Sometime today, between 7:30 and 10:00 AM CST, my internet died, again. I'm trying to get it fixed - the cable company says the problem is on my end, so we'll have to see. I'm going to be away for an undetermined amount of time - I might be able to get on as soon as I get home from the library, I might not be able to get on for a couple of days. Unfortunatly, this means my work on various projects for people are going to be pushed back a few days - I'm tentatively rescheduling the Newsletter release for Friday the 15th, and I'm going to work on everyone's projects while ofline, and hopefully get it back to you guys when I return. I'll be busy while away, don't worry.
Talk to everyone later, and if my net isn't back up in a couple of days, I'll sign on to let everyone know.
Damn, that sucks... Well, as long as you're still working it should be alright. :P Anyway, good luck getting your net fixed, and do tell me the second things are back online.
youll probably regret getting the responses to this after your return
anyways, since you wont be able to get this until then, next time this happens, try taking it as a vacation :)
Xathan, what does the symbol in your avatar mean? I keep seeing it in weird places.
Just yesterday, I saw it in a decal on the back of a jeep, and later tattooed between the shoulderblades of a woman at the bookstore. I'm getting really curious.
It is an Om, or Aum.
QuoteOm or Aum is of paramount importance in Hinduism. This symbol (as seen in the image on the right) is a sacred syllable representing Brahman, the impersonal Absolute â,¬' omnipotent, omnipresent, and the source of all manifest existence. Brahman, in itself, is incomprehensible; so a symbol becomes mandatory to help us realize the Unknowable. Om, therefore, represents both the unmanifest (nirguna) and manifest (saguna) aspects of God. That is why it is called Pranava, to mean that it pervades life and runs through our prana or breath.

Fascinating.
LC, if you're seeing that symbol around in Greensboro, there's an astute possibility that you're seeing signs of the band known as "the Mantras." (http://www.marcusandthemantras.com/index.php)
But becareful I've heard they sue! :P
Well, on I-40 around Winston-Salem, and in Winston-Salem proper. I haven't been in Greensboro much this summer.
Although, HOLY COW that's Brian Tyndall on the bass. I had classes with that guy.
I think I have seen them billed here in Charlotte.
Cymro, you're in Charlotte? Sometimes I think we might as well rename this place the "Gamers Who Mostly Live in NC Club."
Seriously, we should possibly plan a meet for the NC people sometime. We could get somebody to run a PnP oneshot, and go out for coffee. The amount of people here in this area is ridiculous; we ought to take advantage of it.

True, it is almost the CCBG. :D
I'm from Minnesota, myself, but I do know a gamer from down there...
...by chance, is Mesarosh in the house?
I'm from Maryland... no gamers my age really live around here, so I can't find anyone to play with.
Perhaps when I go to Hawai'i there will be some... otherwise I could go watch dift racing or anime or something. Whatever works.
What is your age category?
(under 30/31-45/46-60/60+)
And...
What is a dift, and how do you race it?
For those who didn't quite catch it, I'm going to be away for a while as well. I'll be on vacation for two weeks, and away from my computer as a result. Have fun everyone!
@ Xathan: did you still get my email? (Sort of a silly question because I won't be reading your answer, I'm really just pointing out I sent one.)
Túrin
Under 30.
Drift racing involves intentional oversteering through corners. Wikipedia has an extensive article on drift theory (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drifting_%28motorsport%29)
Formula D (http://www.g4tv.com/formulad/index.html) is a TV show that covers the professional drifting circuit. There are some videos on the site.
You can probably find some street drifing stuff on YouTube. Street drifting, like any street racing, is illegal. I know several people who have got busted for it, even when doing it in parking lots.
Not back yet. Our wireless router is busted - I have my computer directly jacked into the modem, but my parents insist on me allowing their computer to have constant net acess, since they have work related stuff going on in that computer. We're probably getting a new router next week, so I'm looking at a Thursday at the latest return time...which is good, since I'm going into CBG withdrawl. I'll jack my computer in again monday to check, but I won't be here tuesday or wed either way, since my Girlfriend is coming into town (w00t, especially considering I haven't seen her in two months.) That's all for now - I'll catch up with everyone later.
Xathan out.
Yeah, that's Brian Tyndall; he and Keith both use to play in my band about 2 years ago. He's amazing.
