Meta (Archived) / ITS A TRAP!
October 11, 2008, 11:38:29 PM
a lot of the time pcs miss blatantly obvious clues
one time I described a room that had charred holes in the walls, "funny-looking tiles" and a lever on the far side
one pc walked across to the lever
they almost died
wow I must be tired my grammar is way down

Quote from: Pair o' Dice Lost
Quote from: Kapn XeviatI'd like to see a "build by numbers" style Polymorph "fix".

So something like astral construct, targeted on yourself?  I could get behind that.

If you want balance that looks like a good direction to go.

GIMP is open source, so you can find just about anything for plugins or filters

yeah that's some nice art
I'd be willing to draw weapons for you if you want me to;  they're my specialty

Personally I use a tablet with GIMP to make mine recently, but the tablet did cost me $80 which is not what you're looking for.

I assure you that GIMP is awesome.

Meta (Archived) / Systems other than d20

I read over the window and I found it very interesting.  I think I may try it out sooner or later

It does seem a bit non-concrete, but it is way simpler than d20 where they basically came up with a rule for everything ever.

Meta (Archived) / Polymorph fixes

Usually in my campaigns no one ever plays a wizard or any spellcaster because it was difficult to understand.
On the flip side everything in my campaigns are overpowered, so it didn't bother me at all when one PC turned at least one enemy a day into meatloaf.  Of course he couldn't stay like that long, but the PC would get someone to eat the meatloaf.  Polymorph does need fixing.
Just a question:  could 3.5 turn things into objects?  We only played 3.0 cause it was cheaper.

after reading everything else, I feel as though my story doesn't fit...

Upon reading this name of this topic and nothing else, I must tell you about my 2 greatest dming mistakes ever and how fun they were.  I play dnd.

So one day in the magical land of I didn't draw a map yet, and after 2 sessions and 5 levels, I decided it to be a holiday.    I chose Christmas and gave everyone a large warship.  When they began a slave trade, tavern, and all out war, I realized I had gone too far.  So naturally I did what every powerful dm would do, and I created thirteen new moons that completely dried up 99% of the water on Didn't Draw a Map Yet and destroyed everything I had given to the PCs. They were very unhappy.

I am Dolalmoth, master of over-dramatic epic-ness.
I use d20 system and have always been the dm for my group since the beginning since they were all too lazy for it.  Much of my material comes from Tolkein, and also now from Kevin J. Anderson.
I will soon begin work on my universe, one with thousands of planes and epic plots and everything else typical of dnd.  One final note:  I often have high tech stuff in my settings despite their midevalness  [dice]1d8[/dice]

The Cogs (Archived) / I'd like to introduce myself
August 19, 2008, 10:01:54 PM
Hello everyone!  My name upon the internet is "Dolalmoth", a name originating from a misspelling of "Dol Amroth" a city in lotr.  My name is occasionally romanized as Dolalmothi or Dolalmothia and basically any other variation of it is me.
I draw intensely from basically anything with lots of epic-osity, and my campaigns and worlds often revolve around very epic things such as planeswalkers or very powerful devices.  As a result my PCs tend to end up with plenty of money.  I believe in awesome heroism and one man against an army, but I hated the movie 300 for its lack of plot.
I will conclude before I write a novel.  Hope to now you all very well.
