They are non-lethal, they use the shriek and sound to stun you for a short time and then they wrap around you to inflict you with a poison that coats its skin. It stops the brain from being able to control the body for a short while, or if the snake stays on someone it will last until they die or the snake moves.

Indeed they are designed to make the golems life extremely easy.

Ill post moar in a bit..

Short Cuts,

Non-Static- These appear very rarely when the labyrinth changes. Short cuts can appear to be something as random as a window in the wall or even a trap door. When one enters they usually find themselves in a very new and odd land. One created from his Majesties Memories of life and history before he went mad. Most lead to ancient tombs or temples that resemble ones from ancient cultures through out time. Most come with its own host of guardians and traps to stop one from proceeding. When one makes it to the end of these random areas they are greeted with a passage exactly like the first, this one however will let them out always being closer to their destination.

Static- A static shortcut is one that was made just like its non-static counter part however, this one starts in a static zone making it extremely rare, and important. Many people who discover these attempt to keep them secret from others, to use it for their own gain or to keep others from doing such.
The entrance and exit of a static short cut however look different and the exit always looks different for everyone. Choosing the wrong door in these short cuts could lead one to a very moosey fate. (Say it, You know you want to... Moosey fate lol. Zim ftw... Back on topic...) In all seriousness though, The wrong exit will lead one to an unfortunate fate of some kind, Be it stumbling into a hoard of Cackling Devils or simply into an area far away from your destination.
A Static shortcut does however have the same end result of taking you closer to where you want to be if you traverse it successfully...

Edit: Fixed something that would be confusing...

Something that slightly confused me in my reading... Humans worship these gods but the gods have no power... Is that saying the gods exist or are they just fictional. And if thats the case do the alien gods exist? And do they have some kind of omnipotent power? Sorry if these questions were answered else where that i didnt see.

Guardians of the Labyrinth,

Sentry Serpents,

Long clear serpents ranging from 3-10feet that seem to be made more of gel then flesh, when patrolling they curl themselves into tight balls and levitate themselves. They let off a dim blue glow and float randomly down corridors looking for unsuspecting victims to assault. When they find a victim they let off a furious burst of light followed by an ear piercing screech to alert the near by guardians of the threat. The most common responders to the call is other Sentry Serpents and Golems.

Guard Golems,

One of the most common guardians, They are strange golems assumed to be crafted by His Majesty but none are sure. They stand between 3-4' tall and vary in look greatly. They have many offensive abilities including psionics to render their foe harmless. When in danger they utilize their ability to merge with the labyrinth walls and make their escape this way only to recover and attack again with bigger groups.
-Usually found with just about every other guardian.

Cackling Carvers,

Named for their hideous cackle and jagged knives they roam the labyrinth in large packs, they usually travel on all fours and resemble small black lizard men with red horns and when they attack their cries together sound loud enough to drop most to their knees. Preferring to climb walls they have made themselves great ambushers, focusing on relentlessly assaulting one victim at a time until they have obtained what they want, be it loot or food they usually leave nothing behind. They have been increasingly rare but more vicious and aggressive, some even making excursions through static zones.

<Name Pending>

Large birds very similar to feathered pterodactyls they fly high above the labyrinth constantly looking for the next meal they can bring back to their perch. Usually living in small groups and hunting for all of them they tend to go for medium to large creatures.
When hunting they utilize two hooks that are made of bone and hang from their wings in varying locations all along the bone(1 hook per wing, usually) The hooks can be extended and retracted at will allowing for them to do quick fly overs of hallways and quickly pull up any prey they catch. After being seized the victim faces a gruesome future, Being dangled above the nest by the hunter they become live food for the others.

Might post more before i hit the sack...

>.>;; A typo, But also something more insidious!

And thank you, I thought of the title and had to go with it. It just rang all kinds awesome.
The Keep,

The first static zone to be populated, It consists of a large field and in the center lies a Moat surrounding a Keep of substantial size. Many who first saw this place thought it an illusion or trick but with time people began to gather and camp out over night, finding fish in the river that fed the moat it quickly became home to many. Soon a few brave adventurers invaded the keep, during the first day most of them died but, in the end two rose victorious and slew the guardians of the keep, leaving behind a place fit to house many people.

The city is large to labyrinth standards containing around 2000 people in a rather confined space, Forcing them to build tightly and upwards when possible, there are now more houses then clearing. the law structure is strict but biased towards those with power. The food supply consists of the river fish and other plants harvested from the river, along with some fruit and vegetable plants that have been amassed.

There is much crime to be had in this town, thieves work covertly with one another, doing spy runs for other towns or even stealing precious seeds or even animals. If one succeeds he is promised fortunes, The thieves who get caught however, are never heard from again.
(Something I wrote on my ipod while out and about today..^)

Thinking up some creatures now, will probably post something later..

Dolren Aldever, "The Cartographer"

A Weathered man in tattered clothes brandishing almost incomprehensible family crests and ancient insignias from lost kingdoms. He wanders the Labyrinth alone, carrying with him countless rolls of parchment to map the labyrinth on, Feeling himself capable of discovering a pattern of changes. To most he appears as another unkempt mad old vagrant but to those who know him, He is like a oasis in the desert, always providing a safe place and food to any who need. Maybe even a map if your fortunate.

Kohr Summal, "Fortunes Fool"

A young man and old inhabitant of the labyrinth, he keeps himself clean and professional looking.

Many see nothing in this young man but those who are wise and willing to see beyond his shady demeanor find themselves a great escort. He knows many secrets in the labyrinth, Ways to trick it to change where you want, Ways to simply bypass walls and even ways to walk along the very tops of them. He has not been seen in a long time, though many think he is the shadow figure behind the rogues guilds.

All I got this morning, Kidnapped for store run.  Another post when im back. Atleast another npc and a city.

Quote from: LlumOn the teleportation, the idea of pull is pretty neat. A piece the size of a doorway isn't particularly large, so how common are these? Seems fairly easy to cut a door sized chunk out of the ground and take it, unless you have to counter-act the pull to teleport it away, wich would be very hard since its right at its origin. Does distance affect it in anyway?

I did forget to mention, the piece was from crystals infused with alot of magic. Otherwise with something like mundane objects it takes a larger piece yes. However, the piece must be one solid object. To make a teleporting gate* to say a specific mountain cave, one could take a large archway shaped piece. However the issue would be getting the object to where you want it with it breaking. When broken the pull would still work but they wouldnt work together.

Quote from: LlumIs it only minerals that have a pull? (Rocks, crystals etc). Or would a living thing work, like part of a tree. How about something more mobile like a person or an animal.

Ive been considering this strongly. All objects do have this pull, however some materials are stronger then others. As for the living object, yes it would still work. Though typically a very weak pull is found between a person and his severed hand xD However, one thing most mages are interested by, The pull between a mother and her child is extremely powerful, even to the point of pulling one to the other with no magic intervention.

Quote from: LlumThe other thing is about the Keziri, I don't know how based (biologically) on birds they might be but birds have extremely long lifespans for their size. They're bodies are much more efficient so they have a lot less damage from free radicals, something believed to cause aging (as well as mutations that can lead to cancer). So 60 years seems very short if they're biologically close to birds. Just something that popped into my mind when I read about them.

Hm, I actually thought their life spans were kinda short(Shows how much my school years aid me now xD) I think this makes more sense for them. They have to be efficient body wise to live in the harsher climate and with less food then most other races have. Thank you for bringing this to light :)

[note]*Im not entirely sure what to call the gates. Ive tossed around a few ideas but they all seem like they are over used or mundane. Id prefer to keep the term gate out but no clue where to go from there.[/note]

Hm, I hadn't thought of it that way but i like the idea. It sounds like something that could add alot of flavor to my teleporting. Ah, the ideas for campaign use are already coming.

The value of the brick in that treasure chest will be greater then they suspect xD!

Sorry guys, been sick in bed for a few days. Back to update.

On teleportation, I've come to the conclusion that teleporting between the treasures will be semi-challenging without some "enabler" Something that gives a short cut basically.

One possibility I'm thinking of...

If you take a rock from a mine in my world the rock and the mine(Though not alive) know where the other is at all times and have a "pull" to one another. The greater the size of the object the greater the pull. Mages who discovered this also have found it can lead to very easy teleportation. They harvested a piece of crystal about the height of a door from the largest crystal deposit on Teria and took it back to Arannia where after rigorous testing they came to the conclusion that if one simply uses the natural pull between objects they can make teleportation take next to no energy. The only issue is that it allows for teleportation only to major locations(I.E the crystal deposit.) with a large amount of magical presence.(Sorry, forgot to mention. The Crystal was formed into an archway and later was enchanted with a sustained teleport spell that allowed them to teleport freely.)

Does this sound like a good way to explain a form of teleportation?

I have a couple more ideas but im going back to bed. Asthma+Cold+Headache+possible lung cold also=Lots of bed and no internets xD

EDIT: Thanks for the replies btw. Ill try and post on each of your settings tonight or tomorrow when i feel up to being alive.

Had time for a quick post. got some sniplets on one of my races.
A race of short humanoids averaging 4'6"-5', They have weak bones and develop little body fat only averaging 3-5%. They have feathered wings that  span twice their height roughly. Also live an average of 60 years.

They live mostly in the mountainous regions of Teria and form large towns with very few small towns in between.  They are hunter/Gatherers primarily but do have the knowledge to farm if needed, however the size constraint that peaks put on them makes farming very difficult and implausible.

The second race contacted by humans, they have formed strong friendships with all races so far and enjoy a rich open trade with them.

After being introduced to outsider magic they found themselves greatly adept at using arcane energy and have become some of the best casters on the treasures and this has caused them to become rather involved in mage politics concerning worlds outside theirs.

Magic

[note]Magic is still up in that air mainly. Im working out the different types of magics there will be and why they are different. Expect many more types then what i have listed.[/note]

In the realm of The Seven Treasures magic comes in many unique forms, varying from normal mundane Arcanna, to Channeling power from black holes to tear your enemy into pieces.
Also called Mundane Magic, It is the weakest of all forms of magic as it has little to no offensive or defensive abilities.

Referred to as Under Magic by most schooled mages. This magic is gained through making a pact with a being of great magic power. (Most commonly demons and elementals)

The "Creators Magic". Said to be the magic that the gods used when making the worlds. It is extremely rare for any male to wield this magic and Is forbidden by multiple cultures around the treasures.
History
Still, very very very un thought out. Rough idea of when/how the worlds came to be and how the races got there. Will post that when i have time to type it up all pretty.
