inhabitants: humans, of course, and tatooed ratheads, iridescent glassmen, pallid mothlings, orchidfolk gossiping in their perfume-tongue, shifting switchskins. In the wood beyond, fey things stir and mutter and giggle with alien glee; under the waves, primordial intelligences reach out with grasping tendrils; beneath the city itself shadowy horrors gnash their many mouths, while the Flea sup blood from proffered bowls.
Here the Profane bruise flesh with a curse, the Glib fashion their gorgeous reality-bending lies, the Innocent conjure with witless purity, and the Truly Mad give birth to malevolent wraiths, spawn of their illness. Here a host of spirits prey on the sleeping populace, gangsters hire mercenary ghouls to fight their subterannean turf-wars, and decadents sip absinthe and sherry-wine while watching duels in the high gantries above the streets.
Quote from: Cataclysmic CrowWell, Kindling, I'll just use this page as incitement for you to add more stuff to your great settings.
Report back later when your mission has been accomplished :p
Yes sir!
Well, i did actually add them since it became a bit cluttered to organize it any other way, but pretend you don't know that :P
Oh yes, so you did... nitpick: It's JALeract, not JELeract :)
Corrected it. But remember: you don't know there are on the list! you must still work hard to get them up there :)
Let us know they are alive!
Well, I haven't updated Panisadore in the last month, but it's far from dead. . .
Now stickied for your convenience.
The Clockwork Jungle (http://www.thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?39646.0)
Genre: High Fantasy, Exploration, Alien World
Imagine a vast forest, stretching as far as the eye can see, interrupted only by mangrove-choked seas, white-capped mountains, and the great volcanic wasteland of the Obsidian Plain. Here, in a world completely foreign to our own, four races seek to build powerful and lasting civilizations in a world as fierce as it is wondrous and beautiful. Nature, abundant and colorful, mingles with the ancient ruins of a long-lost people and their clockwork servants that still carry out their ancient orders. Everywhere, there is new exploration, new invention, new growth, and new hope - but there are those who seek to steal the secrets of the world for their own ends, and in the deepest thickets lurks the Saffron Moss, the great all-consuming peril that once nearly subjugated the world to its will and does not intend to fail again.
Thanks Ishmayl :D
And Snargash, you need to post a blurp. Rules are rules and this should be a convenient directory.
EDIT: Oh, and just noticed that didn't even put up the blurbs Kindling. That you should be able to do at least. :p
Phoenix- It would be nice if your list hyperlinked to the posts where people describe their setting- I think you can link to individual posts on the forum.
The list at the top currently shows which ones are updated, but the user has to point and click to find the settings down lower in this thread.

Er? What that supposed to be addressed to Cataclysmic Crow? We avians stick together, but I can't edit the first post in this thread if that's what you meant.
Gloria (http://www.thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?65170)
Genre: Fantasy, Wonder (Weird Fantasy)
System: Gloria
Gloria is utopia. But even utopia needs maintenance. This idyllic capitalist land exists side-by-side with pirate libertarian kingdoms, and nefarious socialist lands to its north. The land is one of exploration, development, and invention. Shimmer, an oil-like substance, powers the world and gives rise to near-limitless possibilities.
Gloria's struggles are brighter than most worlds', but even utopia must guard its principles, lest the demons of the past escape and destroy the freedom that was so harshly bought. And, in prosperity, belief in faith and religion and morality suffers as people believe themselves greater than society.
Players plunge into this world of wonder, of development, of success, and attempt to make their own fortunes, while preserving the world's pristine hope and confronting the demons inside themselves and others.
Sorry Phoenix, I meant Crow- you are in charge of the Consultant project. I accidentally confused you fellows.
I might link them at some point, but really, just use ctrl-F. The setting names won't exactly be scattered across the entire page in great numbers. A couple of clicks should get you to the setting you desire :)
Surprise! Bet you guys thought I was gone, didn't you? I'm in the same boat as a couple other people. Really NONE of my settings are DEAD per se (except maybe the hollow world) they've just been . . . hibernating. As have I, apparently. *stretches and yawns* New things may be on the horizon, so I'll get back to you when they arrive.
Hehe, we'll await your return then :)
Panisadore is a fairly homogeneous world on the surface of things, with many layers of complex and interwoven history, variety and intrigue. Things aren't necessarily as they appear when that appearance can be shaped in many different ways by one's background and experiences. . . The world that I've imagined for this setting is very "political" on a number of levels, from the macro cosmic interplay of the deities to the microcosmic conniving of many of the guilds. Since story is largely character driven this may or may not be readily apparent in play, but offers a coherence to the larger story arcs and events that shape them. I've taken primarily a top-down approach, starting with the deities, races and general cultures to create a framework and leaving large portions of the map rather vague for now. Character concepts remain initially more fluid as there is more room to play with them, open spaces in which they can fit. The overall cultural milieu has a vaguely Asian feel to it - Taoist and Buddhist influences are, I think, easily recognized, especially around the equator. The major power in that region is the Malenorian Empire - a large nation of islands similar in many ways to (the worst aspects of) Feudal Japan coupled with the (again, worst) Imperialist ambitions and naval power of the height of the British Empire and displaying a cultural arrogance even greater than both combined. However, I'm not trying to recreate Asia - it's not an Oriental Adventures setting. Actually, I've wondered for a long time what would have happened had the Dharma spread westward rather than eastward. . . The Deities of Panisadore are *very* attentive and the interactions of the various Churches, Orders and Societies, both public and secretive, play a significant role in the world.
Crystalstar (http://www.thecbg.org/wiki/index.php?title=Crystalstar)
Genre: Science Fantasy, Sword & Planet
Crystalstars are beautiful to behold, and terrible to contemplate. The crystals mined from deep within them can bring enlightenment, comfort, and peace to the masses, or it can just as easily incinerate them in a flash of unholy light. In this inconceivably ancient and yet strikingly modern world, crystalline technomagery is responsible for all of the great advances of civilization, and the rise of multitudes of city-states: hardy, insatiable Agahza; ancient, mysterious Varrdyen; and others. They all try to make their way in this changing and tumultuous world, watched over, assisted, and occasionally thwarted by inscrutable and ever-present gods.
Blurbs? Yes, blurbs.
Knife's Edge
An eternity of realities is the sea. The city is the ship.
Angel-ridden, spirit-winged, the arcanopolis of Knife's Edge flees from a Nameless evil between and across and through a myriad worlds and planes of existence.
A pestilent boil of metropolitan fantasy, watched over by deities of a life so grim that it can only be worshipped in terms of the sufferings of those who live it, and stalked by those who are driven mad by their quest for power through blood, Knife's Edge... survives... for now....
Reth Jaleract
Departure became arrival. Refuge became colony. The turmoil of Humanity's sudden and violent appearance in Reth Jaleract has sparked untold conflicts, made uncountable tensions flare into petty battles.
Slavery, rapine, warfare, brutalities of every vein have risen to the fore all across a continent suddenly made a frontier.
Heroes must rise, exceptional individuals hardened and honed in the forge of this chaos. But what influence will these champions have on Reth Jaleract? Will they strive for stability, or perpetuate the madness?
? Why is Gloria not on the list?
I honestly have no idea...
I'll fix it immediately.Thank you for noticing it and mentioning it :) (yeah, it's your own setting, but still)
I'll go ahead and add mine:
Vibrant
Genre: Horror/conspiracy hard science fiction setting
Location: The Milky Way Galaxy, 3221 A.D.
The stars are at your appendages. Welcome to the reality that is, and the others that might be lurking beyond the fabric of space-time in ours. It is in this age that one can witness the culmination of the bizarre theories and actions of humans in the 20th and 21st century when the products meet with those of other space-faring species - the familiar tetrobor and wraz, the enigmatic amaskodi and wzzev, the warlike dyen and corax, and the horrific vorovka - and be in awe. There are factions that cross the galaxy and species both, which possess the drive and power to shake the orbit of the very galaxy from its path. Things best left unspoken can be found in places no one would want to go... but more often they lie beneath where you sleep.
What name do you want it under? :p
And here's mine:
Death from the Depths (http://thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?70565.last)
Genre: Fantasy, with a heaping helping of Celtic influence and a dash of Greek and Norse
Centuries ago, demons of every sort rose up from the depths of the earth to threaten the creations of the Aos Sidhe and the very world itself. Now relegated to cities floating in the clouds and on the seas, the elder races created by the Aos Sidhe and the younger races created by the spirits of air and water watch helplessly as the demonlings turn their world into hell on earth, led by vile ifrits and rakshasa and aided by the spirits of fire, earth, and darkness. A few brave souls from among the elves, satyrs, sylphs, and others hold the cities on land against the onslaught or strike out from the floating cities to destroy as many demons as they can. An alliance with the spirits allowed the elder races to survive the initial destruction, but as years go by with no sign of the demonic flood slowing, many ask themselves how much longer they have....
Now that this post is two pages long, perhaps a link to the settings that are on page 2 might be a good idea?
Thank you for getting Gloria up.
New Dawn of the West (http://www.thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?70350)
Genre: Vanilla Fantasy ala J. R. R. Tolkien, David Eddings and George R.R. Martin
As the West emerges from almost a thousand years of darkness, disease and brutality the first rays of enlightenment begin to shine.
Will the heroes of the West kindle this flame so that it may sign bright or smother it and descend back into darkness?
What of the sleeping gods? Will they be awakened and stop the spread of the new One True God? Or will they slowly drift through dream into legend and myth?
Who are the dark forces that lurk just outside the light and watch the West with greedy eyes and black hearts?
These questions can only be answered by stepping into the New Dawn of the West!
Urbis - A World of Cities (http://urbis.wikidot.com/)
Genre: Magical Industrial Urban Fantasy
Description: What happens when a stereotypical fantasy world with all the standard fantasy tropes goes through a magical industrial revolution. Does more need to be said?
RSS Feed is here (http://urbis.wikidot.com/feed/site-changes.xml).
Arga (http://www.thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?68535.0)
Genre: Alternative Fantasy
Description: An aging world on it's final breath. A place of dead and dying gods, doom cults, eldritch machines, and wild magics. The ruins of past wonders and empires litter the desolate lands, where things called trees once grew, fed by water that was once drinkable. But still the world pushes on - Arga is half-dead, and half-very-alive.
The Third Thing (http://www.thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?71080.last)
Genre: Post-post-apocalyptic sci-fantastic
Atmosphere/Tone: Wry, Playful
Themes: Mischevious trumps Straight, Eschew The Way Of The Overblown, Discover rather than Fear
Colors: sandy gold, concrete grey, sky/ocean blue
Summary: In a universe where interplanetary travel can be accomplished by a hiker with a map, the jin species has recovered from the war that nearly destroyed them and turned their planets into arid deserts. Now their normal lives continue, worshiping contests of skill rather than contests of death. But there is the rest of the universe out there, and it enjoys introducing itself in the most unusual way possible...........
(My attempted to create an interesting setting that strongly discourages the "epic things get done" mentality I get too often from games and instead focus on goals of a more personal level. However I find the best way to dilute importance to a tolerable level is to inject humor, at least a wry reality check and WTF? moment.)
I'm still working on mine. It is at a behind the scenes stage right now, so I am not comfortable posting constant updates. An FAQ is forthcoming, and that should give me an idea on what topics interest players.
Three Worlds
Genre: High Fantasy with Sci Fi approach
System: Modified "Mutants and Masterminds"
A world of dualities: old vs. new, civilized vs. wild, light vs. dark. A fantasy setting approached in a believable matter, designed to explore how magic and fantastic races would affect the development of humanity. Otherwise it is traditional high fantasy with some new elements.
Mare Eternus
Genre: Magitech Exploratory
Atmosphere: Mysterious, Wonderous, Adventerous
Summary: An endless ocean filled with hollow worlds, massive clockwork, and other stranger things. The expanse is home to endless peoples, mysteries, and wonders waiting to be uncovered. The atmosphere in such a strange world is dynamic and philosophical as people fight for wealth, fame, and the answers to why the universe works like it does.
The Third Thing should probably be taken off. It looks like I'm not going to be working on it.
Don't think it's been updated on the site specifically, but since you just said "updated":
Xiluh.
A Mesoamerican fantasy world with zombie foreigners and living Chia pets. it's ruled almost exclusively by animistic shamanism.
Sorry the blurb isn't that long; it's a fairly well known setting amongst this site, and that's enough of a gist for most of you guys.
[ooc]Good call - I'll bite. It's only active "on here" because I'm active on here, and I represent it. I've been thinking about posting stuff here again, anyways.[/ooc]
Tephra (http://www.crackedmonocle.com)
Genre: Re-Mixed Fantasy Steampunk
System: The Tephra Roleplaying System
Maybe it's the people around you. The towering haudi to your left, the school of ayodin behind you, the gnomes and humans and satyrs drinking to your right, or the farishtaas and the elves harassing the izedan merchants in front of you. Perhaps it's the city streets you walk, thronged with vendors of exotic alchemic crafts and sleek flyers. Or is it the group of magi demonstrating their skill, forming flame and wind to batter another only to have it turned away, or the efforts of a summoner trying to regain control of his daemons after they've had their wits scrambled? It might even be the towering structures that line the alleys and the walls, shrines and cathedrals that celebrate more faiths than you thought possible. There seems so much, too much to have stayed in the same place for so long without colliding.
Collision is all you see, friend. A world of collision, of faith and logic, of magic and steel, of flight and strides. If you want to see it all, it'd be best to begin soon.
Yeah guess what this is. (http://www.thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?24254)
My setting. Number and religion sorta centric, with a healthy dose of victorian-era exploration vibes (though not so much with the technology).
The Saga of the Seven Swords (http://www.thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?71382.last)- XXsiriusXX
Genre: Science/High Fantasy
I am still working on good summery.
Mesopolis
Genre: Near Future Adventure
Science has failed us, and now we are slaves to a system. The great wheel of human existence is ever churning, and has not come to a halt even now. The government rules above, gangs rule below, and savage beasts rule the outside. Where do you stand?
M.
Valgora
A living setting played by members of O.G.R.E.s across our 8 (and growing!) chapters. Began as a anti-Meta gaming test and has slowly grown to much more. "Generic" fantasy feel mostly.
Ouch, some unnoticed posts here! Sorry guys.
Hooper, a more extensive setting intro is needed, as well as a link to your setting preferably :)
That really goes for most of these last entries. Preferably this should be usable by any new people on the site, eh?
If you find one of your settings has become stuck and you decide not to work on it anymore, pleease tell me so I can remove it.
Added the following:
Valgora by Hooper
Mesopolis by Cheomesh
The Saga of the Seven Swords by XXsiriusXX
Dilandri by Stargate525
Xiluh by Rorschach Fritos
Tephra by the Crakmono
Mare Eternus by Nomadic
Arga by Leetz
Urbis by Jürgen Hubert
Three Worlds by Kapn Xeviat
New Dawn of the West by AslanC
Any updates to this?
Anything I should remove?
Island City is semi-active. The main thread is here (http://www.thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?76134). There is a discussion thread here (http://www.thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?54621), which started its life as sort of a brainstorm thread to throw out setting ideas and get feedback. I decided later to try and create a cleaner layout for the setting material and declared the old thread a discussion retroactively. There is also an ongoing PbP on these very CBG boards, the recruitment thread is here (http://thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?53966) and actual play is here (http://thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?62010). Still accepting new players.
One way to describe Island City is: think Buffy. Modern world and vampires, werewolves, witches, ghosts, and faeries exist. The central concept is: the supernaturla is rare and covert and dying except for this one place: Island City.
Now this thread has been resurrected, it might be time for some spring cleaning. So if you deem any of your settings on the list to be dead and given up on, then please notify me.
Teleleli. Or, The City Never Dies; It Just Smells That Way
A mixture of pun-filled fantasy settings like Discworld or The Order of the Stick, and more serious sword and sorcery, with a particular emphasis on sea-going adventures. It's based on my online game ( http://www.ageoffable.net ).
The setting is centred around Teleleli, a 'loveably evil' fantasy port city along the lines of Ankh-Morpork, Port Blacksand or (probably the mother of them all) Lankhmar; the sort of place where Jack Sparrow would be at home.
It's completely system-neutral, and designed so that either the whole setting can be used, or individual elements. Thus there is relatively little in the way of history, powerful named NPCs, or overarching 'metaplot' - but a lot of creatures, adventure locations, and ideas about the daily lives of adventurers. It's also designed so that most fantasy character types will have a place in the world.
My setting notes, which I update frequently, are here: http://thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?78477
Alright, while a bit late, I think I've finally gotten enough updated on this to call it "active."
Avayevnon (http://www.thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?76712.0)
Genre: Steampunk Renaissance Fantasy
The future stands in the balance: Savage and Civilized, The Old Ways and the New Faith, Night and Day, Nature and Artifice. Avayevnon has seen the horrors of heresy, and the work of demons. It has seen plagues and pirates and conflagrations that swept half the world away. But it has also seen hope and miracles.
In Avayevnon, forces battle for ideas. Religions are in conflict with each other, and religions are in conflict with the changing world around them. The secrets of the past are being recovered, and with them emerge all manner of new thought and learning. The world will never be the same.
Now, in cities, factories are being established, ideas are for sale, and honor is at stake. Old glory is threatened by the fires of industry, and that Olde Tyme Religion is threatened on all sides by the Ancient Pagan, the Subversive Modern, and the Heretic.
Blood of Tyrants (http://www.thecbg.org/index.php/topic,209916.0.html)
A superhero setting that is currently rather dark in tone due to the conquest of the world by supervillains framed as the creation of an imaginary indy comic book publisher that has been steadily publishing since the Silver Age or early Bronze Age.
The Vast and the Restless
by Malachi Lemont
In the Vast, geography is a wild card in the course of history. The laws of nature are different here than on Earth, such that a mountain may move several miles within a person's lifetime, a lake may appear out of nowhere one day, and a river might never reach the sea. People will spend centuries building a thriving metropolis only to have it torn in two by a opening in the walls of the world. Many people survive the constantly shifting landscape by always staying on the run, forming nomadic communities based around trade and foraging. Others stake out a spot in the turf and hope that the next earthquake will miss their village.
As a campaign builder, I intend for the Vast and Restless setting to be a mix of the practical and the surreal. The surreal side comes from the land itself. The practical side comes from the people who live there. The people are ordinary humans - no elves, dwarves, or whatnot - who live in multiple complex nations constantly involved in political and religious conflicts. Technology follows an earthlike progression through history in the Vast, starting with early agriculture and continuing to an industrial revolution. The present day of the Vast resembles our mid-1800s, with railroads, rifles, empires, and the beginnings of democracy.
Right now this campaign is located on another site, but I hope to continue it on the Campaign Builders' Guild. For more details, follow the link:
