The Dragon's Den (Archived) / silly players

I had a player play a fremlin and he'd fly around using magic to fly on his own flatulence to speed up his wings.

Same player would play a half giant and try to get with halflings with hilarious results.
Same half giant was also excessively proud of his character's junk/ He'd like drink a ton of beer to put out a fire via taking a whiz to try to be heroic.

I got more.. but i think they'd be too disturbiing... but they amused the hell out of sadistic dm side.

If any of you guys have questions about Mage, ask Khyron1184 or myself. We do have a PBP for "Island City" which in the tabletop game of it we have as well, is pretty much a Mage game with other stuff.

Quote from: St0nEAnother thought. Religion. How would real world religions interact with the faiths of Eberron? Would the real world religions followers be able to get divine spells? Also, how would the people react to magic in the first place? I could see mass panic once the regular people of Liberty for example see someone cast some flashy evocation spell.

With the situation I brought up, I think it'd vary quite a bit dependent on where in the nation Liberty was originally from. I'd see a town in a more cosmopolitan area reacting less with hostility compared to a town in the bible belt for example.

Also, how would scientists and engineers react to magic?
Also, the reactions from say a student of the occult or a parapsychologist to being on Eberron could be quite interesting... Might be a way to use some of the d20 Modern material as well.

Meta (Archived) / Preparations and GM styles

When I used to GM, I often ran off the cuff of my sleeve, especially when I ran AD&D 2e with some 1e to fill in the gaps. Had tables for all sorts of stuff. I also had players who would LOVE to tear apart and abandon things. Eventually that game became each of them raising armies, etc against each other while planeshopping, only teaming up to take out someone they "hated more than each other".

Reminds me how half of my old house rules in 2e (revised 2e) D&D ended up in 3.x D&D.
I begin comparison shopping for various pieces of equipment I need to perform the upgrades. In this shopping, I also try to make sure the devices are not ones known to "phone home".

To control access, use CAC enabled doors, etc. This is for access control purposes so people can't just wander around. Also usable as punch cards. It can also be used to keep track of supplies as well. You want a meal, you put in your card to let them know you came in and ate. That is what the military mess halls do. Biometric usage is also a tool that can be used to either augment or substitute for lost CAC cards. Add cameras in public areas excluding latrines (privacy still is needed there...) Have Kirlian video cameras at major checkpoints that are hidden/look like normal cameras. (detection of kindred, other awakened, etc). Outside cameras and Kirlian cameras would also be useful to detect intrusion, etc. Maybe an AI like HALey could be useful in the regards of processing all the received data. All of this should be implemented gradually tho due to nature of employees and financial reasons.

I begin working on upgrading security here in Prometheus Tech. First will be a security audit. With that I'll have a basis to design my initial plans to present to Victor. With the bleeding edge tech here I think we may need it. Also would like to begin work on improvements on the Styx Armor design... improved nanotech could be quite useful here... likely would start by it having improved nutrient usage... not needing the maintenance capsules would be very helpful... also them playing nice with other cyberware would be a major plus in the long run.
