CYMRO

I just downloaded the seven day free trial for D&D Online.
 :soap:  :eew:  ;nay:

What drek!

Thank the Gods I didn't not pay for it!

It completely failed to grab my attention.  It seems some unholy bastard child of NWN and D2LOD, but none of the good parts of either.

The whole questing for every little thing (from BBEG to the lavatory key) was old more than a decade ago.

And the price tag is  :censor:.  $50 up front and $17 per month?   :eew:

Igor says, "Three thumbth down, marthter!"

It just doesn't look that interesting to me... I think I'll keep playing D2 mods until D3 comes out... and maybe, they'll make a kick-ass generic D&D online game sometime that's not set in Eberron or FR.

For finite types, like human beings, getting the mind around the concept of infinity is tough going.  Apparently, the same is true for cows.

Concur completeley, Comrade.

If I want hack and slash fun online D2 is it.  And it doesn't keep dipping into my wallet.

Imagine this: Living Grayhawk Online. Depending on what region you live in determines what nation you come from, just like Living Grayhawk. Game designers and DMs for what ever company makes it (hypothetically that is) design real time activities within the world, and the world responds appropriately.

While you're in town looking for some odd jobs to earn some cash and grab the spare XP you need to gain your next level, you come across a group of characters huddled around a flier on the wall. You squeeze in and read the sign, "Adventurer's Wanted". The first bunch to get there goes on the adventure; if they fail (they all die and aren't ressed, though I'd say there would have to be some sort of respawning thing; perhaps you have to belong to a guild and they true res you if you're gone for too long?) then the adventure switches into stage two.

I don't like the idea behind D&D Online because it's trying too hard to be PnP D&D and trying less hard to be a persistant MMORPG. That and they left classes out ... that's just sad.

And truncated the skills and feats.
And it plays like a complete NWN rehash.
And it how did my level 1 fighter with a 15 con get 32 frellin' hit points?!?
