Hey, I'm going to Ohio on the 22nd for three weeks followed shortly by another three week vacation to Colorado.
During my stay in the East (Hey, I live on the Pacific coast) I'll be attending Otakon 2006 and I was wondering if anyone else from the CBG was going and possibly wanted to hang out? If you're going, please post here even if I'm gone. I will have internet for the Ohio portion of my vacation, so I will still be posting (probably.)
Yay for otaku! :byebye:
What is Otakon?

Heap big anime/manga/East Asian culture con.
http://www.otakon.com/default2.asp
Otakon (http://www.otakon.com/) is a fan convention focusing on the art of anime and manga, East Asian culture, and its fandom. The name is derived from the Japanese word otaku, which roughly means fanboy. Otakon is traditionally held some Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during the month of August at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Maryland's Inner Harbor district. It is one of the largest and longest-running Japanese animation conventions in the United States.
Edit: Drat! Beat to the punch!
Wow sounds pretty sweet.
I'm going to Otakon.
Nice. Do you want to see if we can at least find each other? It would be fun to meet another CBG member even for a short bit.
Will they have anything about Trigun or Cowboy Bebop there? If so, can you take notes on everything, and pictures, and possibly record everything digitally so I can get the full experience vicariously through you?
As much as I love the Cowboys I refuse to take part in your villainous scheme you loon!
Mostly 'cause I'll be on babysitting detail for my younger brothers and won't have all that much free time. I'll see if I can get some photos though.
Trigun, is that the one where some guys has a gigantic gun shaped like a cross?
Yup.
Yeah, and it was heavy because it was so full of mercy!
Well, I'm off. See yas.
Aaaand I'm back. Yay for internet. ^_^
How was it?
I'm still in Ohio, and the con doesn't happen for another week and a half, but I have internet again so I am back in cyberspace.
The plane ride was okay. As okay as 5 hours can be while jamming your 6'6" body into a seat the size of bread box. >_<

Look at the bright side, at least they didn't make you get out and walk :P

Yeah being tall sucks, though you have 4" or 5" on me.
I'll trade you guys anyday, being short and on the basketball team doesn't help much.

Run under their legs. :P

isnt there one guy in the NBA thats only, like, 5'4" or something?
We have an expression in Dutch that goes somewhat like:
The exception confirms the rule.
I'm not sure it makes any sense in English but it applies perfectly.
Oh, and I vote against any sort of RL CBG happenings on account of me not being able to attend them (assuming they will be in the US), which would be highly unfair. Unh. :(
Túrin
It would just be me and Rae at the biggest East Coast anime convention... nothing too big.
Yeah. I wasn't talking about anyone intentionally going anywhere to meet CBG people. But with a con it's easy to get to nerds in the same room with coincidence. :)
Speaking of which... do you actually want to meet up limey? If so, we should set a time and place. The convention center is huge. Or I could just carry a big sign around promoting the CBG...
I vote for the big sign! and T-shirts! w00t! Go CBG!
Oh man, I'd so want a CBG tee if I had money...
I second the big CBG sign. All in favor....
Fine! I'll whore myself out as a guild slave. We should still set a time/place though.

Office supply stores (and probably some other places as well) sell specially coated printer paper that turns whatever you print on it into an iron-on shirt transfer. It would be fairly easy to get a larger version of the CBG graphic at the top left of each page, flip it horizontally (so that the final shirt version isn't a mirror image), and iron it onto a blank T-shirt.
They don't make manufacturer-quality shirts or anything, but I've used them before, and they get the point across.
Well, so much for a sign. :,( I guess I'll just have to stand out by being really freaking tall.
You there, limetom?
Me and Rae already talked, so...
Both of us will not be around much this weekend due to the convention. We do plan to meet up, however.
