Hello my campaign building friends. I simply wanted to drop a line and let everyone know that I'm still alive and well, and Darkstone is also good. I've got a small local following, including people drawing propaganda posters for the Republic and darkstone technology. It's neat. The game and adventure has changed a bit, however, as one of the pillars of the group, a particular character and conflict (and indeed, plot element) has stepped out. So I am content to let the game sit on the back burners until its ready to take out of the oven. It worked in the past. In the meantime, I think I'll still be swinging by to help review some material, encourage the downtrodden, and berate the crappy. I've got a big troupe style shadowrun game going on to keep me entertained; if you've never played shadowrun, and you've never played a troupe style game, I highly recommend the pair. It's a blast. Adios.
P.S. I was joking about berating anyone. Everyone knows I don't do that. I'm gentle and noxious like the waters of lake Michigan.
Welcome back!
The back burner method of gelling a project works amazingly well.
Troupe style? As in a whole gaggle (six or more) of players?
Welcome back.
A local following? Aaah! He's trying to start a cult. :P Seriously that's cool.
Weeeeeeeeeeee! Velox is back! *happy dance* I can't wait to see some new stuff from you, it's been awhile. :)
Welcome back Velox! Come post with us!
(Xathan, what is your avatar a picture of? Cuz I have some friends in a band that sue that same symbol as their logo)
Good to have you back dude, always good to have someone around who actually reads my stuff.

Ish, your friends should chill on the legal action. It's just a symbol.
;* :lmao:
HAHAHA... I meant *use*... freudian, anyone? :)
ah, Troupe style - The "troupe" style of gaming has nothing to do with the amount of players in the group, but rather the convention of "game mastering". In a typical game, one person is the one who runs the game, makes the adventures. In a troupe style, everyone makes adventures and everyone makes a character (we even go so far as everyone makes a Mr. Johnson in Shadowrun), and everyone takes turns GMing. Its great fun; a bunch of different play styles, nobody gets tired of GMing or playing.
New stuff... there isnâ,¬,,¢t too much. The devious plot involving the Republic and its hidden enemies is growing in scale and importance. The fantasy aspect is taking a greater back seat to the neo-terrestrial political elements (to my players favor). The game really focuses on the rebellion against authority, deciding what laws benefit the privileged and which ones protect the innocent. But it's a product of love, gotta let it cook, come at its own pace...
Good to have you back Velox!
@ Ish : I think it is a symbol for hinduism. That is, I'm pretty sure this is the symbol used in Civilization 4 for hinduism. :D
Man, I could seriously use Civilization 4 on this computer.
It's fun AND educational. What's not to like? :D

It is an aum or om.
From the aboot Hinduism library:
QuoteOm or Aum is of paramount importance in Hinduism. This symbol (as seen in the image on the right) is a sacred syllable representing Brahman, the impersonal Absolute â,¬' omnipotent, omnipresent, and the source of all manifest existence. Brahman, in itself, is incomprehensible; so a symbol becomes mandatory to help us realize the Unknowable. Om, therefore, represents both the unmanifest (nirguna) and manifest (saguna) aspects of God. That is why it is called Pranava, to mean that it pervades life and runs through our prana or breath.
Yeah, CYMRO beat me to the explanation. I was feeling peaceful when I decided to put up an avatar, and I couldn't think of a better symbol to express that. (Yes, I know om doesn't actually mean peace, but I had the mental image of a monk meditating saying "Om" in my head. When I did a google image search of om, the symbol popped up.)
