Grammar is for schmucks.

Welcome to the site! If you want to roleplay online, just stick around and we'll wrangle you into a game.

Fortunately, some popular rpg systems are available (more or less) for free.

  • Pathfinder is probably the one you'll want to best acquaint yourself with.

  • Pathfinder is the successor to Dungeons & Dragons, 3rd Edition, which is probably the game you've heard the most about.

  • FATE also gets some use around here. It's significantly simpler than the above games.

Great thing is, you don't have to buy any of them. All the rules you're likely to need are in the links provided, and they're more useful for the Games Master than the players anyway.

There are also a few home-made rulesets on this site. If you end up in a game on the CBG, you'll find out more about them.

And don't panic about memorising it all! Rules are also for schmucks.

PS: Hop on the IRC (link is accessible at the top of site) and chat with us in realtime. We are much friendlier than the jerk-butts you met on those other sites.

Welcome to the CBG. Like SA said, hop on the IRC chat for some gaming talk and general discussion. Sometimes you might find that everyone there is idle, but there's usually someone around in the evenings.

Awesome, something came up and i will be busy a couple os days this week but i will take this time to get familiar with pathfinder and FATE and i hope to join you guys in the IRC soon, Thanks!

Hello everyone, i guess this is the place for introductions, im new and my first lenguage is not english so bear with me.

born on november 1989, i live in a Mexican city very near to the US border, like 20 minutes away if there is no traffic, i haven't met anyone on my town that plays any kind of rpg game that isnt in xbox or such thing and as such i have never played a dnd or any other kind of rpg but i have always read about them online and i've always been really curious about them, i have tried some other online sites because i want to learn and play but i have run into a lot of elitism or hardcore gamers i guess and i end up being told to buy x book about rules or other, anyhow i guess ill getto the point now.
Like i said i'd love to learn and enjoy playing rp adventures in any kind of setting, be it medieval, space, present, etc, but i know that teaching someone is probably time consuming, hard and possibly boring/rage inducing so i dont expect much.
Im available pretty much every day this month, maybe half of january too while my working condition settles, my time zone is America/Matamoros and i would like to learn/play around 12:00-6:00 pm im not exactly sure how to actually play a game but i downloaded the mibbit thing so IRC is ok, also if anyone points me to free guides, rulesets, or any kind of begginer must know things i would be grateful and umm.. i guess thats about it i have many questions and expectations but i guess this isnt the right thread for that.

TLDR. Newguy, want to learn, free every day from noon to 6 pm, tight budget, i just want to know how to get started.

p.s. its 4 am, havent slept and english is not my first lenguage, please forgive my grammar

pps. i like learning so if you like correcting people's grammar i wont get mad, in fact i would apreciate it.
