Char must know how to read and write magical lanuages. scribe, cligerphy, ect. and focuse energy into writen syboles and such


Plant/herbs/earth

most basic version of herblest/alcemy. some form of nature knowlage

Stone

knowlage of the magic propertys of gem stones and all stones, ores and metals and how to mix the energys of them

Ritual

the boring ceramonal magics of alters, some mages and all clerics or Holy magic users

Energy

crafters of energy, options, use your own or draw from an out side sorce.

Weather

only has access to weather affecting spells

Pushing ablitys or the OH %^@^%^&&* rule for magic users

holy magic users can pray to the gods for help, fighters can dig deep to keep on fighting, rangers can ask the plants and animals to help, roge can be sneaky. why can mages pull spells out of thier butt if they need to.

to balence this out, it hurts and is very drianning as in taking temp con damage, untill you pass out. the damage is based on how many spells you've pulled and the spell level, if you fail the dc of pulling the spell you pass out.

I don't remember seeing it on your main thread, but what is a Wayfairer?  Is it a person? item? magic?  It almost sounds like a kind of engine.  Regular changes the weather to make the ship go, dimensional is kinda like a portal/stargate kind of thing.  I could, of course be completely wrong, I'm just guessing.

One bit of advice for you: explain things.  I can tell you know exactly what you're talking about, but if we don't know, it's harder for us to help you.

I'm trying to make it into a class or abbility, for the rest of the idea you are right on.

yes, I'm working on them for my campain, but i was thinking that they fall under more of the rules type thing then story line. Drakes are like the drakes out of the Dragonriders of Pern books, but more like minicher D&D dragons.

and as far as the magics, i'm trying to changes the magic system so that there are different types other then D&D kind of magic, because it doesn't seem accessable to most every one who would want to do magic of some form. some races are not magically inclined by D&D standards, but in my thinking they should have some kind of magical outlet open to them. Dwarves most likely will not try or have any intrest in magical energys or spells, but they would have no problems with rune or stone magices because the magics do not from within them sleves, but exterally and easlly useable if done right.

the machinices, laws and rules of these things are the part that i'm fuzzy on.

true but weather contol is a vary active way of using magic. even if your just doing it on a small scale (just the boat your on), from what i've read constructs are fairly smiple creature with not much of their own thinking.
