Arctivia is soon going to be revamped. New name. New thread. Seperate thread for discussion. My question is: What are better names for... anything? The magocracy? The capital? The Port City? The Frozen North? Any city therein? The Desert? Any tribe or city state therein? Any prison complex? Millitary Complex? ANYTHING.

I JUST NEED SOME NAMES.

You know a good one? One that'll think up some distinctly less generic names? Because so far, I've been scouring the anagrams of Nastrodamus and I've come up with... maybe... three?

Alternatively get one of those online translator devices, think of a real-world culture that loosly parralels the relevent culture in your game world, then translate two words that loosely describe the person/place/whatever into the appropriate language for the real-world parralel culture, then commingle the letters of the words in different ways until you have something that sounds cool.

I wasn't talking about a downloadable, but rather a site with a built-in translator. There are plenty, although some aren't too accurate (not that that matters for your purposes beyond it sounding right)

funny thing about fantasy names is, if you think its $#!++y, then you can always try out cool new pronunciations and accents to use it in. eventually, youll find something you like, without actually changing the name :)
