Title: Chain for the Holidays
Post by: Xeviat on October 25, 2009, 08:09:29 PM
Just rezzing this post instead of starting a new one. Anyone want any chain as gifts for the holidays? Pictures are near the bottom. I have paypall (jasongraybill@gmail.com), and can put most of these works together and send them out within a day.

Chain Bracelets: 5 to 10 bucks depending on weave (photos coming).
Chain Necklaces: 10 to 15 bucks depending on weave.
Chain Dicebags: 20 to 30 bucks.
Chainshirt (it's aluminum): Negotiable (probably like 100 bucks to compete with the oversees labor that makes the ones you can buy online); I'll even size it for you.

Xev,
you take paypal?
(I've seen his work, it's quite good...)

P.S., I assume you mean Mr. Morrison the Younger and more Wandering?

At first I thought he was referring to my chat nick, but then I remembered your name. I totally forgot we had more than one Mr. Morrison...

Xev, I really wish I could help you out, but with my wallet, I can only really say that I wish you the best of luck through this. I've seen pictures of your dicebags before, I'd love one if I could afford one, but alas, I cannot :(

No he's referring to Mr. Morrison the Older and more Wine Loving. You've forgotten that you donated $80 to the guild (I still owe you a map but you still haven't gotten back to me on that :P). And yes if you take paypal I'll send you a little something (don't care if you want handouts or not, you're a friend).

Thanks. My paypal should be my email address.

Jasongraybill @ gmail.com

And it's Norm Morrison's bag, whichever one that is; heh. You two aren't related are you? The bag I already made has orange trim on the top, but I can swap that out for gold trim or just solid steel if you'd like; I never got around to asking you.

I'll get pics of the bracelet/necklace chains on Monday.

Norm Morrison is vreeg. We sort of are related but its most likely a very distant relation.

I'll send you something soon, can't right now since paypal keeps giving me errors.

Ah hell just name a three worlds hobbit after me... preferably one with an expansive waist, a jolly laugh, and a profession as a traveling merchant.

Ok just sent paypal a support query, hopefully they will get this error fixed soon.

Sorry to hear about the trouble. I'd bet my girlfriend would love a bit of chainmail jewelry. I'm broke at the moment but if you plan to keep doing this, I'm getting a big profit sharing check at the begining of next month and would probably buy something from you at least by that time.

EDIT: Now that I've thought about it a bit more, I think I'll see about getting PayPal linked to my new bank account ASAP. Did you mention posting pictures sometime?

Sounds good, I look forward to seeing those pictures and then I'll figure out what I'd like to order from you.

Here's the pictures of the different chains. I'm learning new chains every day now, but I'm not sure how the chain community is on selling weaves other people invented; it's not like they can't be made by others, though some are definitely artistic and not structural chains. I had to take the pictures with my cell phone, so apologies on the quality.

The images are all my bright aluminum. Galvanized steel (my other rings) are dark gray and less lustrous, but they weigh more and you can stick magnets to them if that's your thing.

Shipping's negligable on the bracelets. Necklaces and Bracer add $3 shipping

All Chains

4-1 (Classic Armor chain; I can make it wider like a wristband or a bracer, and I can reinforce it with leather strap)
$5 Aluminum, $10 Steel; add $5 for wristband and $10 for bracer.

3-1 (Definitely the most elegant)
$5 Aluminum, $10 Steel; add $5 for necklace
(http://i441.photobucket.com/albums/qq131/Xeviat/half-persian.jpg)

Round Chain (looks and moves like a rope, I've made a few wallet chains with this weave)
$10 Aluminum, $15 Steel; add $5 for necklace
(http://i441.photobucket.com/albums/qq131/Xeviat/round.jpg)

Inverted Round Chain (an interesting looking chain; I'm working on trapping rings inside of it to make it more structurally sound)
$5 Aluminum, $10 Steel; add $5 for necklace
(http://i441.photobucket.com/albums/qq131/Xeviat/invertedround.jpg)

Plus I have the good old chain dice bag
$25 Aluminum, $30 Steel (Includes $5 Shipping for flat-rate envelope)

Bump indeed. I've been away from my computer more often than not lately but clearly I need to change that to get things sorted out with Pay Pal and order something from you.

Saweeet. Just let me know what interests you and I can get working on it. Also, based on what you want, I'll tell you what measurements to give me (some of the bracelets can be sized as close as sixths of an inch, others in quarters of an inch, and one in only halfs).

Xeviat (the Xeviant) does great work.  I can personally attest. I have some PC's getting dice bags for the holiday.

The bags? A few hours if I'm focused.

Hey everyone, rather than making a new post, I'm just going to rez this one. The Holidays are coming up, so I figure a few of you may want some chainwork again. If there's enough interest, I can even get some colored rings to do some more interesting work.

Currently, I have aluminum and galvanized steel rings. They make cool wallet chains. If anyone's interested, let me know. I have paypall (jasongraybill@gmail.com) and such.

Here's pictures of the chains again.

Holy wow those look sweeeet! Really nice work!

I wonder what the kids on campus would think if I started walking around with a chain shirt...

I really want a dicebag, but I'll have to get back to you on that. My wallet might not want me to invest, so to speak.

But anyways, great stuff!

Hah, chain shirt might be a bit much to walk around with. I'm making one for a costume, and I have an old costume one, but I don't think I'd walk around with it. It would make cool flourishes on a leather jacket though, if you wanted to go for some kind of metal/punk hybrid thing.

Just let me know if you want something. Aluminum dicebag is only 20 bucks.

Just a little bump. My chainshirt is done too.

Another bump. With halloween over and my chainshirt complete, I'll be putting it up for sale. It ended up being very clean on my white shirt; it left a little oxidation, but nothing some Oxiclean won't take out.

My student loan is late this year, so I could really use some money to get me through this month. Let me know if there's anything you'd like to buy. Dicebags make great presents for your DM!

If you have the time to do one by Christmas-ish time, I'd like to buy a bracelet from you. What would you consider to be the best weave to give to my girlfriend? She didn't seem to have a preference, she just likes mail jewelry.
Title: Chain for the Holidays
Post by: Xeviat on November 25, 2010, 05:09:27 PM
The 3in1 is definitely the most delicate weave. There's always 2in1, which is just a single link chain; I've seen a lot of people wearing them even though I don't particularly like it.

Get me a wrist measurement from her and I can have it made and sent out on monday. Did you want aluminum or galvinized steel?

A bump before the holidays. If you get your order in before the end of the week, I can ship them out in time for christmas delivery.

The first post says that the dicebags are $20-$30, but the donate page says they come with a $40 donation. Is the difference a matter of whether or not the money goes directly to you, or is this just a case of one being more up-to-date than the other?

Either way, I might make a down-payment on a dicebag sometime after the holidays. No promises, though.
Title: Chain for the Holidays
Post by: Xeviat on December 13, 2010, 08:13:54 PM
The $20-$30 price is my discounted price for the bags (they run more like $40 as my research has shown). The bag with donation was something I was doing just to get donations in at the time; that should probably be taken down or renegotiated (Ish was giving me 10 bucks of the donation to cover materials).

If it interested people, I could organize another donation drive with Nomadic.

If Xeviat is willing I'd be more than happy to organize something with him. In the meantime I'm going to talk with BF and Ish about fixing the donation page so it stops causing issues.

I can do something. It takes like 2 to 4 hours to put a bag together, and I'm getting real low on rings. But I intend to buy some more soon, probably stainless steel and aluminum, and then I could crank them out in my off time.

Nomadic, message me or email me and we can discuss things.
