Yeah... If you think about it, the only folks who were ever able to do something like that were the psionic folk... Until the Emerald Dawn, they were pretty much the only act in town. Gods amongst men.

When generating characters, I pretty much let my players decide what they wanted to play, and together we made it work... if they wanted to play a magical race, I let them decide HOW the race was created, and we all worked together on the benefits and drawbacks.

For example, one wanted to be a Satyr, so I let him write the story of how the Satyr began. etc.

Ah yeah!  I remember being called a Guinan!

And the setting... I did (more or less) finish it. I will look around and see about sharing the info.

I finished enough of it to run a small campaign. I have learned a good deal about myself as a player in the last 5 years, and my problem is, and I am under NO delusions here, I'm really a substandard GM. I tell a very boring story. The setting, I think, has merit, but we'd only played a few sessions, as I had a very tough time weaving a good campaign.

Which is likely why I couldn't really remember saying anything about it, I haven't thought much about it in the last few years.

I will share as much as I can here, I'll just have to gather it all. It's all over at griznuq.com if you wanna read about it, it's the campaign called "Emerald Skies".

I have made several batches, one 6 gallon, and 2 1 gallons. Made them all the same day. The recipe calls for 2.5 lbs honey for the 1 gallon, and between 9 and 15 lbs for the 6.

The single gallons, I did one with Apple's and peaches, the other with blackberries... the blackberries clogged the airlock, and blew it off, spraying my ceiling...

The recipe calls for fermenting until 2 weeks after bubbling stops, racking (moving to a new container) every 2 months, for a whole year. ...curiosity got the better of me. I drank the single gallons after about 6 month, and honestly, they really weren't bad, particularly the berry one.

The 6 gallon batch I added oranges... which was stupid, because I don't really care much for orange juice to begin with, and I left the skins on... which was really stupid, it overtook the flavor.

my comment about not liking mead wasn't so much because of the taste, but the time investment. ...cider is muuuch faster.=)

I'm actually a bit of a home brewer of beers and mead... I have a bucket of mead going right now. It's my 3rd batch, and I'm starting to think that I just don't like mead... I'll do one more, and if it's gross, I'm done.

Beers... I'm a big craft beer fan. My baseline beer is Sam Adams Boston Lager. If I say "I want a beer" that's what I'm talking about. That or Harpoon.

I discovered my new favorite yesterday though... "Wormtown - Be Hoppy IPA". It just dethroned "Jack's Abby's Hoponious Union".

I like a dry bitter, piney tasting brew.

The short answer is: It's a d20 with big pointy teeth... Just something I drew in Gimp.

Here's the long story:

I created a website some time back, which I'm still sorta waiting on developers for, but essentially, I wanted it to be a community of geeks...

The whole things started with my own small group of players. We used a CMS called E107 for a website (think WordPress or Joomla, if you don't know what a CMS is). Griznuq.com is where we kept our game related info in a forum... Game logs, in character discussions, campaign related info like house rules, etc... It's been invaluable.

So I got to thinking, I'm sure there are tons of folks who would love to have a system like that to keep track of their games, but don't have the resources or knowledge, so I could create a forum for them to do exactly that. So I started putting it all together, but needed a name.

I didn't want it to be specific to any one type of game and really, I'm not going to require that anyone actually PLAY anything... I really just kinda wanted to bring a bunch of like minded folk together, RPG players, or otherwise... So I shot a little broader than "RPG player" and went for "Geek".

Well, what screams geek louder than Monty Python? I named the site "Big Pointy Teeth". (dot net) My avatar sort of bridges the gap between the "Geek" term and RPG. (being a D20, and all...)

So I have been using the name "Griznuq" now since the mid 2000s... (02 maybe... ) and occasionally, I google it just to see what comes up. Which I did a few minutes ago, and lo and behold, CBG came up.

...I have ZERO recollection of coming here, but apparently I posted like three things back in 2008 or something. I'm sure I didn't leave for any personal reasons, perhaps I'd signed up during a (not uncommon) alcohol induced haze or something... But in looking around again, looks like I made a good choice! :)

So uh... Hi! Um... again.

What's new? o.0

Wanted to add...

I read probably the first half of the Wheel of Time by Jordan... And I gotta say, I dropped it after the 5th or 6th book... ALL the women in that book were miserable! I just couldn't take it anymore... And for a GUY to write something with SO MANY venomous women! Someone hurt that guy pretty bad, methinks.

5 books is a big investment for me, so for me to drop a 12 book series after getting through THAT many pages is pretty significant.

Am I the only one who hates the women of the Wheel of Time??

Honestly, I'd really love to actually have what one could call a Library.

Now... I don't need junk like those creepy novles with a shirtless fabio on it, but anything either refference or fantasy / sci fi would be great.

One could ener the library de Griz, and thumb through anything from the complete works of Edgar Allen Poe, Shakespear, or such all the way out to lectures from Richard Feynman.

There'd be comics too.

The Cogs (Archived) / E107 Theme

Really?? Interesting...

I'd gone to it from PHPNuke... e107 is in comparrision a bastion of security...

The feature I was most interested in are the OOC tags {ooc}{/ooc}. I'd love to be able to put that into my site... was that difficult?

The Dragon's Den (Archived) / A new arrival

"Thanks for the welcome, I think I shall like it here very much," the scruffy human said scratching at his stubbled neck.

Warm food, cold drink, and all the interesting people one could want to meet, Griz thought to himself. What better place to call home?
