I'm a nut. I like things to be accurate. So much so that I found that I would like to build a table to help me ballpark weights for my world's races based on their heights and whether or not I want them to be lighter than water, equal to water, or more dense (dwarves are going to be more dense than water, tritons are equal to water, valkyrie are lighter).
I'm digging around the internet, but no one's done the hard work for me and just made a table. I figured I'd start with typical human weight/height and say we're equal to water (most people are neutrally buoyant). Just wanted to see if anyone had any input.
This would probably vary a great deal on fat content in a body, being as fat is lighter than water, but nothing else in the human body is.
Are you going to take into consideration under/over weight? Human weight varies quite a bit with height as well.
That being said, water has a density of 1000kg/m3. Just calculate the rough volume of a person in m3 (that's meters cubed) and then multiply by 1000.

Well if you want to be technical, the water in our body is lighter than most water you'd encounter. Unless it's at or above body temperature.
I'm sure bone structure and bone density also plays a large role. The dense skeleton of a Dwarf probably weighs 3 times that of the frail boned Elf.
Also, let us not forget that in many setting Elven bone structure is more akin to Birds than Humans...
